La Canfora (CBS Sports) says Vikings are having internal discussions about a coaching change.

I would hope so.

So, who leaks that info? Is it on purpose, the brother to a friend? What?

I think, of course the two brothers have talked about it. I can't imagine whether it's a no brainer to not likely to happen, two brothers not chatting about getting a new coach. Wouldn't you talk to your brother about just about everything Vikings if you owned the team? Of course you would.

I mean, sure, La Canfora is correct ... but did they have it on the agenda?

Dorothy, get all the principals in here at 9:45am tomorrow to discuss replacing Zim. And don't forget that coffee cake from HyVee this time, either.

That same article says Fangio likely to be done in Denver. Defensive Coordinator candidate.

I've been so against Adam Z from the get go. The hiring of AZ and Brian F, OC at Iowa, is one of the worst ways to screw loyal fans of a team. We deserve the best hire, not having to sit through the process of getting them into the good ol' boys club - earn your bones somewhere else

Agree 100%. Nepotism sucks. We saw it with both Zimmer and Kubiak.

Spielman probably has his suits made of teflon. A smooth talking SOB that will gladly shove Zim under the bus and pretend he wasn't at fault.

We need a guy with an analytics background, not a guy with a "my brother was a great linebacker" background.

Their failures are complete.

Zimmer, Spielman, and Cousins has to go.

We can go from sour to a breath of fresh air by simply doing the right thing.

I'm in for Cousins for one more year ... unless we have someone as good - not a project

Rodgers?

Brad H -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2022 8:11:27 AM)

Despite the game being completely over last night, Jordan Love already looked better than anything on the Vikings' roster.

Brad H -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2022 8:14:57 AM)

On a side note, anyone see the Antonio Brown meltdown yesterday? Crazy stuff.

I'd take LaFleur in a heartbeat. Make him the GM and coach.

Even so, it's going to take at least 2 years to re-build the defense, assuming Hunter returns to health.

Things haven't been great. If an all new philosophy gets us liking this team again, and then we're at least competitive for a playoff spot year 2 I'll take it.

I don't see us regressing that far.

God bless you Ricky, you are the optimistic fan I used to be. We need more fans like you. That said, I couldn't disagree more about Cousins.

The only way I want Cousins back is if we get Kyle Shanahan as our next head coach and Cousins cuts his salary in half. Otherwise I see no way to win a Super Bowl with Cousins and that's all I care about.

How do you cure the disease without killing the patient? How far do you go?

Can't stand Kyle Shanahan. Waaaaaaaaaaaay overrated.

Brad H -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2022 8:47:19 AM)

Isn't it about time to crank up the 2022 Draft thread? We've got plenty of needs, that's for sure.

twinsfan -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2022 8:49:55 AM)

What are the scenarios for the Vikes to make the playoffs?

Brad H -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2022 8:52:23 AM)

Anybody noticing a change in the NFL playoff coaches? Young guys with a ton of game. The Zimmer types are on their way out. Andy Reid and Bill Belichick are soon going to be a dying breed.

The young guys are risk-takers. Cincinnati, Philadelphia, LA Chargers, LA Rams, Cardinals, Packers. The guys like Zimmer and Fangio will soon be a thing of the past.

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2022 8:53:32 AM)

Good. Let's get ours.

Brad H -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2022 8:53:39 AM)

If I were the Vikes, I'd at least give a look at Nagy. That guy got a raw deal in Chicago. He was over .500 coming into this season with absolute garbage on the team.

ambear -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2022 8:56:30 AM)

Young blood with new ideas and the nuts make them happen. No more Zimmerball.

Gotta get somebody that understands football in the 21st century. This organization has been living in the past for a long time now. It needs a massive culture change.

How come GB (with a backup oline) can avg 6 yards per carry while our starting oline just gets manhandled?

Looked like a varsity vs jv game from top to bottom.

Our Ol is a disgrace. Has been for a long time.

There is only one quarterback in the league that is old (or immobile) that makes an offensive line look good, and that is in Tampa. It's a very different game than 10 years ago. You have to have a mobile quarterback.

Atlanta, horrific. Detroit, horrific. Pittsburgh, horrific.

Peter King:

I think it is so fitting that the Vikings season went up in flames Sunday thanks to a good man getting very bad advice about vaccines. (I don’t absolve Kirk Cousins of blame here, not at all, because he’s an educated person. But it’s still so hard to believe that an educated person with the fate of an NFL franchise on his shoulders would not do everything he could to not test positive and to stay available for his team.) Minnesota was walking on the edge of a cliff all season with Cousins’ willful decision to stay unvaccinated, and it’s sadly ironic that a positive Covid test finally prevented Cousins from playing a survival game against his arch-rivals in the penultimate game of the season.

I would have cut him on Saturday. Don't care about the money we'd have to eat. Anybody that willfully stupid would not be my quarterback and team leader. In fact, I would have cut him before the season when he said he wasn't getting vaccinated.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2022 9:17:47 AM)

Zimmer hasn't been fired yet?

What are they waiting for? What could they possibly be discussing?

Always a delicate situation, as the GM has to explain away the guy he hired.

Brad H -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2022 9:37:32 AM)

The problem is that the Vikings owner is a very hands-off guy. Doesn't care about much other than the bottom line. He's not a football guy.

Robert Kraft, football guy. Jerry Jones, football guy. The late Al Davis, football guy.

Wilf is a guy with almost zero connection to Minnesota or the fans of the team. He bought the team for $600-million and now it's worth $3-billion. That's his only connection to the franchise, which is why the inmates have been running the asylum ever since he bought the franchise.

Murph -> RE: General Vikes Talk (1/3/2022 9:41:44 AM)

All 3 have to go but Rick first.

Spielman is responsible for the the QB mess that is the anchor on this team, paying a good QB HOF cap space and having no serviceable back up. The offensive line neglect . His moving down and amassing of a crap ton of mid to late round picks. Last, the hiring of a good but not great coach in Zimmer.

Zimmer should have been fired right after his press conference, he is completely lost in today's game.

I think we can get a decent pick for Cousins. No way do we keep him at 45 mil or keep him as our starter, if we our goal is truly winning a Super Bowl.
