Some of you act like all Cousins does is try and convert you - what a bunch of bs

You've got a prob with Cousins getting what he can get while everyone in the NFL does the exact same thing - except TB ... maybe

Watch out, Ricky.

calvary will be coming shortly.

Whatever. I think Ill get through it

I don't do well when I think people are being treated unfairly - like shit! It's the way Im wired. Character matters. Cousins has it, imo.

Personally, I've never felt he was sticking anything in my face. If he was I'd have a problem with it.

Same with classmates and friends who post God things on FB. Just scroll on by or hit the X. Gee, how hard was that? And when they post 'bout they're son or daughter going to state, hit the "like' button. Just 'cause they're wired differently than I am doesn't make the them worthy of bs ridicule

People are going to have a problem when you start bringing God into your fully guaranteed 80 million dollar contract. Wordly possession isn't what God is about if you read the book. So it comes across as very disingenuous. Don't shoot the messenger just putting some perspective on maybe why he's rubbed some the wrong way.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2023 8:41:30 AM)

Unless Cousins is reading the posts, he isn't being treated unfairly.

He's no more over the top with religion than say Cris Carter who would point upwards after a TD and get players together for a group prayer after games. But what's up with playing on Sunday, supposedly a Christian day of rest? And didn't the bible say not to worship gold or whatever... he certainly ran with those chains. What message does that send to the impressionable churchgoing youth, even in jest? [&:] Maybe they were silver chains.

Lets all hope you can get through this. Hang in there … when someone doesn’t whisper sweet nothings in your boy Kirk’s ear. I’m cheering for you.

God almighty. I didn’t respond to your previous holier than thou, more enlightened than those unenlightened BSers post.

Now its you standing watch over the downtrodden!

I am truly sorry Cousins got injured. I’m sorry you got thrown for such a devastating loop. I would not wish his injury or your existential crises on anybody.

But you hold fast … you never know, he may be back.

jbusse -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2023 11:09:26 AM)

The salary difference between a good veteran QB and a QB on a rookie contract is roughly $30-$45 million. For instance, Kirk's salary is $35 million; Burrow, Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Hurts are $50-$55 million. Rookie contracts range from around $5 million (Justin Fields) to $9.5 million (Bryce Young). An extra $40 million seems like a lot, but only if spent wisely. Sign a few Davenport types, and the advantage is wasted.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2023 12:01:12 PM)

When I posted Kwesi is solely responsible for Cousins predicament of not having a contract, that isn't entirely correct. 35/36 year old Cousins wanted a multi-year contract. Kwesi said F that but you can sign for a year. Cousins did not. So for 2024 Cousins is to blame for his own fate, and look at him now.

Since the injury, some posters have been going on and on about religion, unhinged "You got what you wanted" assertions, and assorted posts about... posters. Basically, anything else EXCEPT addressing the offseason decisions of Cousins himself. There has not been a SINGLE POST about that from the Kirk Stans camp. Why is that?

Exactly. It's simple math. Cousins probably wanted something in the range of $35-40 million per for three years, along with it all being guaranteed and with a no-trade clause. Basically the team would be stuck with an aged QB and $100+ million albatross.

Ever since Brady playing at 40+ years old, every wanna-be thinks they can do the same AND expects to be paid nine-figures.

Props to Kwesi for essentially telling Cousins to go pound sand.

He'll be the backup for now, but Kevin O'Connell said new #Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs has absorbed enough of the playbook already to run the offense.

-The line is at -3.5 on FanDual so obviously I'm not the only one who took your suggestion.

jbusse -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2023 12:58:00 PM)

MyCole Pruitt has 210 snaps for the Falcons this year as 3rd string TE. Decent career (for a 5th round pick) since Vikes drafted him in 2015.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2023 1:14:16 PM)

Dobbs doesn't know where the stadium is but he can run the offense [:-]

He has a track record for this kind of thing, but after only three days?

> Dobbs made the first two starts of his career last year with the Titans less than two weeks after arriving in Nashville. This year, he got his first chance to be a full-time starter when the Cardinals gave him the ball in Week 1 just a couple weeks after acquiring him from the Browns. He's 1-9 in his career as a starter,...

