Toby Stumbo -> WEEK 1: vs Packers 9-13-20 12:00PM CT (9/9/2020 8:16:50 AM)

2020 has been weird year to say the least but we have football coming back and what a way to start it, by destroying the Packers!!!

GO VIKES!!!

Bill Johanesen -> RE: WEEK 1: vs Packers 9-13-20 12:00PM CT (9/9/2020 10:14:54 AM)

After much thought, here are the keys to this particular game:
Pressure Rodgers
Protect Cousins
Control the LOS
Win the turnover battle
Run at will
Stop their run game cold
Convert in the RZ
Outscore them

joejitsu -> RE: WEEK 1: vs Packers 9-13-20 12:00PM CT (9/9/2020 12:09:24 PM)

Agreed. Pressure and winning the turnover battle will win the game. And, we have to avoid penalties that kill drives. That happened a ton last season, if I remember correctly.

lyle chabot -> RE: WEEK 1: vs Packers 9-13-20 12:00PM CT (9/10/2020 7:25:56 AM)

Losing Hunter to IR really hurts, I hope Ngakoue and Odenigbo step up to help put pressure on Roger's or it will be a long day.

TJSweens -> RE: WEEK 1: vs Packers 9-13-20 12:00PM CT (9/10/2020 9:34:57 AM)

We really .... REALLY ... need the middle of both of our lines to surprise the hell out of us.

Misguided or not, I really expect the corner play to be significantly improved this year. This will take some pressure of the safeties.

I expect the LB play to be solid.

I expect. Ngakoue and Odenigbo to generate pressure from the edges.

If the guys in the middle of the d-line don't step up, the defense could get picked apart by Erin Rodgers, even with strong play in the other areas. Without an inside push, Rodgers will have escape lanes when the ends get up field. If the tackles can't contain the inside running game, Rodgers will have an easy day.

I expect we will be fine at receiver. Bisi has supposedly taken the next step and Jefferson will be a good one.

I expect Smith and Rudolph to be a formidable TE tandem.

Bitch about him all you want, Cousins is a good QB.

Here is the problem, and it's big one, Dozier, Bradbury, Elfline. We hope that Bradbury is stronger in year 2 and that playing at the NFL level is more second nature. Scouts billed him as the best center prospect in 10 years when we drafted him. Hopefully he lives up to billing, unlike the best LT prospect in 10 years we drafted several years ago. Elfline? Will moving to the right side really make that much difference? Maybe it is something as simple as flipping the footwork. He too was a highly regarded prospect when the Vikings drafted him. He was supposed to be an absolute steal in the 3rd round.

I think there are a lot of things to really like about this team going into the Puker game. Unfortunately, it can be badly undermined by the middle of both lines.

I expect we will be fine at receiver

I think we traded away one of the best wr's in the league and we're going to struggle. W/O a deep threat teams are going to load the box.

Who’s our fastest pass catcher? It sure as hell ain’t Rudolph.

Yep. They are the biggest weaknesses on the team right now. They have to play big this weekend.

Watch Jefferson. He's young, but he played big at LSU. I think he will be a big player for us.

Knute -> RE: WEEK 1: vs Packers 9-13-20 12:00PM CT (9/11/2020 3:13:27 PM)

I wish I could feel optimistic about this game, but I don't.

Packers have a pretty effective run game that they are going to pound us with and bring the safety down into the box, and that will allow Rodgers to make the young corners look bad. I do have faith the new CB's will improve greatly over the season, and may end up being one of the most promising young units in the game, but I can't help but think they will struggle out of the gate. Especially against a pro-bowl QB.

I'm also worried the OL is going to get exposed early, and Kirk will struggle with pressure getting up in his face, and if Cook can't get going, it will compound those issues. We'll start to see Jefferson getting some catches in the 4th quarter as the Packers get a little more prevent in their defense.

I think the Packers will score early and often, and the Vikings will look better as the game wears on. The Vikes will mount a little comeback in the second half, but it will be too little, too late.
Packers 30 Vikings 20

Bruce Johnson -> RE: WEEK 1: vs Packers 9-13-20 12:00PM CT (9/13/2020 8:00:35 AM)

The Packers are limited with their receiving options. Adams can be doubled and the rest don't scare me. The key to me is stopping the run. The Vikings have been thinking about this game for months. They will more options to beat the Packers. This should be a win for the Vikings. If not, it will be very disappointing.

Mark Anderson -> RE: WEEK 1: vs Packers 9-13-20 12:00PM CT (9/13/2020 9:39:48 AM)

Vikings 24

Packers 20

SteveR -> RE: WEEK 1: vs Packers 9-13-20 12:00PM CT (9/13/2020 10:53:06 AM)

The Vikings can win today. The Packers have swept us for a while, so we are due. The first game of the season is as good a chance as any, and we are at home. It will probably be a sloppy game without preaseason, which adds another wild card element.

Todd M -> RE: WEEK 1: vs Packers 9-13-20 12:00PM CT (9/13/2020 11:43:10 AM)

Packer douches keeping the focus staying inside. Good.

David F. -> RE: WEEK 1: vs Packers 9-13-20 12:00PM CT (9/13/2020 12:06:04 PM)

Take a drink every time an announcer refers to Rodgers as ‘cerebral’.

Pager -> RE: WEEK 1: vs Packers 9-13-20 12:00PM CT (9/13/2020 12:10:10 PM)

A lot of missed tackles for the vikes.

No pressure on Rodgers.

no crowd, raw DBs, and a HOF QB.

Not a great combo.

Pager -> RE: WEEK 1: vs Packers 9-13-20 12:00PM CT (9/13/2020 12:17:42 PM)
