I'm on the exact same page.

As things stand at the present time, the Minnesota Vikings only have five picks going into the 2018 NFL Draft. Their fourth round pick is currently owned by the Miami Dolphins, while their seventh round pick will go to the Seattle Seahawks in the trade that brought cornerback Tramaine Brock to Minnesota.

However, according to a pretty reliable source for these sorts of things, the Vikings will be back up to their regular number of picks, thanks to the NFL’s Compensatory Draft Pick system.

According to the good folks from Over the Cap, the Vikings are projected to receive two extra selections from the Compensatory process. Their projections have both of those picks being slotted at the end of Round 6 of this year’s draft.

Why does Miami hold our 4th again.

I remember taking them for their 3rd and 4th in a trade...is this us spitting one back? If so it lessons that that trade.

Sam Bradford trade. The pick then went to Miami in the Jai Ajayi trade.

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles for starting quarterback Sam Bradford.

The Vikings will give up a first-round pick in 2017 and an additional pick in 2018.

The fourth-round pick in 2018 can escalate to as much as a second-rounder if the Vikings win the Super Bowl and Bradford plays 80% of the snaps, a person with knowledge of the deal said, speaking on condition of anonymity because details were to remain private.

Ah, very good. Thanks. I should have been able to scratch that one together.

can we transition one of our qb's we don't want and get a 2nd, or negotiate a deal out of it?....

drviking -> RE: 2018 NFL Draft (1/29/2018 12:12:09 PM)

feels good to start this thread so late

it will feel even better to start this thread when we have the #32 pick!

Mark Anderson -> RE: 2018 NFL Draft (1/29/2018 12:24:36 PM)

Georgia Olineman Isaiah Wynn

Ohio State Olineman Billy Price

TEs Andrews and Fumigali

fmaltes -> RE: 2018 NFL Draft (1/29/2018 1:05:08 PM)

I was watching NFL network footage of Senior Bowl practices and I was really impressed by Darius Leonard, LB from South Carolina State. Very fast and looked good in coverage. He would fill our need for a cover LB and likely be available in the middle rounds.

Technically you could negotiate a deal for an asset to not match with another team, but there are no draft pick compensations built into it.

A transition player designation gives the club a first-refusal right to match within seven days an offer sheet given to the player by another club after his contract expires. If the club matches, it retains the player. If it does not match, it receives no compensation.

But I doubt anyone is going to give us a draft pick for the opportunity to sign Case, Teddy or Sam for 19M.

Do we have a need for a cover LBer?

Depends on what we do with Barr.

We still need a 3rd LB that can cover unless we hang on to Lamur

Bruce Johnson -> RE: 2018 NFL Draft (1/29/2018 3:41:40 PM)

Who is our backup at MLB? Wilson?

Lamur I believe replaced Barr when he missed a game. I don't think Kendricks ever missed any time but my guess Lamur would have been the guy due to being a good cover guy. Although they may have done LB by committee depending on down and distance.

Lars -> RE: 2018 NFL Draft (1/31/2018 2:44:08 PM)

Lamur will be gone.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: 2018 NFL Draft (1/31/2018 3:27:01 PM)

We don't know what's going to happen in free agency, but if we don't pick up a middle linebacker, then I will be shocked if we don't draft one, then. I guess we'll be more clear in about six weeks.

Isn't that Eric Kendrick's job?

Yes. I'm talking about Kendrick's backup.

Bill Jandro -> RE: 2018 NFL Draft (2/2/2018 7:19:24 AM)

I could see us picking a LB high to groom for a year to replace Barr or Kendricks if we can't afford to re-sign both.

Right now Lumur is the only guy that could step in if either starter went down. So if we cut Lumur we certainly need another LB that can cover.

He would be nice.

If not him, maybe Stanford DT slips to us in 2nd round.