> The 28-year-old journeyman quarterback was shipped from the Browns to the Cardinals in August, marking his seventh time changing teams in a four-year span. After quickly learning the playbook and starting the first eight games of the season for a rebuilding Arizona team, Dobbs was benched and then subsequently acquired by the Vikings before the trade deadline.

At least Dobbs is used to it by now. After getting drafted by the Steelers out of Tennessee in 2017 and spending the first few years of his career in Pittsburgh, he bounced between Jacksonville, Pittsburgh again, Cleveland, Detroit, Tennessee, Cleveland again, and then Arizona.

of course, I want the vikings to win, and i'll be rooting for hall...but i'm much more interested in seeing dobbs manage this offense than hall....

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2023 7:41:50 PM)

Should be a good game, but it might be ugly.

I give a slight edge to the more experienced QB, over the QB making his first start. Bijan Robinson could be trouble screening against blitzes.

Should Dobbs play, it will probably be too late to save the day. I would like the Vikings in this one if it were at home, I am thinking the home team wins this one, unless the Vikings' defense can out score the Falcon's offense.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2023 9:08:11 PM)

Watching Caleb and Penix is like video game madness, but rejoice... we beat Carolina, Chicago, and GB! Victories to savor years from now.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2023 9:51:03 PM)

The SF win was also something to really savor.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/4/2023 10:08:01 PM)

Huh. I'm wondering how you mean that, like
A. We really beat a good team that day, or
B. SF, 0-3 the last three, is lucky they're on a bye or they'd be looking at 0-4 and wondering how they got fooled at QB

Most important FA or contract was Hunter and JJ. Neither have been extended. If Hall and or Dobbs can get JJ and Addison the ball we have now worries but TBD

Vikes point totals in our eight games so far in order: 17,28,24,21,20,19,22,24. That's an average of 21.9 per game. But don't forget two of our TDs were defensive scores. Through eight games our offense scores 20.4 points per game. You're telling me we can't find anyone that can replace that? It doesn't seem like an insurmountable amount of points to me. In fact - I'd like the replacement to be Sean Mannion because he is exactly who I'd like the to see at QB. In fact, I'm in love with Sean Mannion. Kissy-kissy-kissy-kissy oh how I love him.

I'm going on record: Kirk stans are about to find out just how easily replaceable he was/is.

Is this your post?

Yep! And I added in more that I was too afraid to put in the first time.

[&:]
I will be on record...I like Kirk better than Teddy, Case, Sam, TJack, and Ponder. This is basically his first injury in how many years as QB....if that makes me stans or whatever so be it.

FYI the 5 I listed are better than our Mullens and Mannion.....Sam was oft injured so he is probably #2 to Kirk as the best QB we have had in 15 years....I hope Hall is better than the others on the list.

I'm far from a Kirk Stan, he has obvious flaws that will keep him from being a top flight QB, but he is better than everyone Phil listed, and I loathe Phil, so I hate agreeing with him. KC is a very good QB, but he isn't great and never will be. Still, if you pick any random QB, not many will be as good as he is, very few at the things he's strongest at. But to win it all, you have to find him or the guy you do find will have to be so cheap that you can build a dominate team around him. If Hall can be slightly above average but incredibly cheap, maybe we build a dominant team around him and that is enough. IDK, but I would've done a bunch of things different from Queasy. I just hope the find a way to Win One Before I Die!

The amazing part of all this was that Jaren Hall was the back-up plan. That, in itself, should get someone in the front office fired.

I thought Cousins becoming an UFA (cannot franchise) in March with no #1 qb in waiting was poor planning. The clock just got turned up 6 months.

Levis was there for the taking last draft. Kwesi appears to be a man without a plan.

I call him Queasy for a reason.

I will be interested to see how Penix does in the playoffs. Pac12 defenses, for the most part, are sieves.

He looks good though. And supposedly the intangibles are top notch.

ronhextall -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/5/2023 11:36:17 AM)

Tua isn’t all that.

Their window is like Dallas and a lot of other teams. Kidding themselves after the QB consumes salary cap.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/5/2023 11:58:20 AM)

It's a good thing they 'x' out the 's' in Penix's name, it just wouldn't be right.
