Dallas.......2 good chances 2 goals.....we lose.

Wild games in a nutshell.

Another smack down in Winnipeg last night
Beaten 4-1
I see some others played.
On to Colorado this weekend.
Better compete against them, they're supposedly the greatest team ever assembled. [&o]

I did like the look of #41, Johnson.

He kept showing up in a good way.

Soucy wasn't bad either.

Good eye, imo
Soucy was my guy, and I liked Hartmans game
Especially when he SCORED... shortly after beating the absolute snot out a kid who deserved it.

Yeah,

On Hartman, I was thinking to myself:
"this is one of our big off-season signings-meh"

And then he blasted that kid for a late hit and scored.
Then I'm thinking, ok, I can can used to this!
[8D]

Yup, I pretty much agree with all of the above.
I liked Johnson and Soucy and Warner getting physical was nice to see as well.
We could have really solid 3rd and 4th lines, but as usual the problem will be our top 6.
We just don't have scorers up there and if our bottom 2 lines can't pop some in we are in trouble. As in the past, we buzzed around and controlled large portions of the game, but couldn't score. Dallas.......2 good chances 2 goals.....we lose.

Exactomundo!

Dominate, can't finish (Finish!) and lose.

Classico Wild.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (9/19/2019 1:21:07 PM)

and worst thing about being a Wild fan … you sit there the entire game KNOWING how it will end.

95% of the time, it will play out the same way

awwwww, just missed on that
geeeeee, probably shouldn't have given up that first goal …
damnnnnnn, we almost scored ……
boyyyyy, we're all over them …….
oh my goshhhhhhh, they just got that one good chance, and beat us. Gol darn it.

twinsfan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (9/19/2019 3:05:13 PM)

What a disaster so far!

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (9/22/2019 7:52:38 AM)

Playing what appeared to be mostly the Avs AHLers, we finally scored a few goals and won a game yesterday. Duby looks to be in mid season form mishandling pucks behind the net and putting the D in bad positions to play the puck at an alarming rate. I am starting to think Zuccarello will fill the hole left by Granlund as a set up man only be stronger on the puck. Nice to finally get one in the W column even if it is just preseason.

Lynn G. -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (9/22/2019 9:49:08 AM)

Well, to be fair, the Wild have been playing a lot of our own AHLers - so perhaps we shouldn't be too panicked.

Yet.

Strange off season in Winnipeg continues.
Zero surprise that Byfuglien is thinking about quitting.
Lots of unrest there, with some really talented players.
Hope it all blows up because if they were all on the same page, we'd all be in trouble.

Very strange with the money is due to make.

Gotta love BB (still)

"if they pick you to finish 32 out of 31 teams, you better damn-well be pissed off"

Yep. If you don't like it then do something about it. Don't whine about disrespect (ala Yeo), get pissed off and force them to rethink that conversation.

Interesting to watch all the pre-season crapola last night on FSN
They were very un-Minnesota-like
Paul Fenton not only got knocked down by the bus, that poor MFer got parked on top of ….. after we spun on him for a bit. [:-]

I guess, easy guy to blame all our woes on. We'll see.

Guerin seems awesome. We'll see.
Walz was better. Pretty honest evaluation of whats wrong here. They all got held to the fire about lack of scoring.
Bad thing was, they blamed most of that on Dumba and Koivu's absences. Their reappearance won't fix things, imo.
Hell, he even said Dubnyk was a problem. Kind of. Time for real self-evaluation, it was refreshing.
Just words now, but at least they seem to be better about admitting shortcomings.

I actually like the two signings that Fenton made in Zuc and Hartman before being let go. We will see what they do with Rask and if Zucker can have a better season.

Did they mention how poor Zucker played last year?

I don't mind adding Zuc, but he way overpaid for him.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (9/24/2019 11:01:08 AM)

They pointed out how many guys took steps back, especially in the second half
I hadn't realized what a drop off we had
We were actually in the top 5 in many offensive categories at the half way point, then sank to the complete bottom by the end
That's hard to do
Walz really likes the Zuccarello and Hartman pickups, but what else can he say
He worried about the drop off and blamed it on getting rid of Granlund, but he feels Zucc can pick up that slack.
No real mentions of Zucker. He talked a little bit and it appears he is Amish now? Shave that crap off, dude.

