IMO great pick. Damien Williams ain't shit. Their offense is going to be even better.

We didn't quite get the trade chart value with our trade down, but I don't believe they were coveting the players taken in between 25 and 31.

I believe that none of us would have bat an eye if we had traded up a couple of spots for Jefferson from #22 or had taken Gladney at #25. So instead of giving up draft pick capital we gained some.

yep no guts no glory. We saw the board and made the trade down for under chart value, but it seems to worked out excellently.

No. 22 overall: The Vikings select WR Justin Jefferson, LSU

I love this pick for Minnesota. It fills a need and they are getting great value. Jefferson plays out of the slot quite a bit. He is downfield threat as well. His body control is fantastic and the ability after the catch is on par with CeeDee Lamb as some of the best in this draft class. 

Pete Prisco gives the pick an 'A': "I love this pick. He's not (Stefon) Diggs, but he's also not going to complain every play like Diggs did. I thought he would go before this."

Looking at the ranking for Jefferson (I was against picking him, by the way because he is a slot receiver):

Daniel Jeremiah has him as the #14 player on his board.

PFF has him as the #32 player.

Sam Ekstrom has him #42.

Rotoworld have him as #19.

Daniel House has him as #25.

Jon Ledyard has him as #15.

NFL.com has him #21.

No. 26 overall: The Packers select QB Jordan Love, Utah State

Green Bay selects the heir apparent to Aaron Rodgers. I can not imagine Rodgers is thrilled. He was likely looking for some help with additional pass catchers. Love makes frustrating decisions but there are comparisons to Patrick Mahomes. He is capable of throwing from odd arm angles and while on the run. It worked out well the last time Green Bay took a quarterback late in Round 1. 

Pete Prisco gives the pick a 'D': "Terrible move by the Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers told me last summer he wants to play until he's 40. They needed a receiver. They needed defensive help. Sitting behind Rodgers will do Love well, but not going to do the Packers well. You're on the cusp of getting to a Super Bowl, get Rodgers some help."

I really like Gladney's ball skill. He has first round ability. Minnesota was able to address a few big needs after losing Stefon Diggs at wide receiver and Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, Mackensie Alexander at cornerback. Rick Spielman knocked it out of the park. 

Pete Prisco gives the pick a 'B': "It's a need pick, no question about it. I like the player. There are some character concerns, that's something they'll have to address. Mike Zimmer loves to draft corners. This pick makes sense."

This is from Daniel Jeremiah:

Jefferson is a tall, slender wideout with off-the-charts production. He lines up in the slot and out wide. He is an outstanding route runner. He does a nice job getting on the toes of cornerbacks and then creating separation out of the break point. He does a lot of work in traffic and will extend and finish before taking hard contact. He can play above the rim down the field and can contort his body to make special catches. He doesn't have elite speed, but he's plenty fast enough. After the catch, he has some wiggle and will fight for extra yards. Overall, Jefferson is a polished receiver and should make an immediate impact at the next level.

Jefferson's body control and ball skills are superb. Whether or not he can consistently create space to work on his own from the outside remains to be seen.

“A quarterback’s best friend, with the contested-catch focus and extreme ball skills to boost completion percentages. Jefferson failed to stand out as an outside target but saw his stock soar with a monster season from the slot. He has decent speed and separation talent, but he needs to improve as a route-runner, as he’s less likely to see the same freedom in space that LSU’s offense helped create for him. He’s slippery in space and able to stab and save throws with quick hands and fluid body adjustments. Teams looking for an inside/outside possession receiver with the size and savvy to make chain-moving catches could push Jefferson up the board.”

Benjamin Solak of Draft Network was not so flattering:

Justin Jefferson is a Day 2 candidate looking to add a consistent option from the slot. Jefferson is lacking in elite physical traits and must answer key questions about his ability to release off of tight coverage if he’s ever to grow out of his slot deployment. With that said, Jefferson has wicked quick and strong hands outside of his frame to address inaccurate balls over the middle of the field, and a quality separation profile given his fluid lower half, ability to modulate burst, and smart route-running approach. Jefferson is a low-ceiling player at the NFL level that is best suited to WR2/3 duties, but for a team looking to win with the quick game, he can be a high-volume target with added value on late downs or on RPOs. Jefferson’s lack of quality special-teams translation and average blocking profile may push him down the board for some teams, and his lack of versatility outside of the slot in Year 1 caps his early projection and draft stock.”
