I don't need it to make sense. I just want the ammo to land Bryce Young.

The heart wants what it wants.

What pick do you think you need to get to to get him? PFF has him ranked #1.

For us to get the #1 PFF says we need need to give them our #1 this year for 2023, 2024, and 2025. Plus SF's #1 we get for trading KC. Plus our 2025 2nd rounder.

Would you do it?

Kinda why I wanted the deal to go through Houston. Such a steep price. But sure...let's call it out "one time!"

KC could win on a stacked team. We aren't that team.

So could half the QBs in the league in any given year.

Why is everyone so hell bent on Trey Lance being "the guy"? He's played about a season of football (not NFL, just football) in about 5 years. He played in a system that just saw the last pick in the draft have success (aka, it's a stacked team).

We know nothing of the dude's ability.

I am not convinced by if you can get him for a 3rd rounder the risk/reward is ok.

Nice, Ricky.

All I have are doubts any more lol ..

Hang in there, Todd.. If the staff can fix the defense then I'll have a little more hope. Cant expect us to do much more than one and done with what we were working with, imo

Since we seem to be pursuing Flores or Evero ... coaches in the running for HC positions ... seems like we are looking for a quick temporary fix to jumpstart the defense ... hiring some guy that, if successful, will probably be gone next off season. (i.e., instead of some young riser / college dude to come in and build a reputation while putting this thing together)

This offseason, we seem to at least be giving lip service to the urgency of fixing this defense. Cut the string and hire someone non-dinosaurish (Flores 41 yrs old / Evero 42 yrs old) ... give some attention to our inflated contracts / slow veterans before March 15 (i.e., make some room for new blood, maybe even a FA or two) ... those two prerequisites alone will go a ways to restoring some hope for improvement.

(after hiring the GM / HC last offseason, it felt like we were in treading water / 'lets see what we've got' mode)

Sounds like the flip side of Zimmers offensive coordinator carousel.

So I'm willing to come off the most expensive trade up ever to wherever we can land Anthony Richardson. Not sure how long we could wait to trade up but at least the trade up would be out of franchise altering high cost range.

I like the highlights of Richardson, but he seems raw. The ideal would be if he fell into the 2nd round, and the Vikes got him there after trading down from #23.

Consider taking a flyer on Hendon Hooker. Had a late injury so he should drop, what, maybe a round? 4th rounder on one site. I don't know.

SEC.

27 TD, 2 Int in 2022.

31 TD, 3 Int in 2021.

Taking flyers on injured players appears to be a Kwesi strong suit.

Richardson is an amazing athlete... but not accurate... I think he would need a ton of work.

I would be very excited to get Hendon Hooker... seems to have all the needed attributes and you could get him without spending a 1st.

Hard to say about Hooker. He's already 25. Although then he would be pratically 30 and still on his rookie contract, depending on where he is drafted. Plus who doesn't want a quarterback named hooker?

I have not considered what the consequences may be. Solid points though.

Looking like the so called "connection" with KAM/KOC with Evero was a bit overblown as that Evero spurned them and is now the Panthers new DC.

This reeks of amateurism.

I hope he just liked the Panthers as a fit based on the good experiences he had as a HC candidate and now the interview as a DC and not necessarily spurned us 'cause we're the Vikings.

Thats just Bill being a fustrado and putting a sour spin on things.

Presumably going to a team with a humungously higher rated defense (in the 22-25 range) and a whopping surplus of 8M in cap space (compared to our negative gaping deficit) with a hefty boodle of draft picks compared to our meager paltry sum … had something to do with it.

We are in cap hell..

Our defense is full of overpriced, slow veterans.

Our cupboard is bare of quality draft picks.

We are in a division that is going to be difficult,T to win, and our upcoming schedual is no cake walk.

Not exactly a plumb position, comparatively speaking.

As long as we do not hire some Dinosaur, I will be happier.

It would be nice to trade off some cap hit players for picks that can be used to maneuver a bit in the draft.

Spielman and his penchant for “catastrophic extensions” to aging, mediocre players has screwed our team for at least 2 more years

Panthers have one of the best defense personnel....easy to see why he went there. The coach was so horrible offensively last year.

Broncos also have the personnel.

Hope Flores comes but the issue isn't only the coaching.

Some the other defensive coordinator positions are places one could stay for awhile.

The Vikings defensive coordinator had a very poorly run scheme, so the chances are great if you're any good, that there will be more noticeable improvement, and you're likely to get much of the credit for it.

So come to Minnesota and move the defense up 10 spots, and you will be a hot head coaching candidate next year.

If Rodgers is traded away the NFC North has the most underwhelming collection of QB's outside the NFC South.

I think the division is wide open if Rodgers leaves. I seriously doubt that equals "playoff run" by any of the teams but 9 wins will keep you in the mix all year.

Poorly run scheme?
Look at the 3 prior years in a 4-3.
It is more players than scheme.

Are you content with winning a week division? I'm not.

No, but it is what it is.

If you think the Vikings are going to release/trade everybody on the roster and shoot for 0-17 to get Caleb Williams be prepared to be disappointed.

After this season if they think Caleb Williams is the next Mahomes, I would have no issue trading away Jefferson and 3 or 4 future first round picks. I say this because I would trade 8-10 future first round picks for Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has done fine without Hill.

Kwesi will be judged by his next QB and if he doesn’t get aggressive and/or hit a home run I will be disappointed. Drafting whoever is available and living with it for 3 years would be “very Speilman”.

The true elite QBs don’t need HOF WR. Manning Brady Mahomes seem to have done fine with WR that were barely average.
