There are starting caliber guards in every draft. In the past, when a team, any team, has gotten 10 sacks on a division rival while playing at home, do they typically go to that teams' later in the season and get 15 sacks ?

Detroit will probably counter by running heavily, mostly short passes, with perhaps some misdirection plays that lead to a few deep throws. On defense, I expect Detroit to play loose and blitz heavily.

And with heavy betting on Vikes, a very good chance Detroit is in the lead midway through the 3rd quarter and maybe beyond. This will probably be a tough game.

Having Rhodes on the other side makes it tougher for him- not easier. Opposing teams are shying away from Rhodes and picking on Waynes.

If you suck, then you are being picked on. If you're good, you give less cushion and make more plays on the ball. Give Hughes or Hill about 10 starts, and they will be better than Waynes.

It's nice that Kerryon Johnson isn't playing. It makes it more possible the Vikes overcome the first half 'sway' that will push for Detroit having a good chance at covering the spread, and instead have the Vikes play well enough to where the refs give up helping the Lions, and the Lions give up as their season nears it's end.

i think that barr belongs in a 3-4 defense - his sacks are from blitzing and any solid olb would get some sacks there....

could we transition tag barr and then trade him once a deal is done?...i think that richardson would be more amenable to a deal than barr, and we really don't have anyone of richardson's caliber waiting in the wings...i was focusing on jaleel johnson while watching the condensed version of the miami game and he was consistently being pushed backward....

i can't figure out why gedeon is starting over wilson...he's like the rudolph of the defense - visibly slow...seattle and miami were both scheming their offense to keep him on the field - our defense has been playing so well that it hasn't mattered much....

For sure. 10 against a rival happens all the time and the next meeting usually results in 15 or more. The record is 12 but just ignore that.

I was a big Wright guy but the new 17 has more TD's in his season with us that the old one did in his 3 years.

We complain we need a #3 but AR has actually put up pretty decent #'s. Some of our 1's and 2's going back to recent history haven't done as much...TD wise.

If the #1 corner is always locking down his guy, you go after the #2 corner. Probably even line up your top WR on that side.

Unlike Waynes 1 INT, and allowing too many conversions.

Marty you are way off base here. Zimmer's DBs don't take those risks very often to step in front of a pass and pick it off. It's been that way for his entire time here. You don't see it very often. Rhodes doesn't have a lot of INTs, Neither does Waynes, or Alexander or Hill. Hughes had one before blowing his knee. Zimmers DBs are focused on covering their guy contesting passes and if the guy catches the ball getting them to the ground without runs after catches.

In this last game vs the Dolphins their top two WRs hardly caught anything were rarely targeted and there is a reason for that. Blanket coverage by Rhodes and Waynes. They are both very good. Waynes has been for the past three years one of the best tacklers at his position.

I would love to see more INTs from these guys but I've come to accept that this is not what Zimmer preaches. Waynes is nearly always right on his guy. and his guy if they make a catch NEVER gets any YAC. Waynes is very good for a number 2, would probably be a number 1 on many teams. And the only reason we are discussing him leaving is simply put, we have an improving Alexander, and talented youngsters in Hughes and Hill. We can let him go and still have pretty good coverage.

Leaving the “Miami is a way substandard defense” out of it.

I believe we’ve found our recipe to winning for this years team.

Pound Dalvin/Murray.
Play action improves.
Defense is coming on.
Bailey is locked on other side of facility from Priefer.

Those touchdowns are nice. And being on the wrong side of a scoring touchdowns debate probably isn't wise but I think of all the 3rd downs he converted into first downs. He was money on 3rd downs.

Cousins is making Robinson because he throws a really great (and super accurate) deep ball, and that's the one place that Robinson can shine.

Aldrick is a really limited player. He doesn't run good routes (its amazing how often he ends up right next to another WR...), he doesn't get open - except when he gets behind the defense and he has mediocre hands.

There is a reason he's on his 4th team in 5 years (and was even totally out of the NFL in 2015). He's the very definition of a Journeyman.

But to his (and our) credit, we found a role that suits him. And he deserves snaps. But we really need a 3rd guy that can move the chains and take defensive pressure off Diggs and Thielen (and help open the middle of the field for our running game). Maybe its a modern TE that plays like a Big WR, in that case Aldrick can probably stay as a #3 (or co-#3 with a bigger chain over depending on situations).

Yeap but the kid has major issues in his life. Goes all the way back to grade school.

Pats are done this year. They make the playoffs but not the SB IMO. They looked slow when he was on the field. Now?? [:-]
