He seemed to be pressing and trying to hit a HR every time up and as mentioned his eye was taking a ton of strike threes.

Amazing the Twins are 7 games over with the combo of salary cuts and what they chose to spend on have been horrendous:

The Twins got shut down by American League pitcher of the month, Luis Gil. You know....the guy they traded for Jake Cave.

Ugh, I just found this out during the game when I looked him up. I knew he didn’t have much of a track record and then was out for a year. But didn’t know he came from Twins organization.

But who knows if the result would have been the same had he stayed. Usually when a pitcher improves so dramatically and quickly he’s developed a new pitch. In this case it looks like maybe he honed his slider? Seems like it’s very tough to pick up.

Maybe Yankees pitching coaches are just better. The Twins don’t seem to have many home grown pitchers become stars.

Gil's been unhittable, but I think he's going to flame out pretty quickly as his innings start to pile up.

We lost to a very good pitcher. Bailey Ober did exactly what we expect a pitcher to do. Pitched enough innings and gave up few enough runs for us to get a chance to win. Gil was out in the 7th and our lineup, except for Royce Lewis, did nothing against the bullpen either. It's like Royce Lewis didn't get the memo that we are supposed to pee our pants, curl up in a ball and accept the Yankee beating.

If Gil stayed with the Twins, he would have been moved to the bullpen 2 years ago. The Twins suck at scouting, drafting and developing pitchers.

Freaking Kirilloff needs a trip to the minors. An OPS of under .600 at this point in the season is inexcusable.

Arraez has struck out just 16 times in 260 at-bats. Julien struck out 66 times in 169 at-bats before being sent down to the minors. Anybody thinking that was what was best for the team needs a head examination.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Pablo Lopez is 5-6 with a 5.45 ERA. He's given up the second most home runs in the league (13).

We don't need some Sabermetrics guy running the organization. All we need is a guy that understands baseball with a pair of good eyes.
