Let me behind your eye test, oh great one. Did Kenny Lofton look like a HOFer?

Hall of very good for sure. borderline at best HOF.

No.

And I was a Lofton fan.

He played a long time. But he was a career .299 hitter with 130 HRs in 17 years.

He did lead the league in SBs 5 straight years, but they weren't huge numbers.

He was Top 10 in MVP voting once. 6x All-Star, 4x GG.

And while he played in a lot of postseason games, he generally came up quite small.

95 games: .247/.315/.352

My thoughts as well. I liked Lofton. Very good player. In fact a hall of very good player. Not a HOF player.

Sounds like Ohtani is going to Toronto.

I feel like you put this in here just hoping to stir up some people.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Pablo López tried pickleball for the first time and stuck with it. He jokes that his baseball offseason is his pickleball season, playing once or twice a week. He and his wife, Kaylee, adopted their dog, Bennie, during the 2019 offseason. López, who didn't have pets growing up, said it was love at first sight. Over the last two years, Kaylee has donated dog toys and supplies to Paws4You Rescue, which brought three of its 90 dogs in the hopes of being adopted, according to founder Carol Caridad.

Ummmmm....why are the Twins allowing him to play pickleball? I thought MLB teams put language in contracts that prohibit activities that could result in injury. For example, remember when Jeff Kent hurt himself washing his truck?

Royce Lewis and Louie Varland got engaged. It looks like Royce gave the larger diamond.

Happy Thanksgiving week to all who celebrate! We at MLB.com are taking this opportunity to highlight a way in which the organizations and players around the league give back.

Who doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving? Very strange.

They deserve each other.

Not that there's anything wrong with that....

Native Americans, people outside the US...

Daniel Lee Young -> RE: Twins off-season (11/22/2023 2:20:58 PM)

Yea I’m betting native Americans are regretting not letting that colony fail..

We’d probably be the United Kingdom of Canada with the federated States of Mexico all the way up to Omaha, Denver, and Seattle with Alaska being part of Russia, or Canadian, and Hawaii belonging to Japan.

Florida would have been a Spanish territory ceded to Mexico in some kind of war support deal against the British..

What… if…

lol..

TJSweens -> RE: Twins off-season (11/27/2023 6:42:56 AM)

Kenta Maeda has reportedly agreed to a two year $24M contract with the Tigers.

TJSweens -> RE: Twins off-season (11/27/2023 7:36:41 AM)

Sonny Gray is expected to agree to a deal with the Cardinals today.

Meanwhile the Twins are aggressively shopping Christian Vasquez in their on going efforts to reduce payroll.

Thank goodness the Twins cut one scout loose and didn't offer a deal to the other for cost savings [&o]

Mister Ed -> RE: Twins off-season (11/27/2023 9:25:21 AM)

2 starters gone. better get those cheap controllable starters they're supposed to be getting through trades going.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins off-season (11/27/2023 9:52:41 AM)

I wonder why nobody was willing to go 3 years for Maeda? I would have thought the Twins could offer 3 years and between $36 million - $40 million.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins off-season (11/27/2023 10:13:48 AM)

Aaron Gleeman
@AaronGleeman

Twins traded 2021 first-round pick Chase Petty (#26 overall) for Sonny Gray.

They got two very good seasons from Gray, who threw a total of 304 innings with a 2.90 ERA.

Now they'll get a 2024 first-round pick (around #33 overall) as compensation for losing Gray in free agency.

It sounds like the Twins will be trading Polanco.

ronhextall -> RE: Twins off-season (11/27/2023 2:35:13 PM)

Twins seem to almost be gifted the 2024 Central.

Now it looks like the Twins are desperately trying to give it away.

Desperately?

Deliberately??

I would say trading Polanco and gaining Gray and Gallo salary space wouldn't be either of those.

Trade Polanco and a Prospect for Seattle SP Gilbert and we would be in better shape then 2023.

So Gilbert is BETTER than Gray? Ok

And I guess anyone CAN replace Maeda.
