Time for a fresh page. Keep up the idle talk peeps!

twinsfan -> RE: Idle Talk - 5th Chapter (2/22/2021 9:05:25 AM)

Good job, bstinger. I'm happy for you.

MDK -> RE: Idle Talk - 5th Chapter (2/22/2021 1:47:38 PM)

Ditto on all the best wishes Stinger.

As for George Jones

"He Stopped Loving Her Today" is a great song.

I don't like modern country but do like some of the old artists like Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Marty Robbins, Tom T Hall, Jim Reeves and a few others.

So Tiger was in a big accident this morning in Cali. Rumor broke both legs and is in surgery.

Injuries are not considered life-threatening. Currently undergoing surgery on leg injuries. Local police source said the initial report from the scene of the accident indicated the possibility of multiple leg fractures. #TigerWoods #golf

I know most of you aren't Country Music fans, but these are lyrics from a chorus of a song that is popular now from a band called Rascal Flatts. I'm not a big fan of there's but this is a really powerful message that I think helped my daughter and I come back together.

Did you stand or did you fall?
Build a bridge or build a wall?
Hide your love or give it all?
What did you do? What did you do?
Did you make 'em laugh or make 'em cry?
Did you quit or did you try?
Live your dreams or let 'em die?
What did you choose? What did you choose?
When it all comes down
It ain't if, it's how they remember you

Here is a link to the song if you care to listen.

Sounds like a pretty good message.

The remake of Love is a Highway by Rascal Flatts for Cars wasn't bad. I prefer Tom Cochrane original version.
Loved Cochrane's video with the 66 Chevy impala super sport.

RIP Irv Cross.

TJSweens -> RE: Idle Talk - 5th Chapter (3/2/2021 8:47:52 AM)

I have some bad news to share. Two weeks ago Ma Sweens took a bad fall and fractured her pelvis. About a week into transitional care things took a bad turn. The doctor told us that the affect of a fall on a 102 year old body is much the same as a heart attack. She is now in hospice care and being kept comfortable, which unfortunately means a combination of meds that has her loopy and pretty much out. Hopefully as the bone heals, the pain and inflammation will subside enough to reduce the meds and leave her more able to communicate.

Sorry to hear that.
She’s a tough old bird at 102 though, I see a recovery.

On a lighter note, tournament baseball is alive and well in the NW.
I took my 12u team up near Seattle a couple of weeks back where we won one game and lost two.

Two losses were to powerhouse programs, but we held tough losing 6-4 in both.

Younger Son played a round robin last weekend and went 3-1 against some power programs from Oregon.
His team is real good and deep.

Pretty much 7 day a week baseball around here.
That and no SoMnFan will likely keep my post counts down a bit.

Lynn G. -> RE: Idle Talk - 5th Chapter (3/2/2021 10:19:23 AM)

So sorry to hear about your mom Tim. It's a reminder to all of us that things can turn on a dime for all of us, so we need to appreciate our good health when we have it.

Tim
Thinking about your mother, you and your entire family.

Steve Lentz -> RE: Idle Talk - 5th Chapter (3/2/2021 2:18:16 PM)

Hoping and praying for a quick recovery.

Sorry to hear it Sweens....been gone a few days. Get well Ma Sweens!!!

Hang in there, Sweeney!

twinsfan -> RE: Idle Talk - 5th Chapter (3/3/2021 4:58:04 PM)

My mom called today and said Grandma is in the hospital. Her legs were too weak to get around her apartment. Her oxygen levels are low. Mom says the best case scenario at this point is that she's able to survive and live in the nursing home. She'll turn 92 in mid-March. She's been a tough old bird too, so hoping she can recover.
