Rask / Foligno / Hartman has been a nonstop pain in the other team's ass. Game after game after game. Turns out the other guys don't like their top lines spending entire shifts in their own end of the ice.

The key to great success in any league.
Make the other teams best players HAVE to work hard on defense.

They kind of remind me of some those old North Star checking lines that featured Mike Polich and Tom Younghans. Those two could bottle a team up in it's own zone like nobody I had ever seen before. The current line has more firepower than they ever did, but damn, they used to aggravate the living shit out of the other team.

I'm betting BB breaks out the beach ball in Arizona tomorrow night.....

What is the Beach Ball? Is that a player?
Can't believe the Wild Score 8 last night. When was the last time they did that?

Look at SoMn’s avatar.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/20/2019 10:53:19 AM)

No matter what happens the rest of the year....Donato, Fiala, Ek, and Kunin have to get equal ice time to the vets....they all can shoot.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/22/2019 6:47:50 AM)

The Wild don't seem to play well during the daytime. Isn't that what you all see?

I have noticed the same thing so far this season. Not good at all playing matinee sessions. They were controlling the play and looking pretty good the first period, but couldn't get one past Hellebuyck. Then they scored first and I knew we were done for. Luckily, I had things to do and could only watch the first period. I wasn't surprised to see we lost, but a 6-0 whipping I wasn't expecting.

No real leaders [sm=whistling.gif]

Been my same song for about 10 years now.

Who's been our "leader" over the years? The guy that you don't want to piss off as a teammate because it's the end of your time with the franchise:

Gaborik, no way
Rollston, nope
Mikko, give a break
Zach and Suter, same

This team has always been built around the nice guy in charge, Mikko. I thought we had a chance to turn that corner when we hired Stevens as a coach. He bailed after 1 year. I really thought he would change the tune of how we played (and recruited). I've still never read a feasible reason why he left. TC's reporters said he wanted to spend more time with his family.

Hard to believe a guy that has spent his life on the road, married a woman that would accept that, had kids and still lived it for years…..had that epiphany after 1 year in MN.

We will continue to lack "that guy" until we get that guy. We all hate em' when we play but you know who they are. You think locker rooms are going "shit, we got Mikko tonight, buckle it up boys"?

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/22/2019 10:46:45 PM)

It's like the signature I used about a year ago; when they say your leader leads by example, it's a polite way of saying he doesn't lead.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/23/2019 6:40:21 PM)

Wild finally win a matinee beating the Flames 3-0. Now if the Vikings can take care of the Packers on Monday night football it will be a good day in Minnesota.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/24/2019 7:19:43 AM)

Damn good bounce back game.
Loved a lot of things I saw in this one.
Someone probably should have jacked up Tchachuk, but other than that, it was damn fun.
Even Dubnyk was on.
Kunin showed the promise everyone tells me he has. Guy was all over them. Every shift.
And it was pretty evident how much Ek is needed. Really solidifies that line.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/24/2019 7:58:45 AM)

Game notes
Minnesota is now 8-3-1 against the Western Conference’s Pacific division. … The Wild have 28 points since Nov. 14, tops in the NHL. … Staal has 12 points in his last 10 games.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/24/2019 8:01:08 AM)

Sturm looked really good out there yesterday...Let the young guys take over.

We still need a #1 center, but with Ek and Sturm I think we have solid 2 and 3 centers of the future already.
I read Strum got send back down to Iowa yesterday for the break, but if Mikko isn't 100% I would hope they bring him back up for more playing time up here.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/27/2019 7:58:02 PM)

2-2 after 1. First was not on Dubnyk, that was all on JEE. 2nd though….he didn't cover exactly cover himself in glory [>:] Brodin and Soucy got their damn jocks handed to them (play the body stupid. you learn to follow the chest at age 4 and not the puck….) but a simple poke by Dubnyk stops that. He tried to be Jeter for cripes sake [:-]

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/27/2019 8:28:07 PM)

And a totally unneeded lazy ass line change by Faligno takes one off the board. Just stupid.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/27/2019 8:32:58 PM)

Greenway with an incredible screen on the PP and we are back on top.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/27/2019 8:53:03 PM)

Holy shit. Nathan "Messi" Mckinnon just tied it at 3 with the most blatant kicked in goal you will see. How that was 'legal' is only explained by the term BETTMAN [X(]

It's totally ok to change the angle of your skate to redirect the puck in the net. That's not a kicking motion nowadays. Interesting [&o]

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/27/2019 9:45:44 PM)

Damn fun game tonight and it looks like we are going to sneak out with the win. When we get the good Duby and we are playing solid D we can play with anybody still.
6-4 win at Colorado before we come home for a bunch of games is a perfect way to start out the new year.

That was the kind of goal only Canadian born star players get.......the NHWWE is alive and well. LOL

Yeap. I didn't see their 4th but the other 3 were not Dubnyk's fault (even though he could have done better on the 2nd). TBH though, we had 2 that they let in that I would have been screaming at the TV over. Nice win, a bit lucky….move on to better things.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/27/2019 9:50:03 PM)

And, to add to previous game comments by you guys. If 9 goes back to #1 center BB is an idiot. JEE is already a much better player.

Yup, if anything he comes back and Sturm goes back down to make room for him. No sense messing with the other lines that are playing good together right now.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/27/2019 9:56:39 PM)

As for Zucker when he comes back......
I think his time as a Wild is limited. Maybe package him with Brodin and get the #1 center we have needed for years.

Lynn G. -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/27/2019 10:20:53 PM)

Yep - that goal was TOTALLY kicked in. Thank goodness it didn't result in an Avalanche win.

Love how the fans were yelling that the refs sucked - but they sure were happy that the refs called that one a goal.

kevinemmer -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/28/2019 12:28:10 PM)

That off-sides on Suter ruled without clear visual evidence of puck as well.
(That we were allowed to see)
Goal by Eek disallowed.
🤨

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (12/29/2019 4:36:33 PM)

Most points since Nov 14
Most goals since Nov 11

We all knew that’s our strength
