ORIGINAL: Jeff Jesser The counter to that is that: Clearly he was misused last year with a guy that had no clue what he was calling. He still had 10.5 sacks. What can we get out of him with Flores? It's very tempting but I get the caution based on his injury history. I'd give him a 3 year deal at market value but I think he's pivotal to what Flores is expecting. Nothing but personal hunch there. Maybe they will wait until mid-season to try to better gauge what he's worth. Possible for sure but I don't think he has the personality to wait for that. To me, he seems like a "hold out or get paid" guy. He did settle for a single year fix on $$$ after his injury.... hunter only has 2-3 seasons left, he does not want to hold out and lose that.... So per your prior post, you'd pay $20 million per - or at least $40 million guaranteed - for someone who has next to nothing in the tank. kwesi is driving a hard bargain...it'll be interesting to see what they settle on...so far, I've been unimpressed with his deals.... Kwesi likes to drag his feet. Chi just ext TE Cole Kmet for 50ml 4 yrs so Hock's ext probably got more expensive. If the plan is to ext Jefferson he should do it sooner rather than later. the franchise tag for a tight end is $11.3mm...imo we deal with jefferson next offseason...we don't even have a QB next season.... . True. kwesi has painted himself into a corner qb wise. If he can't land a starter in next years draft Cousins will have him bent over a barrel. I bust Kwesi’s chops all the time but he was spread-eagled over a barrel when he was hired. That he agreed to the situatiion coming in has not changed the difficulty of moving on from a very solid incumbent that may or may not have reached his cieling, depending on your point of view. Salary cap issues, ho-hum qb draft prospects in 2022-2023 (at our draft position), little resources to move up (some of that due to KOCs fixation on TEs), and KCs no trade / guaranteed status making a non-draft solution moot … have murkied the path forward. At least next offseason we can start competing with the other 15-18 teams willing to go all in on a long-term franchise qb option.
