Wasn't it my scenario? I'd already brought up the Pittsburgh situation and just brought up the winning the lottery. Oh well. Yes it's a good scenario for the Wild. Chances are only 1 in 8 of getting the #1 overall, but it could happen.

All I know is that Alexis Lafrenière, Kaprizov, Fiala, Calen Addison, Kappo, Ek, Greenway and Kunin would be a young core to get pretty damn excited about.

Is this Lafreniere supposed to be a star from day one? 18 years old and ready to be a star already? Cool. Let's get him.

Not sure who's scenario it was initially, but I still like it.
Good call! [:D]

Listened to Russo on KFAN this morning and he pretty much saw the same old Wild team we did. A bunch of passengers on a team that can't finish even with good scoring chances.
We have exactly 1 top six forward on this team in Fiala and he's trying to do too much since he has no help. Good thing Guerin is getting to see what he has now before he re-ups any more of the dead weight on this team. Now the question is.....will they lay down tonight or actually put out an honest effort? My guess....break out the clubs boys. [:-]

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/7/2020 9:00:55 PM)

Pittsburgh loses. No first round pick coming to us this year. Crap!!

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/7/2020 9:08:57 PM)

SHIT! And the absolutely ridiculous thing is that the team with the 8th best record in the NHL has a shot at winning the NHL lottery.

BETTMAN!!! [X(]

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/7/2020 9:14:44 PM)

Well Crosby is 33 now, so they are due for another generational talent just to keep the NHL power structure where it should be. [&o]

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/7/2020 10:03:59 PM)

So we have to wait all night until the Toronto vs Columbus game is over before our game starts?
Or are we missing the first period while this game is on NBCSN and NHL network?

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/7/2020 10:14:58 PM)

F**n NHL cut away from our game for some damn car show!
And FSN has to show the Twins post game while we miss the Wild game.....

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/7/2020 10:35:08 PM)

I tuned in with a 1-0 lead and Vancouver Quickly scored to tie it. Than Staal makes a ridiculously tough shot that has to be seen to be believed. 2-1 wild. Maybe we can extend the season.

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/7/2020 11:22:59 PM)

Wild take a 3-1 lead after a barrage of shots with Ek scoring on a rebound. However, Vancouver scores after a puck bounces off Stalock 15 feet straight up and drops in the crease. Vancouver keeps the pressure on and ties the game about halfway through the second period 3-3.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/7/2020 11:33:37 PM)

Not skating with the Canucks .....they are beating us to every loose puck.
Getting totally out played in the 2nd period. Now is the time to pull out the Gorg playbook and hope to keep it tied as long as possible.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/7/2020 11:43:27 PM)

Wow, bad angle shots have been going in for us. 4-3 good guys after 2.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/8/2020 12:48:06 AM)

Well, we lose in about 10 seconds in OT. The Wild are who we thought they were.....

Time for some luck. 1 in 8 shot for the #1 pick.

Yup, this team needs some young top end talent!

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/8/2020 1:07:50 AM)

Watching Staal and Parise presser. Gotta love those guys for all they have done, but their time has to be done for us to move forward as an organization.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/8/2020 9:53:26 AM)

A blurb from Russo in The Athletic:

Guerin has got a lot of work to do to get this team faster, better up the middle and between the pipes. The good news is they’ve got a shot at the No. 1 overall pick Monday. Actually, who are we kidding? They’re battling against Edmonton, Pittsburgh and the Rangers for the lucky BINGO balls. They’ve got no shot.

I think this pretty much sums it up for us.

You notice the guys on the ice at the time?
Yeah, me neither [X(]
Nice send-off Koivu. Weak fails at getting pucks out. Story of our lives here.
Pathetic end to a career that was all about him feeling good about himself.
We somehow find the few hockey players in the world who would not cut off their left nut for a Cup. [X(]
Lucky us.

I keep going back to the Jeff Jesser comment. To paraphrase ... please give me Canadian players. Canadians die a little inside when they lose a hockey game.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/10/2020 1:13:00 PM)

Bob Mason, Goalies Coach, will not be brought back.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2020 playoffs (8/10/2020 1:26:08 PM)

Not a shock at all. Been here a long time and hasn't really helped anyone get better or kept them from getting worse for that matter.
