The Wild route the Yotes again 5-2. In the process, Kaprizov scored to break Marian Gaborik's rookie scoring record. Kaprizov reached his total in 27 fewer games than Gaborik. Evason's benching of Fiala on Saturday night appears to have paid off. Fiala came back with a goal and an assist on Kirill Bill's goal. Bonino kept his point streak going with 2 assists, but Parise had his point streak broken. All in all that line with Sturm is playing with a lot of energy and producing. I have to give special mention to a player I admittedly haven't given his proper due over the years. Jonas Brodin is having one hell of a year. He scored another goal last night, bringing his total to 6 this year. Now that the Wild have added a couple of guys like Cole and Soucy, who can play the heavier defensive game, I have started to appreciate what Brodin does a lot more. The man may have one of the highest hockey IQ's of any blue liner in the NHL. I've really come to appreciate the way he uses his feet. It has almost become common place to see him lock sticks with the enemy in front of the net and redirect the pass in front to a teammates stick with his skate. It's hard to believe he is only 27. He has been around so long, it almost seems like he is one of the original Wild. Comparisons between guys we traded and guys we got in return... Staal: GP 41, G 5, Pts 12, +/- -27 Johansson: GP 26, G 6, Pts 13, +/- -5 Kunin: GP 30, G 5, Pts 14, +/- +1 Bonino: GP 41, G 6, Pts 17, +/- -1 note: The Wild also picked up high 2nd & 3rd round picks in the last draft.
