I don't think the Vikings are considering Jordan Love, but I bet the Patriots are. It's not a slam dunk that they are, but they do need a new franchise quarterback. Love is not the same kind of quarterback as Brady, but Bilichick is the kind of coach who can adapt to what he has. That's what I think. My question is whether the Saints are also interested in Love. Drew Brees is 41 and will be 42 if they make the playoffs. They do not have Teddy Bridgewater anymore as the backup. They have Taysom Hill, but do they see him as the next franchise QB? Love could be a QB that could be groomed for one season with the hopes that he could take over in a year.

When drafting you always have to worry about your backside and whether they will snipe you or not. So, in fact if the Saints covet Love, one option is for them to trade with us on draft day and select Love ahead of the Patriots. That could yield us a fourth rounder. If the Patriots are worried about that, they could trade up with us and yield a fifth rounder, or even overpay a bit with a fourth rounder. It's a quarterback and they have a lot of draft picks.

Miami is behind them both. If they did not get Tua and selected some other player earlier in the round then they would be hot to trot on Love, wouldn't they? They might be willing to trade picks with us in the third round to move up plus offer a lower round pick or two. If you look at the trade value chart, the value of draft picks really drop off a lot between the early third round and the late third round. In the early part of the round there will still be some notable names who have slid and whom we have been talking about, but by the end of the round there will be names whom we have to scramble and look up to see who they heck they are. Of course that earlier third rounder would be a much more valuable chip in trying to move up in the second round which I am hoping the Vikings do.

I don't know if the Vikings would do that. They would have to consider it. They would then have picks #25 and #26. They would know that #22 would be Love, so just there would be two more picks before they get to select their two first rounders. Depending on who is left on the board that might work. It really depends though, doesn't it. It's hard to project trades, but often when it happens with our team, we trade back just a few picks calculating that there would be enough satisfactory options for us selecting later. Then we can acquire extra capital and perhaps save on the salary cap, as well.

I heard on Sirius football channel that the phins are considering moving up to the first pick to take burrow. I know that those guys are looking for things to talk about because not much is going on right now, but that was one of their rumors yesterday. That would cost them a ton on draft day.

If Love falls to us in the draft and there is a bidding war we will do better than the trade value chart says. We would get at least a third round pick.

That makes sense, too. Teams for the most part only do that only for a quarterback.

Miami has 3 1st rounders and 14 total picks....they could do it and still have a very good draft. Trader Rick needs to get some of their picks.

Draft magazines are hit and miss but Lindy's has him a 5th round prospect. History of injuries are the main problem.

I'd take him in the 4th or 5th.

Muti isn't going to anybody before the third round and could fall to the 5th where Lindy's has him. He also might not be a good fit for zone blocking. He's a mauler, but not a mover.

He actually moves pretty well, kg. It's his history of injuries (including an Achilles) that is going to hurt his placement. I like him a lot, otherwise.

Dana Turner -> RE: NFL Draft 2020 (4/1/2020 6:07:06 PM)

If we get an additional 5th in a trade down scenario, Muti would be a guy to take a flyer on, but he sat more than he played and he needs to show he can stay on the field against the big boys. I really like him and I'd love to see him on a late round pick coming to the Purple and Gold, but you must take a guy like Simpson, Jones or Ruiz with an early pick if you are going to help immediately! Probably the toughest dude in the draft though, you are right about that.

How could he not? He's a Biadasz.

Dana Turner -> RE: NFL Draft 2020 (4/1/2020 6:43:30 PM)

I like Biadasz. He's the typical Wisconsin solid offensive line guy. He's a guy that comes to work each day and gives steady effort. He reminds me of the kind of guy the Patriots end up with and in a few years gets a big contract somewhere.

See, the deal is, you simply must have a few guys on the OL that are on rookie deals. These would be 2-4 rounders that start early and then leave for big contracts later. Sure, you might keep one or two depending on pay structure, but Dallas showed us a couple years back, you simply can't pay five guys top dollar.

So you grab Biadasz in the third round, a guy I think will be able to start day one and plug him in at guard and go. Then get in a rotation of grabbing a good guard every two years, center every three years and pay your money to the tackles. Just my take!

I was interested, but then he is like Rhodes in that he has lost it. Indeed, he is older than Rhodes by a few months.
