My .02 Darnold did NOT have a good day. He really needs to take advantage of the double and triple teams on JJ and find the open guy underneath or over the top. When he has these INTs it is almost always him trying to force the ball to JJ. During the week Doug Pederson joked that Darnold is doing well because of JJ...well that tells you the coach is planning to do everything to take JJ out of the game...that should open up opportunities for everyone. It was a coaching and Darnold issue... The silver lining on the dark Cloud is that the INTs didn't occur where the Jags would have a short field...they got 0 points off turnovers. The offense moved the ball well to get into the redzone but blew it from there. The Defense, with the exception of one drive, was amazing all day long. Kept the Jags from doing anything. Time of Possession. Holy crap we held the ball for nearly three quarters of the game.. the Jags D was clearly gassed at the end. John Parker Romo - Nice job young man. Mr McQuade, You filled in admirably. Now, Sammy needs to stop trying to feed JJ the ball when he's over covered. According to post game analysis, on the endzone INT, Aaron Jones was open on a crossing route underneath and it would have been a footrace to the endzone....which Aaron usually wins. Refereeing in the NFL has gotten really bad. I don't see how they even called that INT an INT clearly he didn't have control when it hit the ground, even the network ref was amazed they didn't overturn the call. It's shit like this that makes people think the league doesn't want certain teams to win. And all the gifts the Chiefs have been getting make support that as well.

One thing the coaching staff needs to clean up is Robinson's setup when it's run vs. pass. He only got called for it being illegal once but he gives it away every time we are going to throw it. He lines up right at the LOS on run plays and about 1/2 yard back on passes. It's easy to see what's coming and renders play action worthless.

That partly explains why they can't execute effective screen passes. Too many moving parts. Too hard. But they'll try to compensate with 1-2 weekly cute 'look how smart I am' plays.

He has his routine, things he puts his focus on. He's put his stamp on things. He's LESS likely to change. And he's two years away from the proverbial 'No coach except Cowher has ever won a SB after being with a team for 5 years'.

It’s not like we’re running tight on coaches and assistants. We should be lighting it up on offense. Dictating games. It’s clear Kevin has stars under performing. What’s the point of having Jets if he can’t take over games. We just force things.

That was a miserable game to watch... But as far as the offense and KOC Vikes had 400 yards offense and 40 min TOP. If they cash in points every time they were in the redzone this game is a blowout. Sam needs to take care of the ball. KOC needs to quit being 'cutie pie' with the play calling. Offense is good. KOC wins games. Can't wait for JJM era to get here.

One thing that I hope is that JJM is not afraid to audible out of KOC's poor play calls. I hope he is taking notes on the sidelines and is noticing the tendencies of our coach and is able to recognize when/if to go around them. Once can hope!

The defense has benefited from 2 lousy offenses with 2 lousy QBs the last two weeks. I would like to think we have it all worked out but good teams take advantage of our poor CBs and lack of inside rush. Getting Cashman back definitely helped yesterday. Guy is solid in all 3 phases(pass rush, pass coverage and playing the run)

My guess is JJM will try to run the plays as called the first season he plays, seeing how much different they are when he is playing. And then in his second and subsequent seasons, he won't be afraid to audible out of certain plays at times. It's an interesting question nonetheless.

The CB that returned after being out 4 games was pretty tough plus they were trying to stop the medium to deep routes.

I will worry about JJM next year. They still can make a run this year. Ok, do you think later in the season that Darnold might start to audible out of some of the plays KOC has called ?

I don't understand the KOC hate. The dude is 10-8 with non-KC's QB's. Dobbs/Mullens/Hall and Darnold. a 5th round rookie who was way in over his head, 2 complete journeymen and a guy left for dead. During that time: JJ is out for weeks #1 TE has season ending injury that bleeds all the way to week 8 the following year loses a top 5 LT and has to replace him on a Wed only for that guy to start on Sunday Dobbs has to play for 2 games when he has no idea what the playbook is Has a promising rookie die in preseason to rock the whole org ect..ect. Not saying other coaches have it easy but seriously, this dude's held it together with WD-40 and duct tape at this point and we are winning. Sure, there are things we can pick apart but, IMO, overall he's been fantastic as the team leader. .

In general I like how KOC runs the team as a head coach. He identifies with his players and has empathy towards them. He has that youthful energy which can be infectious to those around him. At times I think he’s overboard positive though, choosing to give out participation trophies and atta boys over some more constructive criticism but it’s better than the last zimmer years at least. I’m not a fan of him being the OC though. He’ strikes me as a good game planner but not a great thinker on his feet. I’d like to see a different game day play caller. Year three doesn’t seem like he’s improving in his game time decision making, situational play calling or in putting inferior teams away. His scripted plays tend to do well, but not the ones where he’s calling plays in the moment. We still struggle to get plays in on time, regardless of the QB, where it could be a combo of the word salad play description but more probably the inability to get the play selected quickly based on the situation. We have large gaps in offensive production when teams have adjusted to our original plan. We also will call cute plays at inopportune times, run decoy plays to isolate Hamm and Mundt rather than Addison or Nailor, and will habitually play to the level of our competition. Outside of KFC, QBs have regressed under KOC as time goes on. Maybe that’s a product of opening up the playbook once teams scheme for the QB, but maybe it’s also tunnel vision about our system rather than the QB. Anyway, that’s my list of things that are worrisome. Id like to see how JJ does with him though. I don’t want to have an eberflus screw that kid up.
