What’s a Shake Milton?

He's a very nice player. Basically what everyone hoped Nowell could be.

Speaking of Nowell? What’s his status? We certainly don’t need him. He was given every chance this year and was a major letdown.

If he's smart he'll go to Europe where he can take 25 shots/game.

He's not an NBA player.

Jon Krawczynski@JonKrawczynski

Brown and Milton both shot about 38 percent from 3 last season. Very important for a Wolves team short on shooting, especially after Prince's departure.

Milton and NAW give the Wolves combo guards who can play both backcourt positions. Versatility will be key.

I just liked NAWs defense and energy. If he can make an occasional 3 so much the better.

He absolutely needs to. NAW's defense on Murray last year was fantastic. But if he's not 10/25 from 3 in that series, he likely doesn't get the chance to lock him up. Especially this year where there is more competition for minutes at his spot.

Josh Okogie was a great story for Phoenix last year. Until he got played off the court in the Playoffs.

The NAW Okogie comparison is a valid one. I think NAW is a little better defender. And Okogie eventually proved to be a total offensive non-factor. NAW can’t afford to be that.

Wow.

So Dame implies that if PDX does't re-sign Grant he'll ask out.

So Portland signs Grant to a ridiculous 5/160 contract.

Dame asks out.

David Levine -> RE: Timberwolves 2022 - 2023 Season (7/3/2023 11:54:31 AM)

Ant signs his much deserved Max contract extension.

Edwards stamped his ascension into superstardom with a historic playoff series against the eventual champion Denver Nuggets. The first-time All-Star averaged 31.6 points on 48.2/34.9/84.6 shooting splits, 5.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists-to-1.6 turnovers, 1.8 steals and 2.0 blocks across 39.8 minutes per game.

His incredible playoff dominance was built upon a phenomenal regular season, in which the 2020 No. 1 overall pick averaged a career-high 24.6 points per game on 45.9/36.9/75.6 shooting splits, 5.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 36 minutes per game across a career-high 79 games played.

These should be Edwards' prime years coming up. Should be fun.

He should be finishing the extension as he's hitting his prime.

Arguably one of the best young players in NBA history. For points before age 22 only LeBron, Durant and Melo are ahead of him.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Timberwolves 2022 - 2023 Season (7/6/2023 8:59:37 AM)

I am going to say---the moves that the Connelly FO made this offseason (draft and FA) really make a ton of sense. We seem cleansed of Russell which really hurt us.

Back Seat driving says I like the C we drafted better than Gobert but we get another try with a more talented team this year.

Good to see Ant getting more and more national recognition. Kid has a real chance to be THE FACE of the NBA.

The Final Four of the NBA's new in-season tournament will take place on Dec. 7 and 9 in Las Vegas, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Wednesday.

Statistics will count for the league's regular season, except for the championship game of the event, Wojnarowski reports.

Full details on the competition -- including groupings -- will be unveiled Saturday night in Las Vegas on ESPN's "NBA Today," the league said. Commissioner Adam Silver, recent No. 1 overall picks Victor Wembanyama, Paolo Banchero and Cade Cunningham and All-Stars Anthony Edwards and Trae Young will be part of the broadcast.

What's this about the NBA playing a tournament in December with tournament games counting towards the regular season standings, but the championship game not counting in the standings? It makes no sense to me.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Timberwolves 2022 - 2023 Season (7/7/2023 12:08:03 PM)

I don’t get it either. What are they playing for? Bonus money? Bragging rights? A meaningless banner to hang?

But the games will count in the regular season standings. So I guess that's something? It's bizarre and when you know DL can't explain it, it's really bad.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Timberwolves 2022 - 2023 Season (7/8/2023 8:17:33 AM)

I guess if nothing else it’s a way to make the schedule a little tougher for good teams? The teams that win games in the mid-season tournament are likely to be better and will play each other in following rounds.

Maybe he'll be 7' by opening night.

You guys need more height?

Ant is playing at a totally different level than his teammates.

He was the only guy who could score. He was throwing perfect passes that guys couldn’t connect on. He was defending Wagner and he was getting every key rebound late.

I haven't seen any games but been reading a lot of praise regarding Edwards play in FIBA. Kerr and just lately Paul George were gushing about him.
