Are KOC’s okay calls from the 12 up by 2 self inflicted wounds?

I have no idea if he addressed that at all or questioned about it.

Those calls were flat out idiotic..

Zero yard WR screens, would have made more yards..

We pay hockenson big fn money to be a red zone target..

WTF was that crap?

Horrible choices all… three.. plays…

Im pretty sure the meaning of "self inflicted" had nothing to do with O'Connell's two runs from the 12 - but Ive been wrong before

-obviously, he's an idiot!

He's coaxed Joahua Dobbs to two victories and a loss by one point. Is he perfect? No. Could he have done better this game? Yes (you can probably always answer yes to this question). He has some warts but I'd hardly call him an idiot. He needs to find a way to teach these guys to hold on to the damn ball (though uncalled helmet to helmet hits deserve a pass like the one on Dobbs).

When they say self inflicted wounds, they mostly mean TURNOVERS.

There have been moments I wanted to strangle all of them, Like not spiking the ball late in the redzone costing us a game and so forth. And there have been questionable decisions. He's not perfect. Nobody is. But he's no idiot.

I was being facetious.

You're a genius when it works, and an idiot when it does not

4 game suspension for Jackson.

Obviously this idiot can't help himself.

So, how do you get him to stop? Start fining coaches for egregious repeat offenders. Take away draft picks.

Payton was suspended for a full year and lost almost 8M and it didn't have any effect on him or his teams.

Bountygate encouraged all players to take guys out for $$$.

This is one guy who keeps on doing it. For whatever reason. He's lost a couple steps and now believes he needs to be an enforcer to keep a job.

I think if you said Payton would get 500K fine, Vance Joseph 100K fine and you lose a 3rd rounder in 2024, he would stop launching his helmet into other player's heads.

NFLPA would never allow it though.

Jackson could seriously injure someone for life if he keeps doing it.

You're also putting yourself at serious risk of a spinal injury leading with your head like that.

I never want anyone to get hurt, but that would be karma...

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/22/2023 3:33:20 PM)

Or, and bear with me - this is a little bit nuts, maybe they just missed it in real time.

I thought the hit to Dobbs was leading with the helmet in real time. So you either had to be a Vikings fan to see it, or been a biased ref to miss it.

That one was also so very obvious as it was an unusual play, and all eyes should have been on Dobbs, the ball, and the location of the first down.

The ball was being jarred lose a millisecond before Dobbs was being hit by the crown of a helmet, but that may have affected his ability to hold onto it, or distracted him from holding onto it.

Do we think about this guy?

Ian Rapoport

#Colts LB Shaq Leonard has cleared waivers and is officially a free agent, source said. Indy picks up the $6.1M he has left on his contract and the former All-Pro can sign anywhere. He may take a few days to make a decision.

He was a stud early on.
(8 FF and 4 INT in 2021... can you imagine a Vikes LB doing that)

But hurt is back (I think)... and just hasn't been the same.
Empty stats in 2022 and 2023.
Guess it depends on if you think he has any chance at getting back to where he was.

Or, an official at field level that doesn't have the advantage of watching it zoomed in on camera.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/22/2023 5:54:48 PM)

Jeez! What round did we draft this guy in again?

@TPPSkol
Ivan Pace Jr. didn't have the highest run defense grade of just the rookies, or the linebackers, but all defenders. His 92.5 was the best in the league for week 11.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/22/2023 5:56:35 PM)

Screw it! I'm rooting for the Packers tomorrow.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/22/2023 7:02:38 PM)

Possible, I think each head coach should have a challenge for obvious missed judgement calls. Either 1 challenge per game, or 1 per half.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/23/2023 8:56:02 AM)

I think calls not called like the abuse Dobbs took could/should be corrected from the gods who have all the power. The guys who can buzz the white hat and have a chat. Calls like illegal motion, chop block, illegal man down field, etc would not be a good idea. But game changers and missed high dollar fine type calls like we experienced on Sunday would be nice to get right. Once again, as I've said before, the effort put into winning is enormous. The effort, the emotion, the money fans put into following their team is also enormous. If it can be made right with the least amount of bias, with an acceptable balance in the process, the game would be better for it. Imo.

Really really awful idea. Coaches are the worst at seeing penalties against their team and arguing against penalties on their team. (ie, the most blind)

Lets just give the team mascots free challenges to slow down the game even more.

Wait a minute ... I wouldn't mind emphatic dance moves when game-altering penalties are called against opposing teams and announced to the crowd.

I take it back. The seed of your idea is brilliant.

re: will Chandler finally get more carries than Mattison

"Mattison's fumble in that game was an absolute killer in that game. And if you can't trust him to hang on to the football and he's not really that effective as a gainer of yards on the ground, and he doesn't have the explosiveness of Chandler what's the point? [Not clear] ... Mattison is a better blocker. I say play him on 3rd down then. But give Ty Chandler the rock more bc he has a burst I want to see."

https://x.com/SKORNorth/status/1727407627951587402?s=20

Also noted: Denver's run def not as good as Chicago

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/23/2023 10:34:07 AM)

Agreed Ricky, just on the types game changing missed calls, one per team.

And if a play like the hit in Dobbs happened at home, and the refs still don't see enough on the replay to give Denver a flag, at least we get the satisfaction of seeing the replay several times, followed by the crowd booing the refs.

With all the Viking' fans in Denver, that might have made for a good chorus of "boos".

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/23/2023 12:17:31 PM)

Bottomline is the NFL merely pays lip service to contact with helmets. They happen all the time, many times a game. Except for the first year or so the rule was implemented, there is no real enforcement and what exists is wildly inconsistent.

Oh, looks like a Lions player was just knocked out from a helmet to helmet hit from a teammate. Commercial opportunity!

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/23/2023 12:20:00 PM)

Detroit has “lose on national TV on Thanksgiving Day”.. in their DNA..

They can’t help themselves..

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/23/2023 12:34:19 PM)

Yup. It’s still really early but, so far, Goff isn’t exactly wrapping himself in glory.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/23/2023 1:02:09 PM)

If I hated NE for all the winning theyve done I'm sure the Gronk schtick would drive me crazy - right now it's at the a little annoying stage

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/23/2023 1:38:04 PM)

His USAA commercials are annoying just because they play on his dumbassery…

Is he THAT brain damaged from football?

I really haven’t seen anyone interview him “live and normal”..

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/23/2023 2:47:01 PM)

Detroit is 0-13 on Thanksgiving day when the moon is in the waxing gibbous stage. ;)

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/23/2023 4:19:06 PM)

Out basically 2 months with a mild hamstring injury. Protect your $ JJ. Hope it comes from another team.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/23/2023 4:41:49 PM)

You're really struggling with the jj thing, huh?

1. If we're going to win the SB would the odds be any better if he'd of been back a game or two by now or after the Bears? Assuming he didnt/doesnt injury the hammy id say there's not much difference.

2. If he waits another week one would assume the chances of re-injury are significantly less than if he played. If he played he'd possibly be be out for the season by now

The way i see it, we're sitting pretty good right now - get in and go!

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/23/2023 7:26:57 PM)

Maybe someday the NFL will get it right. But a repeat offender just coming off suspension should have been on the refs radar. how he got away with that in real time is just a complete fail.
