Just a couple of years ago Kill was saying he needed to improve the receiving position. Why? 3 passes in 1st half. Why any WR would come here is beyond me

Great point.
Hard to get anyone decent to come here at this point. (throwing or catching)
Not even a threat to put the ball up.
Should be nine in the box against us, always.

We haven't completed a pass yet? And only attempted 4?

Forget about ever recruiting a QB with pro aspirations. All the other coaches need to do is show the recruit games like this.

After spending 2 days defending Kill, he goes and does something really indefensible. I get the idea of pounding away at something until they show they can stop it, but this complete lack of even an attempt at a passing game is just inexcusable.

Very, very frustrating Fargo. It would f'n kill our coaches to throw the ball on first down! Strevelers first pass attempt? 3rd down and 11..... into the wind. Way to help out the new QB.....

Even if we do win this one, it won't be enough in conference play.

Streveler sucks. I can see why they haven't tried to throw more.

The way he runs he's not going to last long, which might not be a bad thing...Who's the 3rd string?

I actually had hopes that the receivers were improved and we might have a more balanced attack this year. You couldn't have just given the new QB a couple of quick slants to get his feet wet? That's asking too much?

Seriously, what decent QB is ever going to want to play here?

My thoughts exactly. There have to be a dozen guys walking around campus who could complete a short out pass if our regular guys cannot.

I believe our #3 has been J. Perra, a walk-on true freshman. What the hell is there to lose, maybe he can complete the 5 yard out pass.

I wonder if Utah's coach was crying about playing a tough non-conference game on the road. Oh wait, that's our coach.

I know the big ten (didn't capitalize on purpose) is down this year, but there is no way we can win a game with Streveler at QB in a big ten game. Leidner doesn't give us much of a chance either. Someone explain to my why our top 2 QB's only skill is running over DB's? Big, slow, not at all nifty QB's who like to run because they can't throw. Exactly what I'd want to recruit for my QB . These guys would be better suited at FB than QB.

Appears to be a significant recruiting failure at the position. Here it goes from memory....

2011 Max Shortell QB - really was Brewster recruit but Kill honored the commitment. Didn't really fit the offense so he left for an FCS school. Believe he's a backup now as a Senior.

2011 Dexter Foreman QB - I think he was very late add to this class. Pretty much a complete bust who struggles to even make the roster.

2012 Philip Nelson QB - Starter who left apparently because he didn't like the offense.

2012 Mitch Leidner QB - I thought he was PWO, but he may have been a late scholarship add to the class. Current #1.

2013 Donovahn Jones ATH - H.S. QB who was recruited as more of an athlete. Given a token shot at QB, then moved to WR.

2013 Chris Streveler QB - Current #2 QB.

2013 Conor Rhoda QB - Walk on who was listed #3 most of last year while Streveler redshirted. He didn't play so was actually redshirted also. Apparently beaten out by J. Perra this year and listed at #4.

2014 Dimonic McKinzy ATH - H.S. QB who they are currently redshirting (as a QB). Tells me he did not make much progress on the depth chart.

2014 Jacques Perra QB - PWO who apparently won the #3 job. He is redshirting however and won't play unless extended injuries to the top guys.

Anyone have something to add to this??

Going to disagree with you on the Big Ten thing. Michigan State is legit. I will not deny that. In fact, had there been a 4-team playoff last season they would have been tough to beat. However, outside of that Ohio State is a decent club and that is where it stops. Sorry Wisconsin fans but you are vastly overrated every year! Lets also not forget, the Big Ten now has 14 programs. Take away the top two teams and there is little difference between the Big Ten and the MAC, CUSA or Mountain West.

The Big Ten finally has a good week. 3-0 vs the ACC and 12-1 overall with just Michigan on the losing end.

Did some quick math on their non-conference record against mid-major conferences so far this year. Oh, and I did NOT include the Big Two schools.

The Big Ten versus:
AAC: 2-0
CONFERENCE USA 3-0
MAC 6-3
MOUNTAIN WEST 2-0
SUN BELT 2-0
I'll also count Navy as a mid-major and Rutgers beat them today.

That's a 16-3 record without counting Mich St & Ohio St. games. They are also 10-0 against FCS schools, as you should expect.

IMO those conference are closing the gap not only with the Big Ten, but also with the other power 5 conferences. The Big Ten & the other conference are still winning them, however there seem to be many more near misses than I remember in the past.

Like I have been saying all week, there is no chance a top-notch quarterback or wide receiver is coming to Minnesota to play in this offense.

Seriously, is Leidner that much better than the backup? If so, that is pretty sad because he isn't worth a damned himself.
