Cousins has had a pretty good year. Had a couple BAD games, but overall has been very consistent. I'd like to see him play better outdoors though.

Hey, the roof was open. What do you want. [;)]

On that catch by Rudy, I thought Capt Kirk was throwing it away!

Earning that paycheck yesterday. [;)]

Finally using him where he can make a difference.

Rudy without a doubt is a red zone target. Always has been the best part of his game. I've been begging for a long time for the Vikes to play to his strengths. His size and soft hands certainly were the difference against the Cowboys. He also appears to be blocking very well in the running game.

The nice things about the throw (besides the obvious being caught for a TD) are that Cousins threw it before Rudy even made his break and the threw it to the spot where Rudy was the only guy who had a chance to get it. He nailed it. Anticipation, location and touch. That's not easy to do in the end zone chaos that comes from being in the red zone.

Heck of a throw. Prescott was doing the same thing on those sideline throws to Cooper. A couple were out of bounds were they couldn't be defensed.

Cousins had three very good seasons on the worst outdoor field in the NFL (Washington). He lit up GB and LA last year (just off the top of my head). I don't think the struggles on the road on grass solely on Cousins. We stink as a team.

beo -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 12:23:56 PM)

I was disappointed in the secondary like everyone else... but it should be noted that Dallas is the number one offense in yards right now (I b elieve)... they were going to be able to move the ball.

Pager -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 12:25:08 PM)

Broadcast team talked about it last night, but I was very impressed with the ingame adjustment to have Ham help secure the corner on those pitchouts to Cook.

Guest -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 12:41:52 PM)

Holy smokes we needed a win like that.

I gotta say perhaps my favorite Viking Chuck Foreman was spot on when he proclaimed this the deepest RB group the Viking organization has ever had.

Cook and Mattison are so dynamic it’s simply amazing watching them develop their own version of lightning and thunder. People who have not watched much Viking football are totally caught off guard how good not only Cook is, but the sledgehammer style of Mattison.

Forget our QB’s struggles in prime time, the Vikes have sucked for years under the bright lights. Good to see a cohesive effort.

Cousins made no mistakes, and protected the ball which was huge in spite of not having one of his high velocity games.

Thielen is missed, get back after the bye.

I thought the OLine battled, and gave us a chance to win until the last drive where they began to collapse.

Sometimes opposing teams make plays. Look how many incredible sideline plays Prescott and Cooper made.

Those were some pretty tight windows Dak was throwing into. I give the Cowboys credit, as they played really well offensively.

We still need the secondary to play better.

Thought Jaleel Johnson, and the other DT’s filled in well. That big D OLine did not push them around by any means. (Very promising)

Phil, that link wasn't really what I was trying to do, I wanted to upload a file/jpg, then embed it in the post. So I clicked on the 'Click here to upload!' link, successfully uploaded the file (according to the Upload File dialogue window). But the uploaded file is nowhere to be found. As best as I can tell.

The BOTH might be lightning AND thunder.

It's kind of shocking how often Mattison looks like Cook when he's running.

Preachin to the choir here Pager. I have been saying Cousins gets way too much blame for his record against winning teams, on the road, blah blah blah. That argument always omits the fact that most of those games were playing for a crappy team, run by the crappiest organization in football, playing in the worst stadium in football.

Lars -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 1:27:59 PM)

It's hilarious...

If you listen to any of the national sports shows you would think DAL won. Raving about how awesome Dak is, he made all of these plays...

Except for the fact that they lost. At home. To this other team they don't wanna talk about. Yeah, Dak had to do it all because we took Zeke away. That was the gameplan: Make Dak beat you. And he played a great game, made a number of great throws and his WR made some tough catches.

If we would have chosen to attack Dak more, it ould have left our defense vulnerable to traps, draws, screens, etc. that would have let Zeke get untracked. And who knows...maybe it works, maybe it doesn't.

We had a plan. It worked. We won. And that was a tough loss for DAL.

Anyhow, I think they are all idiots. None of them picked us to win last night.

Oh well, on to then next one! Focus up and get ready for DEN at home!

SKOL!

I was really getting sick of the Dak Prescott marketing blitz last night. Oooooooooooooooooooooo look at the way Dak practices his hip thrusts.

Rob Viking -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 1:44:22 PM)

I would think most QBs not named Brady have a losing record vs winning teams. Not to mention the fact the Skins were a .500 team with him (2015-2017) starting and are 40-81 from 2009-2019 excluding those 3 season Kirk was a starter.

Dak looks like he was ready for the next Bollywood musical with those hip thrusts. It's the narrative NBC always go with during Cowboy games. He did play great but he also missed low on some wide open receivers where the rush was able to do just enough.

On that TD pass to Rudolph with the 1 handed catch, the actual pass from Cousins may well be the most outstanding facet of that play.

It's much easier to just pile on, be one of the huddling masses blissfully ignorant of reality, kind of like the Salem Witch trials, or any one of hundreds of historical events where the sheeple are led on by the figurative "Cousins sucks" mantra.

The tape might say otherwise but it seemed like last night was his best game this year especially considering the line he played against.

Apparently the two that struggled the most early in the season did the best for this game. If the trend continues then you would have to say that patience was indeed what was needed.

Nice bounce back after he and Bradbury got their asses handed to them last week.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 2:55:49 PM)

The key that not many talk about is even on a poor day in KC and Cook being less effective, Thielen out, and Diggs literally shut down....We lost on a FG in regulation. Kirk on a bad day still gives us a shot.

Our worst game this year was were we lost by 10 at Chicago......We are in every game. I don't know if you remember the days when we didn't have a qb that could keep us in a game......No Thielen, Cook ineffective, and Diggs shutout but that is on Kirk when he is the one that kept us in the game?

Many of you better be careful what you wish for in regards to Spielman, Zimmer, and Cousins. I don't think you remember being blown out against good teams instead of losing on a coin flip.

You can't absolve Cousins last week. He flat out missed a lot of open throws. He gets way too much blame when we lose, but he was just plain not good last week.
