I was wondering how the media was going to perceive this game...

So much more talk about the Bills being in trouble or that they lost it, etc, rather than the Vikes stepping up

Some saying it was a statement game for Minnesota, but they always add the question marks...

Is this the turning point? or just a good win? will we see them one and done in the playoffs? blah blah blah

Still not getting the respect, probably because of Kirk, but I'd rather keep flying under the radar, if that is possible at 8-1

i see it as very similar to last season, being that we play to the level of our competition...only this season we're winning the games....

And KOC should make it job #1 to work on whatever to ensure the damn ball is snapped before the play clock runs out. He could have used a challenge with that 19 yard sideline pass that (I think) Davis did not catch.

Can a team review that under 2 min. What's the rule on that now?

That used to be a time when a TO was called to give replay a min to look again

The Vikes used their last TO just prior to that play.

Yep, due to Z injury

It looked very clear to me Cousins was stuffed. Not sure what you're seeing if you think differently.

Usually we get a camera angle right down the goal line and you can tell if ball is touching line or not. Maybe JJ was in the way of that camera because he came running into the picture from that side.

You know how easy it would be to put Geo Trackers on the ball (each end) and use that in the stadium (first down markers and goal line)....(then you don't need camera angles except if a knee or elbow touches).

Same thing in baseball. Geo Track the basball and every uniform, the shoulders and knees of the uniform. and the plate.

What happens when the "non end" parts of the football precede the "end" parts?

the thing is about joseph; there aren't many players that have made all of their under 50-yard field goals...he has....

at least o'connell knows his range....

they need to figure out the x-point issue....

You can call a TO if you have one available. And I'm pretty sure "NY" will take a look if time is given to them.

Right. And yes they prob would take a look - we've all seen it before.

But ... shouldn't of they slowed play a tick or two to see if anything was there? - it's an odd thing; but I guess if you want to be fair it wasn't the most obvious "catch" out there. Still! What the hell's the purpose of NY if they can't get this right. A quick look doesn't have to take 3 or 4 min if there's nothing there

And IF the play is overturned, they would give back the TO, because you could argue that they called a TO based on the outcome of the play

So, IIRC they can choose if they still want to use the TO

Goes back to my belief if getting rid of replay

It doesn't resolve disputes, it just moves disputes around

Game Ball to Greg Joseph...

I said this live on game day thread as it happened... Missing the PAT forced Vikes to play much more aggressive, and lead to the crazy ending.

Plus he then made the game winner from same spot on field...

-----

NOW today go out and find a kicker that can make his kicks, he is a liability in playoffs

Game ball and a plane ticket it to go with it? ... crazy how many kicks this guy is missing

And he couldn't kick off past the 10, so they had to start squib kicking them.

Depending on which way; our punter also struggled early on his first punt. Cold and windy.

Are the Vikings good?
Sunday's win gave both sides ammunition for their argument. If you're a Vikings believer, you saw a team fight back against one of the NFL's best teams down 17 points in the second half and win. The Vikings overcame adversity, picked up big plays when they needed, forced two critical Allen interceptions and pulled out a game in which they were seen as underdogs on a national stage against Case Keenum, let alone an MVP candidate in Allen.

If you're more of a skeptic, well, you can tell yourself an entirely different story. The Vikings fell behind by multiple touchdowns and needed one long touchdown run by Dalvin Cook to get back in the game before the greatest catch of Jefferson's life extended it. Then, after they were stuffed at the goal line, the Bills gifted them a touchdown with a botched snap. Ed Donatell's defense then failed to stop the Bills from driving for a tying field goal. While the Vikings took the lead in overtime, the Bills were driving to match or win before a mental mistake by Allen handed Minnesota yet another close victory.

I fall somewhere in the middle on this question. Pulling out a win in Buffalo is impressive, no matter how they come about that victory. Since acquiring Diggs in 2020, the Bills had been 19-4 at home and 20-3 when scoring at least 30 points. They had been 8-0 when both were true. Even if it took a well-timed fumble, this is the sort of win the Vikings can point to as the first line on their 2022 résumé.

I guess I fall somewhere in the middle, too

I want to believe, but Vikings fans have been burned so often...

Last 3 seemingly charmed seasons 2017, 2009, 1998...

This is going to sound shitty, but isn't meant to:

IDGAF about what the media thinks, power rankings, etc... I want wins and a SB trophy!

That was a solid win that showed lots of guts! I have enough "moral victory" losses when one bad bounce or bad call doomed us. I'll take the win, thank you very much, sir.

**** the media. **** the NFL. **** the other 31 teams. SKOL Vikings!! Let's go!!!!!

There was not, but first does KOC subscribe to the MO to call a timeout. Cause coaches still need to get the refs to buy in right? At home, they'd show the play but on the road I've seen them not show a thing. Or does NY chime in if they become aware of a questionable call? If they don't see it, who would relay it (presuming the refs can't see any big screen replays)?

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/14/2022 2:39:58 PM)

I can't fault NY for not seeing the close non-catch during game speed. Seems they'd have to spot something that wasn't quite obvious, review, be sure, and communicate it before the next snap. Otherwise, as a policy, they'd be interrupting the flows of the games.

Whistle blows, ref says this is a referee timeout due to NY maybe seeing something.
