More on Armon Watts. He may be a key to a solid finish to the season.

I REALLY like Chris Jones. Looks really solid and confident at CB. Vikes might have unearthed a gem.

EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings have released the following statement regarding the four remaining scheduled home games of 2020:

After much consideration and discussion with U.S. Bank Stadium partners, the State of Minnesota and the City of Minneapolis, we will no longer pursue hosting more than 250 fans for the remaining 2020 Vikings regular season home games.

While we have worked hard to develop a safe and responsible plan to bring back a limited number of fans, our decisions have been based on medical guidance with public health as the top priority. We take seriously Minnesota's rising COVID infection rates and increasing hospitalizations and believe closing the final four home games to fans is the right decision to help protect our community.

Players, coaches and staff have missed the energy and passion Vikings fans bring on game day and appreciate the unwavering remote support as we enter the second half of the 2020 season. We look forward to welcoming fans back next season and recreating the special environment we all enjoy at U.S. Bank Stadium. To be in a position to do that, we strongly encourage everyone in Minnesota to take the necessary precautions to minimize the spread of this virus by wearing face coverings, practicing proper social distancing and limiting social gatherings.

274 yards after contact for Cook these past two games.

194 is the most any other running back has Total the past two games.

The narrow concourses and insufficient amount of bathrooms was a problem. The inability to enforce ticketholders to enter through their proper gate was another.

Because of that last incompletion, the #Vikings cost themselves a franchise record in yards per play. They were hovering over 9.0 the entire game, the record was 8.9, and just plunged below to 8.85.

A little bit off topic here, but I thought this was interesting:

ESPN laid off Chris Cote, a producer on the Dan Le Batard show, last week. Dan announced on the show today that Chris will stick around and that Dan is paying his salary + a raise.

Armon Watts got off to a slow start this year, but he’s been playing at a high level recently.

First 4 games: PFF grade 37.1 (127th of 130 DL)
Next 4 games: PFF grade 84.8 (9th of 128)

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2020 6:05:06 PM)

Eric Wilson is an enigma in the Vikings’ linebacking corps. This guy has been playing great lately and has 54 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 3 interceptions, 2.5 sacks, and 3 pass breakups on the season. He’s a magnet for big plays and is a free agent at the end of the year.

The Vikings could very well be choosing between keeping Wilson, the rising star, or sticking with the veteran Barr. While Barr is going to cost a lot to keep, re-signing Wilson won’t come cheap either. The Vikings have a big decision on their hands when it comes to these two. If the team decides that Barr is too expensive to hang onto, he may already have played his last game in purple. If Mike Zimmer remains loyal to his first-ever draft choice, he’ll likely be a strong candidate to have his contract restructured.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2020 6:12:09 PM)

Hunter had surgery to repair a herniated disc in his neck, so his decision to miss the season was the right move, despite how badly it hurts the team. While all signs point to Hunter being healthy enough to play in 2021, there is one huge dark cloud looming over his return: Reportedly, Hunter has told the team he wants to be paid like the best defensive end in the league. He’s currently well under that mark, sitting at 15th behind players like Dante Fowler Jr., Jurrell Casey and Melvin Ingram.

If those contract demands are true, the Vikings could find themselves in a major pickle. While Rob Brzezinski has repeatedly signed players to extensions with virtually no cap space, him pulling it off to appease Hunter seems like a long shot. If Hunter is genuinely upset about his contract, he could hold out. If it lingers into the season, it could be two years in a row that the team is without their star pass rusher.

Unsure where these rumors of Hunter wanting to be the highest paid DE. He just signed a contract a little ove a season ago and is now on the shelf.

I like Le Batard. His show is a fun listen.

He must be getting paid hansomly to be picking up his producer's salary. I think in the end the high level mustaches at ESPN will knuckle under and le Batard won't have to pay a dime of Cote's salary.

At the very least he needs to prove he's healthy and still one of the best DE's before he gets a raise.

Yes, well that was a bit tongue in cheek. But like bstinger said, 'he needs to prove he's healthy and still one of the best DE's before he gets a raise.'

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/12/2020 7:11:42 AM)

Agree on that. Neck injuries can linger or reoccur just look no further than Hughes.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/12/2020 7:41:04 AM)

0 talk of an extension all through next year. If he's fine health wise and reasonably back to his dominant self...give him more in 2022.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/12/2020 10:04:34 AM)

IMO, he has all the leverage. Are you really going to (as a team) try and play hard ball with a 26 YO entering the prime of his career and coming off back-to-back 14.5 sack seasons? Someone will pay him. There's not question about that.
