Like I said a while back, Rossi will be signed for a short term deal and leave as soon as he possibly can. And then he will tear it up every time he returns to play the Wild and we will still be looking for a 2nd line center......
Guerin got us through the buyout BS but he has just about worn out his welcome. If he didn't luck out with Kirill falling into his lap he would already be gone by now.

I don't believe that....getting thru the buyouts was so messy and it amplified every move.

The Rossi thing is still really amplified but I think it will be resolved in 2 months, just before or during camp.

Guerin has made a ton of great moves....remember the Fiala for Faber move just as one.

Guerin did not make a ton of great moves. He has been forced to move skilled players because he complicated his salary constraints by overpaying ham and eggers, even giving them no move clauses. The Spurgeon extension was another crippler while managing the buyout years.

Don't act like Fiala for Faber was some one sided fleecing. In three years with LA, Fiala has 87 goals and 205 points. Guerin had to trade a legitimate top 6 forward and his second leading scorer for an unproven college defenseman because he worsend the Wild’s cap hell. Luckily Faber developed into Faber.

I don’t see it as luck. The first round pick also included in the trade turned into Ohgren.

And Ohgren is what? Middle 6? Bottom 6? AHL?

Middle 6 at best, but most likely a trading chip for Guerin to pick up someone with more F**U to their game. [:-]

Ohgren is another Yeti for this org. He and Wallstedt. 2 "amazing" prospects that, when called (albeit both very briefly) have been 'meh' at best. Starting to wonder if either actually exist.

They were both given a brief chance to show what they had and were immediately shipped to the black hole known as the Iowa Wild to try and find their game. Has there ever been an Iowa alum that has done better than a 4th line or 7th D-man spot on any roster??

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2025 post mortem, off-season and draft (7/26/2025 1:27:38 PM)

Rossi

Rossi

One player in all the years they have been in existence, not a great track record.
Point being the Iowa Wild is where players go to languish on a poor team in the AHL.
And Rossi has become trade bait for Guerin even though he has the skill and done everything asked of him. I feel for the kid and hope all his hard work pays off.

I read reports that Ohgren has gone crazy on weight training in the off season. Photos show that he is huge and ripped.

I found a pic of Ohgren all pumped up.

19th pick overall.

Yurov was 24th in same draft.

Look back at the drafts since he has been in charge.....

I didn't ask where he was drafted. I asked what he is now. Last year he was solid in the AHL and a non factor in the NHL.

Again what spot were they drafted and they will get their first true shot this year. Also when did Guerin take over?
If Yurov Rossi and Ohgren all play next year where does your development, drafting, etc. argument go then?

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2025 post mortem, off-season and draft (7/31/2025 10:43:54 PM)

Right now Gurin's lone draft success is Rossi. We HOPE Wallstedt, Yurovv and Ohgren will join him as success stories. If that happens then the narrative of the Wild's drafting and development starts to change.

Again, I look at were they are picked also. These aren’t top 5 picks. Rossi is the highest at 9. Guerin has done better than given credit for. Guerin took over with limited cap and told not to tank but make the playoffs every year. A near impossible ask.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2025 post mortem, off-season and draft (8/1/2025 7:47:38 AM)

I don't care where they were drafted. A lot of good players have been picked in the middle of the first round. A lot of busts have been picked in the top 5.

Rossi has outperformed Alexis LaFreniere who that draft was named after.

Yurov was rated top 5 in his draft class. He was there at 24 because of the unpredictability of getting players out of Russia. The Wild traded up to get Wallstedt and traded back into the first round to get Lambos, so they were obviously really high on these guys.

Again when did he take over. The guys he drafted in 2020-21 are finally getting a legit shot. Yes Fix IOWA this year.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2025 post mortem, off-season and draft (8/1/2025 10:33:52 AM)

I'm done with BG until he does something to get us out of the first round. Until then, his "big" moves are just blah. The buyouts were nice (and long over due) but he's done nothing to make us better. It's more of the same. The new company line, after this offseason of the win line not moving, is "just you wait..the trade deadline!".

Six years ago. Of the guys drafted in 2020, Rossi is the only one left and he's been around for 3 years. 2021 Wallstedt may not even be a suitable backup. Lambos is on the edge of busting. Ohgren got his shot last year and do anything with it.

He made the cap situation worse by signing journeymen to multi-year deals with no move clauses. Those same contracts blocked younger players from playing time.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2025 post mortem, off-season and draft (8/6/2025 1:16:20 PM)

Ohgren isn't the only jacking himself up. Marco Rossi is up 14 lbs and close to an even 200. He has been training with Joe Thornton in the off-season.

And it sounds like he is doing a lot of work on face-offs too. I still think when the time comes Rossi is going to show Guerin the FU part of his game when he leaves for another team.....

He'll break through on a bridge deal here and be gone.