It is weird with Zucker....he sucked for most of last year but it hasn't been discussed as much after the trade talks fizzled. I like that they brought in Stafford too...

Here is an article showing some appreciation for Nick Seeler. I've liked this about him from the start. He's one guy who will always stand up for his teammates without fail.

Wild players know blueliner Nick Seeler has their back

By DANE MIZUTANI | dmizutani@pioneerpress.com | Pioneer Press
PUBLISHED: September 24, 2019 at 1:59 pm | UPDATED: September 24, 2019 at 2:00 pm

Watching Wild defenseman Nick Seeler spark his teammates with haymaker after haymaker to poor Avalanche defenseman Dan Renouf in a recent preseason game, it’s hard to imagine that he once was an undersized kid almost ready to give up on his NHL dreams.

Long before Seeler emerged as a mainstay on the Wild blue line — part of his job is to take on some of the toughest guys in the league — the 6-foot-2, 198-pound 26-year-old was a teenager at Eden Prairie High School who couldn’t make the varsity roster.

“I just wasn’t growing and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue with it,” Seeler said before quickly pausing to correct himself. “Well, I guess wouldn’t say that. It was just difficult to stay motivated sometimes.”

Those doubts eventually started to fade away for Seeler.

Once he hit a growth spurt that allowed him to develop into a star on the blue line, he helped lead Eden Prairie to a pair of Class 2A state championships before moving on to the next level.

It was around that time that he also developed quite the mean streak, something that followed him to Nebraska-Omaha, where he played for a couple of seasons, and back home again when he transferred to finish his collegiate career with the Gophers.

After turning pro, Seeler played more than 100 games in the American Hockey League before cracking the NHL, and despite leaning into his role as an enforcer on the back end, doubt started to creep in again.

Was he ever going to accomplish his goal of reaching the NHL?

“There were definitely times I wondered,” Seeler said. “Just dealing with that type of adversity has made me continue to work and improve my game. It’s been a great journey so far.”

And it looks like it might just be getting started.

Not only has Seeler found niche on the blue line, he has developed into a heart-and-soul kind of player, willing to stick up for his teammates whenever the situation calls for it.

“Just compared to where I was a few seasons ago, it’s almost night and day,” he said. “There’s definitely more comfort. That said, I have a mindset where I’m never going to get comfortable. Just have to come in and earn my spot every day and continue to work on it.”

That’s something Seeler has had to do yet again this training camp, competing with fellow blueliners Greg Pateryn and Brad Hunt for a spot in the lineup.

With Ryan Suter, Matt Dumba, Jared Spurgeon, and Jonas Brodin holding down the top pairings, that leaves just a couple of spots up for grabs on the backend.

“It’s healthy competition between teammates,” Seeler said. “There’s always going to be competition for those spots. You just have to go out and earn it. I definitely put the hard work in this summer. Just need to continue to play my game.”

Which for Seeler means continuing to answer the bell whenever the situation calls for it.

Love that dude
There'd always be a roster spot for him in my world.

Interesting as hell to watch the Wild on Dallas TV last night
EVERY Dubnyk apologist needed to hear what they were saying.
They NAILED him.
* makes some terrific stops
* wow he covers the net
* looks athletic even tho he's huge
Then …
* just keep throwing it at him boys, he'll let in a stinker
* all you have to do is let him handle the puck and he'll give you opps
* seriously boys …. throw it at him, he'll help you out at the worst times

Honestly, we played like we were protecting a lead in Game 7 of the Cup finals
We panicked anytime a puck started to go near Dubnyk, and that's what preserved the win.
We can be hard to play against when everyone buys in
Zuccarello is pretty damn good
Dallas misses him, they were nothing but impressed with him at the end of last year
Dumba looked really sharp, just hope he doesn't fall thru the ice after he makes his 15th straight spin circle get away. They're gonna catch on to that move, kid.
Not much offense, but we have chosen that path.
Greenway came alive last night, Foligno does that to linemates

I caught just a part of the game last night, but I really like that big line with Foligno, Greenway, and Ek. Once they got the puck down deep they were in the zone until they got tired and Dallas had no answer.

Kind of takes you back to the old Maruk, Plett and McKegny line with the North Stars. Throw the puck behind the net and then just pound them into submission.

Exactly what they did.

Dallas's announcers kept saying "we've got no answer for that line"

Inherited this this morning from a co-worker.
