Simply put, this is not a good offense. Guys like Wallner, Julien and Jeffers are not proven consistent players. Willie Castro has a lifetime OPS south of .700, Carlos Santana is at the end of the line at 38 years old, Kepler had been awful for 3 and a half season until he woke up at the end of last year, Buxton is just not that good. HIs lifetime OBP is ;300 on the dot and his lifetime average is .239. Royce Lewis is hurt again. Correa is doing what he needs to do and so is Kiriiloff. There just isn't depth here.
They have to bring up Lee as soon as he is healthy. This early season lack of hitting happened last year also.
It's an awful approach. 10.43 strikeouts-per-game. Unwatchable baseball!
Led the majors last year at 10.28. All the analytics in the world can't solve that.
Start by putting the bat on the ball. Make the other team play defense. We don't have the horses to play home run derby.
They aren't taught to choke up on that bat and get a hit when there are runners in scoring position. Too often they are swinging for the fences when they should be trying to doink a hit. Corkscrewing themselves into the ground trying to hit the ball 550 feet when they should be trying to hit about 180.
Terrible with runners in scoring position. Striking out way too much, Analytics have hampered the game. They are TOO dependent on them.
Team batting average of .191. Pre-2010, a guy hitting .191 would have never seen the field. Now we have an entire .191 team average, and general managers seem to think it is good for the game.
I will be spending $0 dollars on tickets to see this team this season. My son bought us tickets to see the Twins when they play the Angels. I guess I'll have to buy him a hot dog or something, but it better be damned good.
