Reshard Cliett LB, 6-2, 222, 26 years old. Cliett has floated around a number of NFL teams, and it’s easy to see why — he’s certainly more skilled than most of the bottom-of-the-roster linebackers one sees in training camps, and he can fulfill special teams roles that those linebackers need to perform. But he also is a clearly undersized linebacker that can be swallowed up on the second level or overtaken by large tight ends in coverage. The South Florida alum is one of the faster linebackers in camp, and he pairs that with agility that belies his poor scores from his pro day. By moving quickly and easily, while also maintaining discipline in his punt and kickoff coverage lanes, he can be a useful special teams player that may not earn much time on the field with the defense even as a backup. Cliett had his moments and has pass coverage upside, but he hasn’t translated enough of that upside into talent on the field quite yet. He can be a defensive asset in the long run, but the Vikings would have to wait it out.
