That sounds all good, but Murph talked about a bigger, meaner SOB that came after Tyson and would have beaten him at his peak. George Foreman doesn't qualify.

What heavyweight(s) that fought at any time during Tyson's era was the bigger, meaner SOB that would have beaten him if he had been completely focused, as was the statement made to refute Murph's point?

Don't worry, I'll wait.

I'll go one better. A focused Mike Tyson doesn't lose to Buster Douglas nor does he go to jail for rape.

Who is beating that Mike Tyson?

In the hypothetical Tyson career where D'amato didn't die, he would no way lost to Buster Douglas. Holyfield would have pushed him because he was a good fighter and as you pointed out he had no fear of Tyson. I think Tyson still wins. Lewis would have been an interesting match up because he had the size and power to take out Tyson.

As to rape, it could still have happened. There are prior allegations of Tyson trying to force himself on women as early as age 15.

Valdez vs Quigg tonight. Who you got? Looking forward to it. A couple stars on regular cable TV.

Wow! Quigg punched Valdez in the balls in the 11th. Valdez responded with his biggest outburst of the fight! Watching on DVR. Very close fight. I think Quigg has a 1-round advantage. But Valdez has won most of the late rounds. Could be a draw.

I don't think Valdez did enough to beat the bigger and stronger opponent. A good effort. But Quigg should win the decision.

Judges were not watching the same fight I watched. It was close IMO. Judges all had Valdez winning about 9 of 12 rounds. No way.

I had it on while also watching Garcia versus Lipinets on Showtime. I can't say I watched it as intently as you becuz I cared more about the other fight, but from what I did see, Valdez was dealing a very game Quigg.

It was a good fight no doubt. And it was a tad bloody. Did Valdez get his jaw broken?

They claimed it was not a broken jaw. They said he injured his tongue.

Just read that Valdez also lost a tooth and had a "separated jaw." That's quite a beating for a winning fighter.

Yeah, when your mouth is open and blood sort of flows, that ain't good lol. But, he's definitely a tough kid. Quigg is a grown ass man in the ring.

I think Frampton would beat his ass, but Valdez will be in every fight for sure. He'd make Leo Santa Cruz work. That would be a nice fight, though I doubt Arum would make it.

In other fighter news, Kell Brook should keep his mouth shut. No reason to call out and disrespect the guy who broke your eye socket, just becuz you won your first fight at a higher weight class.

I don't feel bad for him baiting Spence, who told him via social media that he'd break both eyes next time. Damn.

I miss the olden days when I could always count on Friday Night Fights. Seems like another lifetime ago.

Twins, what are your thoughts on the Canelo situation?

He tested dirty for some form of PED, this shit that's been found in contaminated meat in Mexico, that's known to have someone cut weight quick. Of course, how in the eff is someone of Canelo 's caliber consuming contaminated meat in the first place.

He's been suspended pending a hearing on April 18. The fight with GGG, though not officially off, is thought to be canceled or postponed. Refunds for tickets have already started.

Still can't find the MMA thread, but Rose Namajunas is 115 pounds of perfect fighter. I couldn't be more impressed.

Now we get to watch Khabib destroy.

To answer JT2's question, for some reason the Other Sports threads and the Soccer threads default to showing only threads that have had posts in the last 30 days. The only way I can view more threads is by changing the drop-down on the top-right of those forums to more days...like 365. But it doesn't remember this for next time I log in. Kind of annoying.

Still can't get to it.

Anyway, great MMA card Saturday. Unfortunately Holloway had to scratch. His opponent, Brian Ortega, bad boy from Torrance, is the real deal. His ground game scares the shit out of people. Too bad that was scratched.

But, still a great card. Two fantastic heavyweight bouts. Stipe vs Cormier. Cormier is a legend. Stipe may be the 2nd best well-rounded big fighter in the game.
Stipe is a technician. Studies you like a savant. Patient, and finds your weakness. Then it's over.

Then you have Ngannou vs. Lewis. Francis Ngannou is 260 pounds of freak muscle. He makes Herschel Walker look fat. He's the MMA version of a young Mike Tyson. Imposing physical presence. Intimidating. Aggressive. Great striker. Comes out of the gate at 10.

His opponent, Derrick Lewis, is no slouch. Great chin, great striker. He's a bulldog. Great shit-talker. These two will settle this standing up. Over 500 pounds of power in the octagon. Neither of them are fat. This is a battle of freak, giant athletes.

I got Stipe over Cormier.
Ngannou over Lewis.

I bhope that UFC card lived up to your expectations. Do you think the Lesnar part was staged?

Some real good fights on ESPN, headlined by Regis Prograis. That dude is a killer. Oh, and Manny is fighting Lucas Mattysse, though its on the ESPN+ app. I'm wavering on purchasing it for the fight. I used my free trial for Bud Crawford's beatdown of Jeff Horn.
