Our season is entirely dependent on health of the team and we are starting the season with a few important pieces all on the IL.

I am still hopeful we overcome injuries this year and keep rolling, in a weak division. 87 wins and division title.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (3/28/2024 11:58:03 AM)

Who is our starting pitcher on Sunday?

What do they accomplish in the playoffs. That's what matters.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (3/28/2024 12:40:25 PM)

Buxton is leading off.

Julien is out of the lineup because we're facing a lefty.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (3/28/2024 3:50:27 PM)

Royce Lewis hurt and out of the game.

Ober.

David Levine -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (3/28/2024 6:08:15 PM)

Lopez with the Radke game. Gives up the leadoff homer and then shuts them down.

Right quadriceps injury for Lewis.

MDK -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (3/28/2024 6:23:03 PM)

I don't care which MLB team.
Baseball players need to watch athletes in other sports stretch, etc. Before they play

Mister Ed -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (3/29/2024 4:47:01 AM)

1-0!! Is the parade route set??

bstinger -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (3/29/2024 8:09:37 AM)

Royce is like fine china.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (3/29/2024 9:14:00 AM)

Brad hasn't posted anything about the Pablo Lopez trade today...very strange.

It's a trade that worked out well for both teams. Nothing wrong with that.

I was thinking crystal, but yeah same thing. They ought to have a fine delicate crystal trophy to give to the most fragile player...until he breaks it.

Buxton may have to surrender his crown after making it through opening day unscathed.

And while they play too. There should be an area behind the dugout for that. How many times do we see players get injured just running the bases hard with no contact at all? That doesn't happen in any other sport. Because baseball players alternate between standing around in the field and sitting in the dugout and spitting... and then all of a sudden they have to sprint at full speed, and their bodies are clearly not ready for it.

I disagree about other sports. Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rodgers both blew an achilles on a non contact play.

There are tons of other examples.

But that doesn't take away from the need for our training staff to better prepare these guys before and during a game.

I think every player should be required to do yoga.

Give him a couple of games and he'll pull an oblique running to first.

Obviously I was exaggerating a bit. I know it can happen in other sports. But it seems more prevalent in baseball where a guy gets hurt simply running, not trying to elude a defender or make a quick stop etc. Just running.

And yes I agree, yoga would be a great fit for baseball players.

So, the pitcher we got for Polanco had surgery and is done for the year. Deja vu all over again.

Our front office has a unique talent for acquiring damaged pitchers.

The other pitcher opened the season on the IL after getting pounded in spring training.
