This page shows all penalties that resulted in an automatic first down, based on the type of penalty, on 3rd and 4th down. In other words the offense would likely have punted or settled in some form, but the drive was extended by an automatic first down. 2009 to Present. Metric is net TDs. No surprise, GB first. Fewest Offensive Plays -- Resulting in Negative Yardage, thru Week 16: 1. Vikings (62) 2. Buccaneers (65) 3. Raiders (66) 4. Jaguars (67) 5. Packers (68) 6. Titans (70) 7. Chiefs (74) 8. Lions (75) (Dustin Baker) In the days with Adrian Peterson carrying the load on the offense, the Vikings did not do very well in this category.

Because going 7-9 is more important than getting looks at young players in a meaningless game... Chris Tomasson@christomasson #Vikings rookie guard Kyle Hinton (seventh-round pick) was signed off the practice squad to the 53-man roster last Tuesday but he's inactive today. The Vikings are trying hard to win their finale today, so no thought given to auditioning Hinton.

Krammer: Vikings defense finished with 23 sacks this year, the fewest in franchise history since it became an official stat in 1982. Yannick Ngakoue, traded away after Week 6, is the team's leader with five sacks.

Interesting data on how lean the years were for drafting quality quarterbacks during a recent long stretch. https://twitter.com/fbgchase/status/1345896868409126923?s=20 They make this comment as a follow up: I mean I know Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, Rivers are really great QBs... but I wonder how much their careers were extended by the lack of good QBs that came in the next generation.

Just watched Marcus Epps make a fantastic defensive play and interception for the Eagles Sure would have been nice to have him on a cheap contract making plays versus Harris sucking up a lot of money while watching him making constant "Business Decisions" on the field.

Getting a look at Hinton, Udoh, and having O'Neal or Ezra (whomever they plan to put at LT next season) seems much more important than getting one last meaningless win.
