6th overall in 2013 Belichick gets him for a 5th rounder. The rich get richer.

Smart org.

Maybe. I know it's fashionable to blame everything on the Cleveland organization, but it's possible Mingo just isn't very good.

Entertaining to observe the different levels of expectations around the league.
The sky is apparently falling in Arizona today, GM pissed off, coach is furious at all facets of their game....
After losing to a perennial powerhouse on a botched FGA?
Methinks someone had overvalued their personnel's capabilities.
NE will always be a handful, no matter how many pieces they are missing.

Will be fun to watch the Carson Wentz story unfold.
Excellent debut.
Lets see what happens now going forward.
See it in so many sports. Once the league gets film on you, lets see what happens.
Enjoy those special days. They don't always last, but sometimes, they do.

Best coach in the game, and it is not even close. Stars/no stars, doesn't matter. He teaches team.

Players get better when they play for him.

He has mastered the art of demanding (and teaching you to expect) perfection, but doesn't kick you to the curb when you fall short. It's his job to make you better. He succeeds more in this aspect than any coach in the game.

He could probably even improve the Twins, a lot. I'm serious.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Denver Broncos safety Darian Stewart and linebacker Brandon Marshall will have to open their checkbooks in the wake of the team's 21-20 victory over the Carolina Panthers in last Thursday's NFL season opener.

Stewart has been fined $18,231 by the NFL, sources told ESPN, for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Panthers quarterback Cam Newton that came with just under 40 seconds remaining in the game.

Stewart was flagged for roughing the passer on the play, but Newton was also flagged for intentional grounding on the same play, offsetting the penalties.

Marshall, whose hit in the third quarter was not flagged, was fined $24,309 for impermissible use of a helmet, a source told ESPN.

"That's a huge fine, I know what it looks like, it looked bad, but that's a lot of money, so yes I'm upset about it," Marshall told reporters on Wednesday.

Replays clearly showed the contact, but Stewart said after the game that he believed he was playing within the rules.

"I thought I got him with my shoulder, too,'' Stewart said. "But he's a hard player to tackle, he's so big, and when he runs, he leans like a running back, coming right at you.''

Stewart and Marshall's fines raise the Broncos' season total by defensive players to three. Cornerback Bradley Roby was docked $24,309 for unnecessary roughness as a result of a hit on Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Duke Williams in a preseason game last month.

And more Broncos could be added to the list, given the league was reviewing several hits on Newton from the opener, including contact made on other plays by linebacker Von Miller and Roby.

NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino said Tuesday he believed one penalty had not been flagged for a hit on Newton in the game that should have been. That play is believed to be Marshall's hit.

Blandino, who issues a weekly highlight tape to officiating crews with points of emphasis for the upcoming week, included the Stewart and Marshall hits on this week's tape in an effort to help officials distinguish what's legal and what's not, according to ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder.

Several members of the Panthers and Newton's father, Cecil, said the reigning NFL MVP was treated unfairly by the officiating in the game.

The NFL and the NFL Players Association each said earlier in the week they would investigate how the concussion protocol was enacted in Newton's case to see if the quarterback was checked quickly and thoroughly enough during the game.

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak has defended his players against criticisms that the team is playing "dirty.''

"I disagree," Kubiak said Monday. "We play hard, we're going to continue to play hard.''

Said Marshall: "We're not dirty. When I think of dirty, I think of stepping on somebody's ankle at the bottom of the pile, twisting somebody around. We just play hard, man. We hit hard. We play fast ... we play faster than any defense in the league, in my opinion. Look at some of the dirty plays in the league. There's a lot of dirty players. That's not our M.O.''

The Broncos weren't the only team to be fined. Panthers guard Trai Turner was also fined $9,115 for taunting, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

They ought to have something akin to the college "death penalty".

They picked Leaf.

Eagles got Manning.

JK. Not comparing Wentz to Manning.
Manning wasn't this good his rookie year.

Goff looks like a mess. might be a couple years before he's ready to start...And how much did the Rams give up to pick first?

Stupid.

Stupid.

Stupid.

Loving what Carson Wentz is bringing to the Eagles.
Eagles are now everyone's boyeeeeeees
Not so fast my friends .... You have to realize they have Gym Shorts as their top D mind.
As long as he's in place there, they won't be relevant.

He's got no defense, no oline, no running game and he's lost a decent receiver.

He definitely tries to do too much considering his cast.

Suspended Browns WR Gordon entering rehab on brink of return

CLEVELAND (AP) — Suspended Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon says he's entering a rehab facility to "gain full control of my life."

Gordon is serving a four-game suspension for multiple violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy.

He was eligible to return next week, but the troubled 25-year-old released a statement on Thursday saying he decided to "step away from pursuing my return to the Browns and my football career to enter an in-patient rehabilitation facility."

The former Pro Bowler has only been able to attend meetings with the Browns during his latest suspension.

He was banned by the league for all of last season. The Browns had been encouraged by the progress he seemed to be making.

Gordon thanked the league, his teammates and agent for their support "through this extremely challenging process."

Gordon has been suspended for 30 of Cleveland's past 35 games.

At least he admits he needs to step away and take care of it.

I hope he uses JFF as an example of what NOT to do after entering an in-patient program.

i applaud him for the guts it took to admit he can't get control without serious help.

Luck has always reminded me of Adrian Peterson. Great fantasy players. The fantasy football people love them. But they're LOSERS. They fail in the big moments.

The colts have major problems, this is obvious.

The OL and receivers and lack of running game are contributing factors, but Luck seems 'scared' to take what he can get and tries too hard to carry the team on his shoulders.

I'd expect more savvy out of a guy who is supposed to be such a good leader.

Russell Wilson, who has thrown 30 touchdowns and three interceptions in his past 12 regular-season games dating back to last year.

That makes the Vikings playoff defense even more impressive

At first, the cold got credit

But since then they have done the same to Rodgers, Newton, and E Manning

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said during a radio interview this week that the team has had a difficult time improving its defense because it gave quarterback Andrew Luck a new $140 million contract during the offseason.

"We have a defense that is work in progress," Grigson said on Fox Sports Radio. "When you pay Andrew what we did, it's going to take some time to build on the other side of the ball."

The Colts have finished 20th or worse in defense in three of the four seasons Grigson, who was hired in 2012, has been general manager. All four of those years were while Luck was under his rookie contract.
