Griffin from Oklahoma takes a back seat to no one this year. May be better than Beasley.

I think this year is fairly wide open, with the main competition being between UNC, Louisville, Duke, and UCLA. I think the early rankings are pretty accurate this year and I think one of those 4 will take home the trophy.

Stephen Curry is amazing.
Carries little Davidson against Goliath every night.
They took Griffin and his club to the limit the other night.
Just a beautiful creator and shooter. Whether he can mold his game to the pro level, I guess we'll see.
Iversons made a pretty good career of it, and he was nowhere near the shooter Curry is in college.
It's scary to go with a top-5 pick on a little guy, but when you need a leader/ball-handler as badly as we do, wouldn't he fit?

Curry is absolutely my favorite college player. Like you said magnificent shooter. I don't know that he can be a point guard in the NBA though.

Understood.
But I don't think he can be your SG (in the NBA) at that size, either.
Tough to know if his game will relate until we see it happen.

He seems to be built exactly for the ncaa game. Size, speed and strength are going to be serious obstacles at the next level.

UNC, temporarily playing without Hansbrough, is really good for them in the long run.

I'm a big DeJuan Blair fan. That team is physical and well coached. A little shy on the bench, but if the refs let them play, they're hard to beat.

Duke defense tonight was fun to watch. Second half, Michigan couldn't even get a shot off. Gerald Henderson is a stud.

man, we have the same basketball mind (except Duke/UNC of course

). I love Blair's toughness too. And ya, I'm a HUGE Henderson fan. His athleticism is off the charts. I think he's another one of those guys who will be much better in the NBA than college. Hopefully he really breaks out for my Dukies this year, as I expect him to.

And DeJuan Blair went 13-14 from the field, 27 points, 18 rebounds. No turnovers, cuz he has Karl Malone hands.

If Pitt had a true C, they'd be the second best team in the country.

Here's what I like about Stephen Curry ...
Loyola (MD) coach played a triangle-and-2 on him all night .... all night.
He was double-teamed all night, everywhere on the court.
Held Curry to 3 shots. He didn't force a thing.
Davidson won by 30, because the Kid was happy to let his teammates win the 4-on-3 it left them.

Super refreshing compared to some of the ballhog college stars the last couple years like Durant, Melo, and Beasley.

Some great bb the last couple of nights. Flynn was clutch and Harris is a serious stud. UConn, Pitt and Syracuse are going to have some great battles this season.

The Big 10 is really poor after Purdue and Michigan St.

UNC destroyed a very good ND team. Lawson stays healthy and I don't know how anybody can beat them.

Justin Mason (UT) has been fun to watch. If/when he learns to shoot, he's really going to be trouble.

UAB held their own against Oklahoma. Vaden kinda' faded late, but they are definitely a top 25 team in February.
B.Griffin is a beast. He needs to learn to be more aggressive with his passes. His decision making is real good against the doubles, but he gets a bit lazy kicking it out. He can definitely put that team on his shoulders for a great tourney run.

UNC really has a favorable schedule. They have Michigan St. next week, and the only teams in-conference with a legit shot at beating them are Duke and Clemson.

One of my sleeper teams had a nice win. Baylor plays fast.

Duke's defense was damn impressive last night. Singler is really a beast. Still waiting for that Henderson breakout; I think it will come, but it may not fully come until the NBA level. His athleticism is off the charts though. Reminds me a lot of Grant Hill in some ways with how smooth he is. He really does seem like he glides in similar ways at times.

Also, Nolan Smith just adds so much to the Duke defense over Paulus. It gives a lot more length, and it allows everyone else to play tighter defense on their man instead of cushioning Paulus'. I don't know if there's a better perimiter defense in the country (1-4 actually) than Duke's this year.

I do have two continual questions though; if you're a big man, why would you not go to Duke right now? That's all they're missing to win a title. I continue to believe that if EITHER of Patrick Patterson (last year) or Greg Monroe (this year) had committed to Duke, they'd be a virtual lock for the title this year. And both were reportedly SOOOO close.

On the other hand, if you're a stud guard, why the hell WOULD you go to Duke right now? Elliott Williams has to be hating life as it's almost impossible to crack that rotation of Smith/Scheyer/Paulus/Henderson.
