Cousins shits his pants when he has a guy in his face. Should have threw that ball away.

Stefanski should have kept running the ball. We had 1st and goal at the 8.

What was with all the tacky offensive PI calls?

Not any worse than we usually see at Lameblow.

This loss is squarely at the feet of Cousins.

He's a shitty QB

A bad thing is his terrible play with nullify any talk of the home cooking GB was getting from the officials on the field and in NY.

And rightfully so....

To get jobbed by the NFL refs is one thing...

TO GET JOBBED BY YOUR OWN QB pretty much seals the deal...

nothing else matters at that point, nothing for any part of team to rally around, its done, stick a fork in this one and move on?

END OF DISCUSSION

I still can't believe it.

Our RBs weren't even getting touched until 3-4 yards downfield and then it was weak arm tackles. I get trying to surprise a defense but there was no need.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/15/2019 3:52:25 PM)

Cousins pocket awareness even looks worse than last season if that's possible.

He simply can't maneuver in the pocket. Looks clumsy and can't take care of the football.

A game manager qb wins us this game. The 84ml qb lost it.

All I can come up w/ is that he's pressing because of that contract and trying to justify it.

Cousins has the YIPS in a system without a stellar OL and play calling OC to manage him...

No excuses, he isnt a good fit for this team...

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/15/2019 3:58:45 PM)

Tough game to watch. I recorded it, but only watched parts. I may have to go back. I don't know. We lost. From what I did see Cook was sensational and we should have won a game where he played that well. I'm going to agree with those who put the loss on Cousins. Too many turnovers and I was wondering sometimes why he was throwing the ball 40 yards on third and five. It's great if it worked, but we were running the ball well so I would have preferred he tried just to go for a first down. Too many penalties and some of them were by the rookie center. Shoot. That's not what I want to see, but hopefully he will learn quickly what he can get away with in the NFL.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/15/2019 4:02:43 PM)

That drive with under 10 min mark we were running the ball down their throat.

Stefanski got cute and Kirk throws in to coverage. That was such a bone headed play.

He will probably light Oakland up for 350 and 4.

And then wilt in Chicago.

Pretty much his pattern throughout his career.

Dave Odle -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/15/2019 4:07:38 PM)

Pretty much. He'll beat up on some crappy team and be declared "back."

Then play a winning team and revert right back again.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/15/2019 4:09:42 PM)

Seemed like when ever we rolled him out there was a back side defender there. Most qb's can side step or juke the guy but Cousins chooses to fill his diaper.

There's probably a reason why he sucks so badly against decent teams. It's probably because he isn't near as good as the QB across from him in those games

Ragnarök -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/15/2019 4:18:05 PM)

All the speak of play roll outs and emulating the great Fran in the off season was fodder, pipe dream, waste of reps for real plays...
Kirk has no presence and no business leaving a fully protected pocket where he can stare down his main target and dump it off or chuck up a wing and a prayer that is either boom or bust play...

Thats his game... its an 50/50 thing...

wonder why he is an 8/8 season QB... its his game...

I think I agree with you completely on this, which is unfortunate. [;)]

Which "fully protected pocket" are you referring to?

odin -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/15/2019 4:43:58 PM)

Krauser
‏ @Krauserrific

Vikings put up 7.0 yards per play and allowed 4.9 yards per play, but lost.

There have only been 13 games in the last 10 years in the NFL with the losing team >7 YPP and winning team <5 YPP.

Kirk Cousins has been the losing QB in 3 such games since 2013.

Kryptonite.

OUCH!!!!

bohumm -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/15/2019 4:58:26 PM)

Kirk is our QB. Sloter isn't coming back, Mannion is lacking, and Browning is a long shot. Our only hope is that Kirk is somehow chastened by this game; I'm supportive and hopeful, but now skeptical. If he could do better, wouldn't he have by now????

The one we dont have, but which Kirk did have at times in Washington to benefit his stats and make look like an QB worth mortgaging our future on to WIN NOW...

Such is life... He will put bup some great numbers in the next two years and give some elite looks in given games, but does he have what it takes to take us to next level and win NFCCG?

Yeah, I had hopes Cousins could pull a Flacco/Manning and just be good enough... but at some point you need to just start believing the guy is what he has shown you he his...

He'll beat up bad teams.
He'll fold to good teams.

Good QBs, hell mediocre QBs don't throw away the game on 1st and goal to go ahead LATE IN THE 4th... terrible.

Exactly right. I think what we've seen is what he is. There isn't going to be a great change. Our only hope is the D plays lights out and the running game keeps shining on unfortunately. We are going to have to play boring ball and hope it's enough because Kirk doesn't have the it factor at all. He's just happy to be there.

That was about as bad a play as you'll ever see even at the college level.

Unfortunately, we are forever trapped in being good enough to miss out on franchise qb draft position... and can't seem to unearth a gem... and some of us would argue that we just ran a potential gem out of town... no joy in mudville

Well if we miss the playoffs then Zimmer and Spielman will probably be gone. We have a ton of talent and that would be inexcusable. The one good thing that would come out of that is maybe we wouldn't continue to throw out promising "prospects" going forward. I just don't for the life of me understand why he isn't at least the backup. Mannion is a nobody and always will be.
