The Toronto Maple Leafs are struggling of late and continue to work the phones trying to find upgrades to their defence and back up goaltender. With the latest reports of Matt Dumba being available from the Minnesota Wild, the two teams could be the match made in heaven the Leafs are looking for.

According to sources the teams have had dialogue around the defenceman, with the Maple Leafs offering the Wild defensive prospect, Timothy Liljegren, forward Andreas Johnsson and defenseman, Cody Ceci. GM, Bill Guerin is believed to be interested in moving Dumba to the east coast.

The Wild are expected to move Dumba to free up some cap space moving forward, as the team is strapped with players on huge contracts, with no-move clauses. Dumba does not have any trade protection.

Look for both teams to be active as we approach the trade deadline and Leafs Nation is pouring out it's hope for a Dumba acquisition, sooner than later.

The would be so freaken awesome!!! I would settle for the proverbial bag of pucks. Just get his worthless ass and bloated salary of the payroll.

We're just shuffling chairs if we continue to be riddled with NTC guys. Move 2 or 3 of them at all costs.

Kap is almost a point per guy so I would down for that trade. Doubt it happens though.

Can tell Leafs fans just want SOMETHING to happen
Some of their comments are hilariously wrong
They think Dumba is something we know he is not.

He's an elite talent, as Jeff says, anytime you talk a point a game, my ears perk up.

That system, and those superstars, made Pascal Dupuis a star.
And every other guy who joins them
They plug in guys with ability, and they produce.
I do not like them, but any good player would be an IDIOT to not want to play in that system.

I would imagine he wouldn't mind that at all. And Guerin knows their players well since he just left there. Maybe he can work a good deal for some young talent....

One good thing from the All Star game ..
It appears Hellbuyck is becoming DoobieNick the Second.
He's a mess at this point.
Had worried he was "thee" goalie moving forward at one time, that appears derailed, thankfully.
(hey, if we can't figure it out, at least we can hope no one else close to us does, either)

Is this guy likely to be a STAR or just an OK player?

Kirill Kaprizov was the unanimous choice among KHLers as the next big star to come to North America.
Kaprizov was chosen by the other six of the players in the survey. He leads the league with 23 goals and he has provided CSKA Moscow with 46 points in 45 games. Kaprizov could be a member of the Minnesota Wild as soon as next season.

It's been so long since we had a legit star. Modano and Burns are the most recent I can remember and they were North Stars not Wild.

Burns was a Wild player and was traded for Coyle and Setoguchi before he ever became the star he is now.
But I agree that it has been ages since we have had a legit star. To me, it's actually fair to say that Gaborik is the closest the Wild have come to having a star player.

Yup, Gabby and maybe captain slapshot aka “Rolston”. Gaborik was for sure. He even had his own stalker mom and kids that plunked down some serious cash for him year after year.
