We can't start picking quite yet, but it's a good time to get this up and running again and add new members is anyone wants in.

Due to a plea from last year, picks can now be made up to five minutes before the start of the first game of the week. It had previously been one hour before. Don't forget that in your options (settings, whatever) you can request a reminder e-mail a day or two before.

Both the Survival Pool and the Picks Pool are accepting picks now. Remember that the first game of the season is next Thursday (Packers v. Seattle) so don't wait too long to get your picks in. A good tip is to do your picks NOW, really early, because you know you can edit them up until the last minute.

I can relate KG. I seem to always start out looking pretty brilliant*, but a few weeks into the season my standing starts to drop and I spend the rest of the season fighting for the basement spot. I'm looking for a change in my own personal success at the same time that our Vikings climb from worst to first and have a string of memorable seasons and build a dynasty. My wishes are rarely modest.


*compared to people who have never watched a football game in their lives

I stopped playing this because I was always getting it handed to me.

So I went down to the minors (my wife's office pool picking for her) and I feel I am ready for the big leagues again!

It's true - I was offline most of the afternoon - but hopefully got your invitation out to you in time. You have just over a half hour to get picks in, but if you miss the deadline you can still pick the remaining games for the weekend and just take the hit on the first game with a loss and -16 points.

I am slightly annoyed that I can't change any of my picks in the games that are still to come. I wanted to change my points on Carolina beating Tampa Bay from 5 down to 2.

That's just the way the site fixes it. The only option I have as commish is to set the time before the first game and I set it at the shortest time of five minutes before kick off.

It's all good Lynn. I wanted to congratulate Art for winning the first week but then I saw he picked against the Vikings. That is just wrong. His big pick was having miami beat NE.

Up and down week picking that's for sure. I spent some time right near the bottom. Somehow, even missing on my big weights I managed to keep the top guys in sight.

Speaking of up and down picking I pulled in a rare first place finish this week. That should about do it for my upward thrust. Freefall starts on Thursday.
