My God. B10 hockey has totally murdered my loyalty. I'm watching the game, Friday BTW, and they just mentioned this is game 2. I had NO IDEA there was a game last night. I have, maybe, missed 20 games over the past 10 years. That was due to travel or it wasn't televised. I'm mind blown right now, no joke.

I know what you mean. I rarely miss a game either, but this year I have missed more than usual. I put a Gopher app on my phone so I can check the schedule early in the week to see what stupid time we are playing this week.....

I finally see a full game and it is another piss poor performance by the Gophers. This has to be the most frustrating team to watch we have had in a long time. I don't see this team doing any damage if they do make the tourney this year. They have the look of a typical one and done team.

I look at you, Jeff ... and a couple others here ... as being in my boat.
As in, we care deeply about this program.
This is the truth ...
We had gone out Thursday night, and as it gets near game-time for the Wild, my radar starts tingling, I gotta get near a TV, now.
So we finish our meal in one bar (that doesn't have MSNBC or whatever the hell they call it), and head to our favorite hole that has it.
We get into our spot, start watching the Wild game, its going great, big-ass screen blaring in front of me.
Out of the corner of my eye, I keep seeing another hockey game going on on another TV. I glance a couple times, then focus on it ...
"hmmmm" I say to myself..."what the hell, who's replaying a Gopher game during the week? Hmmmm, great idea, must be some kind of channel
where they replay Gopher games 24/7. Sweet. Should get that"
Then my tiny mind starts paying more attention. Hmm. Its Mich State. Hmmm. I thought I heard that was our next opponent. Hmmm.
So I slide closer, between the two TVs, and figure out that the GD game is half-over.
And very few people in America know this.
Absolutely mind-boggling.
The comeback had started, and it ended up being very enjoyable to watch both of my favorite teams side-by-side .... but WTF.
When people who care about this program cant keep this shit straight, how do you ever think the program will get better?
Theres apathy amok right now surrounding this program.
They catch your interest for small periods of time, but the big picture? Why should we care?
Its unreal. I could care less if Penn State needs the exposure. I could care less if Mich State and Ohio State even HAVE teams.
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Great story man and that sums it up right there. Very few of us left. It reminds me of a golf trip I took to Hilton Head years ago. I knew the Gophers were playing that Saturday night and had second thoughts about going. I went anyway. We head out at night to the local sports bar. Low and behold, they have the game on at some random TV in the corner. I didn't move unless my beer was empty.

Everyone in that place thought I was a loon. Didn't care

BTW - you're both right. We sucked last night. No passion. I didn't even seem like they cared that they lost. They will win the B10 again~ yawn.

I did, however ... feel like we were watching TYPICAL Gopher hockey.
At times, the greatest puck-moving bunch on the planet.
Like men toying with boys.
Anyone else ever see this in this program?
Honestly, since day one, its what has always amazed me about THE GOPHERS.
No matter who we are playing, we've done it forever .... there are times when the other team follows us around like they are the Washington Generals.
It almost looks faked at times.
Its ALWAYS been that way, even in years where we flirted with .500.
EXTREMELY skilled. Always. Probably why its so frustrating.
It is, however, a great life lesson. Being the most-talented or the best-looking really means nothing if the rest of the package isn't in place.

It's lack of on ice leadership, IMO. As much as I like Rau (and i've mentioned this many times) he's not C material.

I think the last good captain the Gophers have had was Taylor Mattson. He was the one leading the charge and making sure the 3rd period was "our period" because we were in better condition due to our summer work habits. Taylor wasn't the most skilled or best player, but he got the most out of what he had, and made sure the other guys around him did too. That to me, is what made him a great captain.

Yeap. Whether or not they actually wore the C, the best leaders this program has had over the past 20 years have never been the most talented.

Pohl and Potulny come to mind pretty quickly.

Very proud of the Gopher/Wild connection.
Whether it pays off or not.
The U has turned out some really great talent.
Damn fun to see them all reunited and focused on one goal again, together.
Never dreamed in a million years we'd reunite them all so quickly and all at one time. But I'm loving it.
And when you think about it, theres a couple more out there who would be great additions as well.
Excited to see how this plays out.

Let Kessel stay where he is. I would like to see Wheeler in a Wild sweater though.

Okposo, Goligoski, I'd even extend an olive branch to UMDs Nisky once that outrageous contract disappears.

We had Nick Leddy for a cup of coffee. I guess he's tied up somewhere else for a while now.

JMO, but Leddy isn't all that to begin with. It seemed like an asinine trade because Baker was such a monumental bust, and the Hawks won the cup, but really....NL has flamed out.

Really good Gopher team last night at times. We dominated that whole game and toyed with them at times. Their 2 bounce back goals in the first were a bit disturbing. Especially how easily they came after we scored. After the first we really shut it down for them and the game was never in doubt after that. One of the best 2 periods of hockey i've seen out of this bunch in really long time.

Damn near quit on this team for good after the two quick give-backs
Have you ever seen two more beautiful goals .... And two crappier defensive efforts immediately after?
Not sure I've ever followed a more frustrating bunch.

Newsflash...just stumbled across this in the guide....Gophers hockey is on ESPNews at 5:00. Was it also on ESPNews yesterday? Amazing how difficult it is to find games this season. They really make you dig deep.
