Rob Viking -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/3/2019 12:42:05 PM)

We were all hopeful we'd have a different outcome yesterday. I thought this was a must win if we had any chance to contend for the SB. Can't see it anymore, this defense absolutely needs home field to succeed, without the crowd noise and the jump on the track we can never get control of the game defensively.

Unfortunately when you go all in, you get 1 year rentals like Richardson who performed well last season, but his absence caused misevaluation at DT and at the same time prevented others from gaining valuable experience.

i dont think the coaches put them in a great position to succeed in those last two plays

yes, the players need to execute, but we dont have Tom Brady, lets try to put him in a spot to succeed, i think they failed

nobody is perfect, but just seems like ANOTHER spot the we failed on the coaching side

Absolutely agree, Im sure most noticed for maybe first time during a loss on Game Day thread and here after I was not critical of Kirk.

I put this loss squarely on the coaching and HC, with an extra week to prepare his favorite unit the D was hot garbage, there were some blueprints of how teams attacked and limited Wilson and caused Seattle coaches into bad decisions/ playcalling on O, we obviously didnt look at that tape or feel we could execute those type of schemes. Our D coaching mindset is very troubling at times with late or non existant in game adjustments. I hate watching us just keep leaking as the crack in the dam widens throught the game. That is all coaching.

Seattle is 9-2...there is not much of a playbook on how to win....especially on Monday night in Seattle

you just have to play your best game, from coaches down to special teams

we did not do that

IMO

As bad as Rhodes was it was probably the run D that lost us the game. Consistent 8 yarders on 1st down it seemed like.

The DLine sucked but it hurts when you have to have Harry babysit Rhodes every play and not help in run support.

When they are bringing in a 6th lineman you can't have a LB like Wilson on the field... he just doesn't have the size.
Poor coaching.
You can't play your safties deep.
Poor coaching.

Yeah, SEA is probably baiting you for a play action pass but when you refuse to adjust they just kill you with runs all night.

Barr isn't great at shedding blocks either... when the DLINE is getting pushed around things go south quick.
No adjustment.
Poor coaching.

are we playing a lot more zone coverage this season?...for some reason i'm noticing it much much more than ever before in the zimmer era...could this be part of the problem?....

i'm disappointed that stephens isn't helping our run stuffing more than he is...can't win giving up 6-8 yard runs every first down....

put hill/hughes in for rhodes and the defense gets considerably better...cut rhodes and sign tramaine brock for the rest of the season....

5. KIRK COUSINS, MINNESOTA VIKINGS

After a slow start to the season that saw Cousins ranking dead last in PFF grades after two weeks (31.0 overall grade), Cousins has been fantastic, leading the way with a 92.1 overall grade. He’s taken to the new system that is getting him out of the pocket on designed bootlegs, and his 618 yards outside the pocket are second only to Wilson. Cousins also ranks second in overall adjusted completion percentage at 81.8%. He’s on pace to post the highest PFF grade of his career.

Carolina fired their coach. Seems kind of pointless, Norv Turner will finish the year.

Maybe a tryout for Norv?

According to PFF Rhodes is up to allowing completions on over 85% of targets. That's almost impossible! Or maybe the better word would be improbable. Waynes is also awful allowing 70%. Maybe the corners can't hear what the cornerback whisperer is saying or more likely Zimmer isn't this great cb guru everyone thinks he is.

I'd start Wasswa Serwanga over Rhodes. Rhodes is now merely a throwback to the years our CBs were crap.

At the time he resigned, it was a must signing. Maybe overpaid in the grand scheme but he was very good.

It seems like they shortened parts of his thigh muscles and now he can't run, let alone (gasp) make a cut. What is practice like with him vs Diggs? Must be a laugh, in a sad way.

He does seem pretty straight legged and kind of like the tin man. I seriously wonder if he starts this week.

CPAMAN -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/3/2019 8:54:41 PM)

Glad I missed yesterday's game. In fact, I forgot it was on. But who on here didn't see a loss at Seattle. I get to miss the next three games as well while in Australia and New Zealand. Season could be over by then or a must win game to get into a lowest seed WC game and another first round exit.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/3/2019 9:01:42 PM)

Why would anyone ever be glad to miss a game? Win, lose, or tie the game is exciting and fun to watch. I hear that a lot where people say 'It got so bad I turned the channel!' and they say that with such zeal. Really? You think there's something better than football? You only want to watch when we win? Weird...

This season Rhodes has allowed a passer rating when targeted of 132.6 this season - by far the worst of his career. After 12 games, he also has committed 10 penalties, and is on pace for a career season worst on that score as well.

His coverage performance against Seattle represents his nadir - allowing a perfect 158.3 passer rating when targeted, including a long touchdown pass in blown coverage. He also committed a stupid personal foul - which also led to a Seahawks touchdown.

I am stunned by how bad X is. 132.6 & 10 penalties????

Stunning that he remains a starter. Not exactly the blueprint for a championship team.

Unbelievable...clean up a few things?

Zim has officially lost it. Rhodes is a complete liability out there. We have other cb's that are better.

Is Zimmer that delusional?

Or just giving the Press his standard "f-off" schtick.

You know .... clean up a few things ... like running faster .... successfully jamming the receiver occasionally .... not getting faked out of his jock .... not holding onto to jerseys for dear life because he forgot to move his feet .... not negating a rare good play with a stupid penalty ..... and a bunch of other stuff

It really seems to me that his play started declining when he got paid, maybe his wallet is weighing him down?

I asked Xavier Rhodes why he is no longer the same caliber of player from when he was all pro and he said he does not know but is confident he can flip a switch and be better

I know I can simply flip a switch now at 62 and be as active as I was at 30. Works all the time.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/4/2019 2:25:01 PM)

Idk. We know there is a cliff rb's fall off at Rhodes age but I never heard of cb's doing a nose dive at age 29

I can appreciate Zim backing up his players but he isn't fooling anyone saying Rhodes only has to clean up a few things. I think in this situation I'd rather hear Zim call a spade a spade.

Gotta be in his head.

Once you start getting beat as a CB I’ve rarely seen one turn it back around.

He can put on all the false bravado he wants, but when he’s lost that edge, he’s lost that competitive edge.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (12/4/2019 5:34:05 PM)

Reading between the lines I summize he has some personal stuff going on and as Kurt just mentioned in the above post is that his head isn't right.
