What a good article written up by Rudolph.

The guy has been such a good player/teammate/man the downright disrespect he's received from some fans is quite frankly embarrassing. Just because he wasn't as good as some of the most elite TE's in the game. Some of you squawked loudly and often too. SMH.

That's a must-read Todd, thanks for the link!

I don't recall anyone questioning his character. Debating his NFL skill set is fair game. Ex post, he's had a very good year.

Certainly Rudy has left it all out on the field this year. His pass catching numbers don't reflect it but his effort in YAC and blocking do. Plus when he was not getting targeted early in the season when Zim was going run heavy, he didn't complain like a couple other guys.

However, in the past he didn't give this type of effort. So some of the disrespect was warranted.

Great stuff
Good to hear it from the inside
I do lots of assuming, turns out most of it's wrong.
I loved the "we're getting SIX" part of it the most.
Apparently they DO hate settling for FGs as much as we fans do.

Very cool article.

Or actually, maybe people did know, but they just didn’t talk about it much — which is exactly how I wanted it. I wanted it to be real low-key, because I knew my decision was going to be real low-key. The idea of exploring free agency was definitely interesting to me, and maybe even appealing. It’s something that I think every professional athlete dreams about, to a certain extent: having other teams in your league pitch you, and recruit you, and sell you on this idea that you’re the missing piece of their puzzle.

But at the end of the day, I decided to forgo my free agency.

And that’s because, as tempting as it might have been to field a bunch of offers from some other teams this summer….. I knew that ultimately those offers would all have one fatal flaw: They’d be offers to leave.

His agent didn't have the heart to tell him how low the offers were going to be.

Every post I've ever made regarding his lack of toughness, inability/unwillingness to dodge/break a tackle, incredible lack of speed and the fact that my 13-year-old daughter could tackle him in the open field notwithstanding - he played three really good games for us in the regular season and had an INCREDIBLE game last weekend vs. the Saints. My opinion on him remains unchanged. Either the good games this season and playoff game were a fluke or he's been holding back his effort his entire career.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/10/2020 9:34:12 AM)

P.S. - If it had been Stefon Diggs spotted front row at the Timberwolves game yesterday it would have been an outrage. "Don't you have a game to prepare for?!?!?" But since it was Rudolph it was just great to see him out supporting a fellow MN franchise. The double-standards continue to be mind-blowing.

SoMnFan -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/10/2020 10:35:14 AM)

Gotta admit, when Rudy caught the ball in the first half, turned, made a move, and ran thru a couple defenders for about 10-12 yards on a big conversion ….
It felt like he had just doubled his career total in YAC
It was shocking, and kinda made ya wonder why we don't see it more. [:D]

I reject that. I don't believe their would have been any backlash over Diggs attending a Timberwolves game during his down time.

Has there been a game That Stefon Diggs was spotted there and it was controversial?

Seems like an invented controversy here.

With an away playoff game two days away? There aren't any comparisons to be found because the situation is so unique. This can't be brushed off with a simple 'never heard of any other players doing it' because in reality there have been so few scenarios where this was even a possibility.

You still holding on to the ridiculous narrative about Rudy. Based on his age and production the offers would not have been low at all. He has always been a good player for the Vikings.

Hard disagree.

Are players supposed to sequester themselves in their homes the week leading up to the Playoffs?

OMG. He was out for OVER 2 HOURS on a school night...

Would you be as upset if Diggs went out to dinner? It would probably occur over roughly the same time period as the game.

If he would've been seen at a strip club at 3am, maybe we can talk...

Richard Neussendorfer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/10/2020 1:11:04 PM)

I wouldn't be upset over any players attending local games as long as they weren't making an ass of themselves but that's just me. If we lose this week I'm not blaming it on how Rudy used some of his free time.

No. Players' free time is their own free time. I'm saying it would have been met with a much different reaction had it been Stefon "Shut up and play" Diggs.

Now you're just coming off as someone with an agenda. It would've been met with the exact same reaction.

Hell, our OC had enough free time to interview with the Browns yesterday so maybe the team made it through all the tape they wanted to see. Gameplan done early on a short week. Easy Peasy.

We're talking about kicking back at a Wolves game after practicing earlier in the day. He wasn't out drinking at a club and after party until sunrise. Assuming he stayed for the whole game, he could have home before 10:30. I can't imagine anyone taking issue with that, whether it's Rudolph or Diggs. You're really manufacturing a double standard where none exists.
