One way to keep Guardians from getting 7th win today.
Cleveland at MN idle today.

A 14,000 capacity ballpark (which includes lawn seating/SRO) does not meet the requirements for an MLB team. If you remember, that's why Metropolitan Stadium had to be expanded if the Senators were going to leave DC for the Twin Cities.

They're averaging 6500 fans this season.

Average temperature in Sacramento in August is about 94, so have fun with that.

15 Ks 0-12 with RISP [X(]

One of my son's best friends growing up was Tanner Bibee. Great kid. Amazing to see him doing well in the bigs.

We're still whining about this? We'll make trades near the deadline to bolster our rotation and lineup if necessary. That's smart.

When has that ever happened in Lavine/Falvey history (where they took on 25-30 million)?...even the Mahle trade didn't cost much money.

boydster -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (4/6/2024 3:09:21 PM)

Offence is pathetic. 0-last 2I with RISP with 8 LOB down 3-1 Top of 7th

TJSweens -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (4/6/2024 4:24:32 PM)

Eddie Julien already leads MLB in looking at strike 3.

ewen21 -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (4/7/2024 9:37:16 AM)

Simply put, this is not a good offense. Guys like Wallner, Julien and Jeffers are not proven consistent players. Willie Castro has a lifetime OPS south of .700, Carlos Santana is at the end of the line at 38 years old, Kepler had been awful for 3 and a half season until he woke up at the end of last year, Buxton is just not that good. HIs lifetime OBP is ;300 on the dot and his lifetime average is .239. Royce Lewis is hurt again. Correa is doing what he needs to do and so is Kiriiloff. There just isn't depth here.

They have to bring up Lee as soon as he is healthy. This early season lack of hitting happened last year also.

It's an awful approach. 10.43 strikeouts-per-game. Unwatchable baseball!

Led the majors last year at 10.28. All the analytics in the world can't solve that.

Start by putting the bat on the ball. Make the other team play defense. We don't have the horses to play home run derby.

They aren't taught to choke up on that bat and get a hit when there are runners in scoring position. Too often they are swinging for the fences when they should be trying to doink a hit. Corkscrewing themselves into the ground trying to hit the ball 550 feet when they should be trying to hit about 180.

Terrible with runners in scoring position. Striking out way too much, Analytics have hampered the game. They are TOO dependent on them.

Team batting average of .191. Pre-2010, a guy hitting .191 would have never seen the field. Now we have an entire .191 team average, and general managers seem to think it is good for the game.

I will be spending $0 dollars on tickets to see this team this season. My son bought us tickets to see the Twins when they play the Angels. I guess I'll have to buy him a hot dog or something, but it better be damned good.

Brad H -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (4/8/2024 8:56:59 AM)

Top three hitting teams in baseball by average:

Braves (.300) First Place
Rangers (.281) First Place
Dodgers (.279) First Place

Big key is after one week....plenty of time to right the ship.

How did that process work for you last year? One week does not make a season.

Underwhelming.

boydster -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (4/8/2024 7:08:17 PM)

Twins score maybe 5 runs for the 3 games.

TJSweens -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (4/8/2024 7:56:02 PM)

Once again Rocco overthinks it. Ober had a pitch count under 70, but Rockhead pulls him because he was 2 times through the order. Enter Okert to face the lefties and 3 straight hits later the Dodgers tie it up.

Not to defend Rocco in any way, but they had three hits. It's hard to win baseball games with three hits.

I'm 55+ years of watching baseball, I'm trying to remember a worse hitting team. Mariners of 2010? Blue Jays in the early 80's were brutal. '65 Mets? Padres had some awful lineups.

Brad H -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (4/9/2024 8:46:09 AM)

You think hitting has gotten awful? Check out this graph. It goes back to the 1880's. Look how many teams are from 2024. I know its's early, but it's a really bad sign for the state of baseball. The first two teams only played 18 and 9 games in 1884. The 2024 Twins are #3.

Mario Mendoza would fit right in on this team.

MDK -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (4/9/2024 11:44:10 AM)

ESPN Analytics has LA at 65% win probability and Twins at 35%.
I'd put it at least 90 % for LA for tonight's game

David Levine -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (4/9/2024 12:52:28 PM)

Apparently Brennan Miller missed 22 ball/strike calls in Saturday’s Twins game. 17 of the 22 went against the Twins.

I don't even think its bias or intentional. Umpires are just so bad at their job.

The electronic strike zone can't get here soon enough.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (4/9/2024 2:52:21 PM)

The Twins have traded for Michael Tonkin.

Mark Anderson -> RE: Twins 2024 Season and Game Day Thread (4/9/2024 7:50:17 PM)

It is early.

But, the Central has improved slightly and we look to be worse.

One last thing, we need to swing even harder when we are in the hole 2 strikes.[X(]

Reap what you sow.....bet there is a lot of nervousness in the Joe Pohlad office right now. I think Falvey and Lavine wanted a better bat than Santana and Margot and another starter but payroll strings had to loosened a little.
