Lynn G. -> 2015 Picks Pool (8/15/2015 10:21:42 AM)

We're 26 days away from the first real game. Time to get your ducks in a row and sign up for the picks pool. If you were in the pool last year they automatically keep you in again, and even if you never picked last year you may still be in. If you are not in the pool just send me a PM with your e-mail address and I can send you a fresh invitation from the site. Newcomers always welcome and appreciated.

This is a weighted pool, so you not only pick your winners but you put them in order of which game you feel the most confident in your pick to the lowest. Best of luck everyone!

I'm calling this the Jim Frenette Memorial Picks Pool for this year because he was a helpful co-administrator and he loved making picks. We miss you Jim!

The name of the pool is:

Pick, Weigh and Gloat

and the password is: winners

Tim Cady -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (9/18/2015 9:50:16 AM)

Thanks for keeping my entry active Lynn! I got in and made picks for week 2. I can't remember the last year I participated here with my original Strib family (est. 1998). I signed up for picks and survivor through KFAN week one. Must have been a one week thing. My survivor pick last week was Green Bay. St. Louis is my 16, thus my Survivor pick this week. I hate the Thursday games! They ruin picks pools and fantasy football for me. I miss setting lineups, making picks and deciding Survivors on Sunday Morning, it was a gentler more laid back time...I sound old.[;)] "Hey Kids Get off my Yard!" Where was I?

Lynn G. -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (9/18/2015 9:56:33 AM)

Glad you squeezed in Tim, and I agree with you about the Thursday games. It doesn't seem natural somehow. In fact I DID set my picks on Wednesday because I got the reminder from the picks pool site, but then promptly forgot about the Thursday game and when I came in here this morning I was surprised to read comments about Denver and Kansas City, as if they were playing each other. Oh that's right, they were.

So I agree with you, but you still sound old. [:D]

I Own it![8|]

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (9/20/2015 3:37:40 PM)

man i despise week 2 in this pool.

i should know, every year, to make picks then reverse them all before kickoff, in week 2

Tim Cady -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (9/20/2015 8:24:48 PM)

You got that right Dan! I have not dared checked, but I think I might very well have missed every game. [&:]

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (9/21/2015 11:21:36 PM)

if i had flipped my teams i'd have had 89 or so points instead of the 47 i got..

[&:][&:]

Tim Cady -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (9/23/2015 6:40:26 PM)

I got 2 games right and one was the Packers #15 winning. Talk about the worst week in the history of picks! My only other correct pick was Pittsburg 14
over the 49ers (short week going east).

If I flip my picks I have 107 versus the 29 I logged. [&:]

Lynn G. -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (9/24/2015 8:56:02 AM)

Only one way to go from here Tim. You're going UP! [:D]

Tim Cady -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (9/24/2015 4:58:01 PM)

I am going to try something different this week Lynn! The new system has to do with picking in less than a minute and then numbering from there with no changes.

Lynn G. -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (9/24/2015 10:27:24 PM)

That actually sounds like a winning strategy. [:D]

I've done a couple of different things over the years, including just picking all of the home teams and not changing the weighting from the way the games popped up to start with. My track record gives you a clue how those kinds of genius moments have worked for me. [sm=tease.gif]

Tim Cady -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (9/25/2015 8:09:21 AM)

All home teams you say?[&:]

My week 3 might look something like that...[&o]

Tim Cady -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (9/28/2015 11:26:51 AM)

[&:] After 2 weeks of rejoining the pool I am 1 count it 1 point better than the auto pickers! AKA no submitters!

Lynn G. -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (10/14/2015 10:16:32 AM)

Wow - I think this week's picks were the toughest yet. A lot of games that really easily could go either way.

Tim Cady -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (10/20/2015 4:12:59 PM)

Damn Thursday games. I cannot think to do picks most weeks before Thursday.

Tim Cady -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (10/20/2015 5:03:00 PM)

Except today! I am looking for a week 7 victory. Top of the leaderboard, if only for one week, that is the mission!

Lynn G. -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (10/20/2015 8:22:12 PM)

It's a worthy mission Tim. I'm rooting for you. [:D]

Lynn G. -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (11/4/2015 8:37:39 AM)

I'm probably going to jinx myself for writing this, but this week's picks seemed to be about the easiest of the season. So many games where it was a clear cut good team against a clear cut bad team.

Now I'll brace myself for a plummet to last place in the standings.

Tim Cady -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (11/6/2015 11:37:35 AM)

Lynn you have no chance at last place when I remember to submit my picks (Did I mention I hate Thursday games?) I know my life is going well when I am completely terrible at picks. (My silver lining)

Tim Cady -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (11/12/2015 11:32:42 AM)

Making some noise now. 3rd place 6 points off the lead. I am due! Go Detroit and NY Giants!

Good enough for top of the leaderboard. I was so mad I could of sworn I picked San Fran to beat Atlanta.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (11/20/2015 7:37:48 AM)

I see Tim and I are the only ones TO BELIEVE!!

GO VIKES!!

Lynn G. -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (11/20/2015 8:27:51 AM)

Everyone but one of us picked the Vikings this week.

If you're talking about giving them the highest rating, not so sure you should be bragging about that. I looked back and not only did you not even pick them to win at least once, there were 2 or 3 times you picked them but only gave them a 1 rating. Chest thumping doesn't become you Dan. But for the record I hope you get every one of those points this week. [:D]

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (11/20/2015 10:53:10 AM)

Oh please it's packer week every pick should be 14 Vikes.

I have picked the vikes 7 out of ten times to win.

wrong on SF [:-]
picked detroit after the debacle in SF, when I was in shock at how bad they looked

and was wrong[:o],

picked denver @ denver, because, It was denver @ denver... not that big a shock and would have liked to have been wrong[sm=shrug.gif] ...

and waiting on sunday to stomp the Pukers in to nacho cheeze sauce...

Some care more about pool points than others.

Lynn G. -> RE: 2015 Picks Pool (11/20/2015 8:09:12 PM)

If the way we picked actually had a direct influence on the outcome of the games, you'd have a point. I would pick the Packers to lose and the Vikings to win every single game if it actually made a difference in Realityville.

But I'll let you in on a little secret, it doesn't.

You can make your picks specifically to send an "in-your-face" message if you want, but don't pretend that people who pick based on the way they actually believe games will go are somehow weak or disbelievers. This is just for fun.
