Vikings with most penalties in 2020

Dozier
O'Neill
Conklin [:-]
Boyd
Irv Smith
Gladney
....

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/1/2021 3:15:48 PM)

This page shows all penalties that resulted in an automatic first down, based on the type of penalty, on 3rd and 4th down. In other words the offense would likely have punted or settled in some form, but the drive was extended by an automatic first down.

2009 to Present. Metric is net TDs. No surprise, GB first. Chi second.

Outstanding offense despite lousy guards.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2021 7:50:19 AM)

Fewest Offensive Plays --
Resulting in Negative Yardage,
thru Week 16:

1. Vikings (62)
2. Buccaneers (65)
3. Raiders (66)
4. Jaguars (67)
5. Packers (68)
6. Titans (70)
7. Chiefs (74)
8. Lions (75)

(Dustin Baker)

In the days with Adrian Peterson carrying the load on the offense, the Vikings did not do very well in this category.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2021 7:59:38 AM)

Most 10+ Yard Gains by RB,
Rush and Reception,
since Start of 2019:

Dalvin Cook (110)
Derrick Henry (91)
Ezekiel Elliott (91)
Alvin Kamara (91)
Nick Chubb (86)
Austin Ekeler (85)

Because going 7-9 is more important than getting looks at young players in a meaningless game...

Chris Tomasson@christomasson

#Vikings rookie guard Kyle Hinton (seventh-round pick) was signed off the practice squad to the 53-man roster last Tuesday but he's inactive today. The Vikings are trying hard to win their finale today, so no thought given to auditioning Hinton.

Practice means everything, playing well in games is of secondary importance to the braintrust here.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2021 3:17:17 PM)

I don’t suppose, now that the season is officially over.. that any memos will be handed out in the locker room to players and/or coaches who are like tits on a boar....

odin -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2021 3:22:26 PM)

JJ with 88-1400 for the year

‘ Cutting Rudolph with a post June-1st designation would save the team $8 million and only create $1.45 million in dead money. Trading Rudolph (before June 1st) would save $5.1 million in cap space with $4.35 million in dead money, but it’s unlikely a team trades for him at these numbers.’...vikingsterritory

Permanently Seattle on the schedule

What, no Saints? Shocking

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2021 4:50:53 PM)

Krammer:

Vikings defense finished with 23 sacks this year, the fewest in franchise history since it became an official stat in 1982. Yannick Ngakoue, traded away after Week 6, is the team's leader with five sacks.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2021 7:15:35 PM)

Interesting data on how lean the years were for drafting quality quarterbacks during a recent long stretch.

https://twitter.com/fbgchase/status/1345896868409126923?s=20

They make this comment as a follow up:

I mean I know Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, Rivers are really great QBs... but I wonder how much their careers were extended by the lack of good QBs that came in the next generation.

Steve Lentz -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2021 7:49:23 PM)

Props to Jefferson. A historic season. The kid just came to play, compete and succeed. What a great pick!!! Don't doubt this kid.
Looking forward to seeing him in Purple for years.

Pathetic.

Viking Rich -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2021 9:28:18 PM)

Just watched Marcus Epps make a fantastic defensive play and interception for the Eagles

Sure would have been nice to have him on a cheap contract making plays versus Harris sucking up a lot of money while watching him making constant "Business Decisions" on the field.

And to think, Odenigbo was pouting about the signing... [>:]

Maybe offer Philthy a 3rd round pick for Carson Wentz?

Strange. Getting a look at Hinton, Udoh, and having O'Neal or Ezra (whomever they plan to put at LT next season) seems much more important than getting one last meaningless win.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/4/2021 7:23:13 AM)

Jeff Gladney's 81 total Tackles in 2020 was the most by Vikings CB since Antoine Winfield played in Minnesota.
