Don't know how long this will last, but post your playoff comments here.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (7/31/2020 9:36:16 AM)

This will be interesting to track

The NHL tested 4200 players in the week of July18 thru July25
NO positive tests

Play starts in earnest this weekend
Like I said, will be interesting to see what happens.

Very nice, actually amazing. Not one person out of 4200 has the deadly pandemic.

Fiala scores maybe 3 seconds into the PP. 1-0 WIld.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/2/2020 9:54:33 PM)

Wild really buzzing and controlling the play so far. It's always easier to play with a lead. Would be nice to get another one to show for all the domination so far.

Agreed, but if we keep this up we're going to lose our shot at the #1 pick.

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/2/2020 10:58:28 PM)

Another PP goal this time by Spurgeon. Beautiful pass by Staal to Spurgeon camped about 15 feet straight in front of the goal. Beautiful shot by Spurg.
2-0 Wild about to put this game on lock down.

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/2/2020 11:44:53 PM)

Not to jinx us but IMO we haven't given up much of a scoring chance at all and it's halfway through the third. Still 2-0.
Fiala set up Staal on a clean breakaway, but Staal did nothing with it.

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/3/2020 12:11:59 AM)

Spurgeon with his 2nd goal of the game an empty netter. 3-0 Wild. Simply suffocating defense.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/3/2020 6:57:34 AM)

Spurg, Stalock, and Fiala

Life is good.

Helluva win boys.
Love the late night games.
Nothing else to do but enjoy hockey.

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/3/2020 8:17:14 AM)

Best of five series. 2 wins to go.

I hate the late games, since I can't stay up for them. I have to make that long commute to the front bedroom office every morning. It is great to wake up and read about a win. It sounds like the Wild must have controlled the game from the opening face off. I'm glad Evason went with Stalock. NTG would have found a wave to let Vancouver back in the game.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/3/2020 10:24:23 AM)

Stalock made that game 3-0
NTG would have made it a 4-3 barnburner
I have zero doubt

Every time we scored, Vancouver came like demons at us
Stalock made a couple incredible saves on reactionary chances in close that Dubnyk would have just whiffed at and did the "gee they scored" thing.
Stalock was competing his ass off. Like a job was on the line.
He still shouldn't be our #1 goalie, but he was outstanding last night.
The boys play hard for him.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/3/2020 10:31:41 AM)

Stalock is so much quicker and athletic than NTG and so much more aware of positioning it's ridiculous. I think it's safe to say that after 2 years on the Wild staff, Evason looks at Dubnyk and thinks the immortal words .... "Not The Guy".

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/3/2020 10:33:13 AM)

Frankly, I will be shocked if NTG is on the roster next year. From what I have read and heard, Stalock and Kappo were both far more impressive in workouts.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/3/2020 10:38:54 AM)

Stalock made three glove saves on shots from the slot last night that Dubnyk would have had NO chance on
Then we would have been talking about a tight game, rather than how stifling our defense was
My point is, we weren't stifling,. we stayed on their forwards, but even when we let up good shots, our goalie simply ended the play.
Feel so great for Stalock
No kid has ever bled Minnesota blood like him. He loves this state and is giving everything he has. Super story, super kid.

Obviously getting a shutout Stalock played well, but I thought our Defense was tremendous and made it all in all a very easy game for Stalock.

Spurg's last two games in in Edmonton …..

5 goals [:-]

He likes playing in his hometown, apparently. [:D]

Mr. Ed -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/3/2020 12:45:07 PM)

EDMONTON -- Micheal Ferland of the Canucks was fined $5,000 on Monday after he speared Wild winger Ryan Hartman during Sunday night's postseason game between the teams.

Wild forward Luke Kunin was fined $1,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Ferland, who fought Marcus Foligno early in the game, speared Hartman midway through the third period after Kunin grabbed Ferland's stick near the Wild bench. Both Kunin and Hartman were on the bench at the time.

Ferland was assessed a minor penalty for slashing and the Wild received a bench minor for interference.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/3/2020 12:45:35 PM)

The biggest relief to me was Fiala picked up right where he left off. I thought the kid was the real deal, but in the back of my mind was the thought of what if the magic was gone after a long break or an off season.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/3/2020 1:29:37 PM)

Yep, Feels like Fiala has turned the corner
A legit star right now
Demands attention when he's on-ice
Fastest, smartest, most-dangerous forward we have had, maybe ever.
Its not a fluke or a trade bump-in-production. He's the legit deal.

EVER?

Even more dangerous than Dino Ciccarelli??!?!

Isn't that exposing some of us to an indecent truth?

Regardless he was the most deadly sniper we have ever had. Couldn't skate, but if he got a shot in scoring position that light was turning on.

In the words of Al Bundy …. This is a BIG UN tonight.
