Looking forward to seeing how far along the def scheme is coming.

Also how the new muscle on offense affects the playcalling.

Wouldn’t mind seeing us retain some of the good ball bounce / luck from last year but wont raise my expectation until I see something better developing on the IOL and DL. Oh and CBs … can we see our CBs in some WR zip codes? Thank you.

Risner I believe would be a very good addition and get me very excited about this offense.

No possible way does the ball bounce and luck continue this year. The Vikings likely were the luckiest team in history last season. It was an incredibly hollow number of wins. I suspected the Giants would beat the Vikes you could see it coming.

Of course … there is no way to be AS lucky as last year … its nothing to aspire to.

I guess I was trying to say, ‘better to be lucky than good’ was disproved last year. Good luck is fantastic but would rather see some improvement over the course of the season.

I'm confident we have improved and we will win from 10-12 regular season games and 1 to 4 playoff games.

I think that is a very reasonable estimate. I think the team will be better, but may not have a better record due to the 11-0 last year in close games

But maybe some of those close ones shouldn't have be so close which could make a higher win total more reasonable. Maybe.

I hope so.

Although saying that doesn't make it so.

We improved last offseason. Then not at all during the season.

I'd like to think we improved this offseason ... and will continue to build as we go along.

We'll see.

I know enough about the rules to be really pissed off when the refs screw up obvious things.

Winning 13 again would be more than awesome. The nation at large expects us to win 9 or less. I'm going with 10 or more.

The Vikings are a Super Bowl contender if they win at Philly.

IF the Vikes lose at home to the Bucs, they'll be lucky to win 9 games.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/7/2023 7:55:39 AM)

Zero Vikings on the Wed injury list.

Vikings put their money where their mouth is with all the praise for Josh Metellus this offseason.

Per ESPN

Kevin Seifert, ESPN Staff Writer
Sep 7, 2023, 07:17 AM ET

The Minnesota Vikings and safety Josh Metellus have reached agreement on a two-year extension worth up to $13 million that includes $6 million guaranteed, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.

Metellus was entering the final season of his rookie contract after being drafted by the Vikings in the sixth round in 2020.

He has long been one of the Vikings' top special teams players and was named its captain for the 2023 season. But Metellus also has been tapped for a more robust role on defense this season by new defensive coordinator Brian Flores.

If Mattison fumbles 3 times, Marty will be a contestant for the golden bachelor.

But … they’ve already penciled in Booth on next week’s injury report. Whether he plays or not.

Interesting accidental find: Daily Lines on ESPN has MN at -5.5 (tied w/ Sea for ^ favorite)

and Bears -1 v. GB (when's the last time theyve been favored in that match-up?)

Did we set the market for special teamers?

Next will be long-snappers. Technically also STs but I'm sure Kwesi can sashay around that technicality.

Some GMs build from the foundation up. Kwesi likes to start with the ceiling fans.

Metullus showed a ton with Smith out last year. I guess I would rather have Metullus at 6 over Harry at 18 next year.

KC needs to jump on Detoilet from the opening whistle. Get them back to packing their s*** up for the winter by Halloween.

Fake punt by Detroit inside their own 20 works. It seemed to ignite them. Good looking TD drive.

For one drive anyway, Detroit lives up to the hype.

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/7/2023 8:42:03 PM)

Detroit is not going to be any easy out..
