So we're sitting in the bar watching with no sound. Table of ten people asking me what's wrong with us. I say "watch when we reach their blue line. Watch what we do with the puck". "Watch when THEY reach the blue line. Watch what they do with the puck". It's night and day. They get three feet in the zone the puck goes to the net. You tell me what works.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/3/2019 9:35:38 PM)

Zucker sucks.

Parise Staal and Koivu. DONE.

So tired of having a team that does what it’s supposed to do.
Bend over and take it
Gutless.
Script said Preds win.
Preds win.
Stand up for gods sake.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/3/2019 9:55:46 PM)

Duchene adds to a roster full of snobs in Nashville.
Preds are full of guys who’ve won nothing and strut like they’ve won ten.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/4/2019 6:57:03 AM)

I only saw the end of the 2nd period and the first half of the 3rd and that was all I needed to see.
The old, "so-called core" guys are just that.........old! slow! done!
The younger guys are younger guys still learning their way.
As a team we are slow, slow, slow....2 steps behind and chasing the puck makes for a real long game.
Duby is Duby.........nuff said.
Going to be a long season guys.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/4/2019 7:09:48 AM)

Wow, sorry I missed it.

bstinger -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/4/2019 7:44:55 AM)

I had no reason for optimism for this team before preseason. Haven't watched a second of it, but just reading the comments here confirm that I won't be spending much time on Wild broadcasts this year.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/4/2019 8:22:17 AM)

and ... stfrank saw only the good part!

Truthfully, that was the only time we mustered anything.

At one point shot "attempts" stood at something like 46-9
That's not competing.
BB railed them at the end of the second, and for five minutes, we were all over them.
Then that passed, because, ya know, we were supposed to lose, so ……

We get our first sustained pressure all night, its moving well in the zone, we're not shooting tho (of course) .. then it goes up to Koivu, who is standing at the blue line like some sort of 3rd Dman statue. He fumbles with it, and has to come out of the zone. Game over.
Right before that, D springs Zucker on a clear breakaway. Stoned. Same flurry, Zucker left alone in front, holds puck holds puck holds puck, skates to a bad angle and flips a weak backhander. Stoned. Game really over.

You're all right.
Nothing new.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/4/2019 9:04:55 AM)

I can honestly say, that I will make very little effort to watch Wild games this year. This organization is like gyroscope of mediocrity. Like a gyroscope, it is self sustaining, year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after f***ing year.

So classic!

I had to chuckle at the image while throwing up in my mouth...

Good news is, the sheep can all blame Zuccarello, just like they blamed Vanek.
For playing a different game than the rest of us.
Ya know, that stupid "NHL type" game the rest of us don't do. [X(]
Passes that a Vanek or a Zuccarello make, don't work here. Hmmmm. Hint - they're not the problem, but they will get the blame.

The veil is off Parise for me.
I have had a seething fire building up on this guy
The Mauer comparison gets more real every day.
If not for his pedigree, would Parise be any more than an Iowa farmhand right now? I say hell no.
You were a little warrior at times in your career, Wheee. Right now, you are dead weight.

In retrospect, the Parise and Suter signings were the worst thing that ever happened to this team. It made them just good enough that they would never be within reach of the elite prospects. It chewed up cap space, so that the Wild could never afford to offer that kind of money to players who were actually worth it. And finally they put us in position to where there is no getting out from under that cap hit for 5 more years.

The only hope this team has is to have that glorious sleeper pick fall to them and not miss on the opportunity to take him.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/4/2019 10:55:31 AM)

Their biggest hope right now is skating in Russia. They also should figure out a way to play Mayhew and Sturm up here if the forwards we have don't want to shoot.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/4/2019 11:04:22 AM)

Go Gophers! Or Bulldogs! Or Huskies! Or Mavericks! Or Beavers!
The only hope we have of seeing good hockey this season. [:D]

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/4/2019 11:06:21 AM)

Great point
Just leaves more time to put more effort into our local interests.

It remains to be seen just how well Kaprizov's game translates to the NHL. We were led to believe, several years ago, that Granlund was going to be this creative offensive force in the NHL.

The other thing is that we don't know that he will actually be here for 2020. Russia has a knack for making its stars stay home in recent years. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he winds up signing another extension in Russia.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/4/2019 11:19:48 AM)

The Granlund fairy dust was all over last night
one goal disallowed, in on almost all the other chances they had, he was motivated.
Keep it up all year and I'll be impressed
Last night was one of those nights he looked like that talent we all hoped he was. [X(]

Not to confused with the nights that Charlie Coyle looked like the talent we thought he was ... or Jason Zucker looked like the talent we thought he was .... or Nino ... you get my drift?

Lynn G. -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/4/2019 2:51:48 PM)

I'm just as battered and bruised as everyone else here, but can we just step back and remember that last night's game was just the first game of the season?

(Said by the person who has basically accepted every season of every sport she follows as just another opportunity to receive a swift kick in the face).

GO TWINS!!!!

Overcome your kryptonite!!

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/4/2019 4:56:35 PM)

Go Wild. I have not given up on you.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/5/2019 9:05:54 AM)

New lines after the first game where the over 30 line was terrible.
Swap Parise and Donato.....Zucker and Fiala still have the boat anchor between them. If it were me I'd put Koivu down a notch and move up Kunin.

Donato-Staal-Zuccarello
Zucker-Koivu-Fiala
Parise-Kunin-Greenway
Foligno-Eriksson Ek-Hartman

Could be interesting today with all the speed the Avs have.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/5/2019 10:24:33 AM)

The problem is that I can't see one pair of wingers who deserve to be saddled with Koivu.

I'm not as good a judge of talent as my buddy SoMn, but I think that Kaprizov is going to be a good one. He'll need a good linemate to pass to and to crash the line with, but he will be good.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (10/6/2019 9:56:23 AM)

I didn't watch any last night, but it sounds like the usual....can't seem to score more than 2 goals so we lose 4-2.
Hard to win in the NHL when you're only able to score 2 goals per game.
Note to Billy Guerin---the Wild badly need some guys that can put the puck in the net!
