second-round pick Marat Khusnutdinov’s season with KHL Sochi ends Sunday, and then the Wild will look to sign the forward to his NHL entry-level contract and bring him over to North America soon after.

Khusnutdinov has 16 points in 46 KHL games this year. Looks like another in a long line of undersized bottom 6 forwards.

Why don't the Wild make Kevin Falness their radio play-by-play guy? He's much better than Joe O'Donnell.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/19/2024 1:50:17 PM)

2 shots for Vancouver and 2 goals with 1 minute left in the first. Oner of those kinda games. We got a lucky one back to go in the break at 2-1 off a skate deflection by JEE. He's going to be a 30 goal guy this year. One of the only bright spots.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/19/2024 1:59:42 PM)

We had a 5 on 3 PP and couldn't manage to get one guy in front of the net other than Ek to take away the goalies eyes.....everybody else on the perimeter standing still.
There is a reason Ek is leading the team in goals......the only one willing to go to the hard places.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/19/2024 2:01:11 PM)

Did you see the piece on Shaw during the intermission? Pretty cool to see that kid getting back to it. If anyone deserves success it's him.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/19/2024 2:52:46 PM)

I like Gus and think he can make a really good combo/#2 goalie for a long time but he flat out sucked that period.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/19/2024 3:13:36 PM)

Holy shit, what a 2 minutes to open the 3rd. Down two to up 1 in 1:42 😳

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/19/2024 3:19:25 PM)

[:-][:-][:-][:-]

8-5 Wild 5 minutes in to the 3rd. Holy cow. A real goalie clinic [&:]

Phil Riewer -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/19/2024 3:40:51 PM)

The wild scored 6 goals in 5:54....[:-]

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/19/2024 3:46:07 PM)

Craziest game I’ve ever seen. 3 hatties in one game!

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/19/2024 5:05:29 PM)

Wow, we were down 3-5 when I got to the dentists office and went in for my crown work and I came out to see the final score was 10-7 Wild! I must have missed an amazing 3rd period.....and I didn't have the DVR recording at home. [X(]

No real fluky goals either. 2 empty netters though

Yeah I saw that. I went to the Wild website and watched the recap video.....pretty amazing finish to have a football score for a final.

David Levine -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/19/2024 6:36:40 PM)

The #mnwild scored 10 goals on 27 shots for a 37.0 shooting percentage today vs. Vancouver.

That marks the best single-game shooting percentage by a team with 25-plus shots on goal since the start of the the 2000-01 NHL season.

Lynn G. -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/20/2024 8:54:22 AM)

I turned the channel when we went down 4-1, but took a peek a bit later and saw the score was 5-2. Left it on the channel and was rewarded with the craziest comeback win ever! What a game!

Lynn G. -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/21/2024 7:52:40 AM)

We fell back to earth. [&o]

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/21/2024 8:17:46 AM)

Not surprising, the Jets have had our number for a while now. I watched the first period and and that was it last for me last night.

My god the Kraken uni's are hideous.

I thought the same thing when I tuned in last night to watch the game.

Lynn G. -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/25/2024 8:14:16 AM)

Agree about the Kraken uniforms. Everything about them was horrible - the two colors of wide stripes, the twisted logo on the front... ugh.

Lynn G. -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/25/2024 8:15:05 AM)

But yay for a great showing by the Wild. Fun to watch a decisive win again.

It's not often the Wild have the least ugly uniform in a game.

From the Athletic.

Wild sign Khusnutdinov
The Wild announced Wednesday that they have signed forward prospect Marat Khusnutdinov to a two-year entry-level deal.

According to a source close to the 2020 second-rounder, his representatives received completed paperwork for a mutual contract termination with KHL Sochi on Wednesday morning. They had to review it to make certain it satisfied requirements for a contract release before making the signing with the Wild official. Even though Sochi’s season has ended, Khusnutdinov’s contract ran through April 30.

A team source told The Athletic that the plan is to burn the first year of his contract and have him report to Minnesota once his U.S. work visa and immigration papers are complete.

During that time period, the Wild will be able to designate Khusnutdinov to non-roster status, an NHL source said. While his pro-rated average annual value will count against the cap, this will buy the Wild time to create roster room. As of now, they’re at the maximum 23 players, so to fit Khusnutdinov on the roster, they will need to place a player on waivers, trade a player or sustain an injury that would require the player to be placed on injured reserve.

If for some reason Khusnutdinov’s work visa isn’t complete until after the March 8 trade deadline, all of this is moot because teams can exceed the 23-player roster limit after the deadline as long as they’re cap-compliant. He would still be playoff-eligible, though, as long as his NHL contract is signed.

The Wild envision Khusnutdinov developing into a middle-six center and think he is ready for the NHL. He has 162 regular-season games and 32 playoff games of experience in a men’s league and plays a mature, 200-foot game. He’s versatile enough to play up and down one’s lineup. He’s solid away from the puck, is very fast, a ball of energy, a 50 percent faceoff guy in the KHL and has the skill to make plays.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Wild 2023/2024 Season (2/28/2024 3:34:14 PM)

The deal is for the maximum $925,000 base salary, team and league sources say, with performance bonuses in the second year.
