Pete Bercich suggested that this player should be on the Vikings radar for the first round. I believe he will be available in the second round. He's a little bit like Hunter was- a diamond in the rough. Have him as the #2 player in the draft and ready to trade up for him if he lasts beyond pick 10 overall.

I am opposed to it because the guy hasn't played a full season for about six years and he's 32, wants a big long term contract, and the I believe the salary cap will actually go down next year. Oh. Plus we would have to give up a higher draft pick.

That's pretty cheap. All in all I would be willing to do it as I think the potential reward is worth the risk.

I'd have no problem with 3 years. And I'd go 4 if the final year was easy/cheap to get out of.

How long term? 4 years would be fine with me. I wouldn't want to go longer and of course the contract can't be fully guaranteed.

Teams often want full control of these situations heading into the draft and that’s the case here.

I'd have no problem with 3 years. And I'd go 4 if the final year was easy/cheap to get out of. DL we are brilliant minds thinking alike.

I think I would have to have a really good idea what would happen next year under the salary cap if they play games without crowds before I would consider giving him a big contract even if it did not cost a draft pick. Same with Harris. I am not saying that I am against it, but if the thought is the cap could go down by a big number next year, than I am 100% opposed to either.

I was fence straddling before. I don't know what the draft pick sacrificed by the Vikings in the trade, but I do believe we can get a really good player in the second round, especially if we sweeten it up a little bit with a trade up.

Plus we would have to give up a higher draft pick. When healthy Williams is a beast. We haven’t had anyone of his talent on the OLine since Steve Hutchinson, and Williams is more talented. If he indeed is simply a malcontent then I get the hesitance. But I don’t know that to be cut and dried. I’d be all over getting a LT of his esteem, and would feel much better about our chances going into the new season.

Everyone believed we were the best team in the NFL. Somehow it never happened that season either. I remember we had a quarterback controversy then.
