lol, I was going to make a joke that I hoped Seattle would take Price mostly because i think he is over rated and would rather get Emmet Johnson

There is nothing to do but hope. I know the whole thing about hope not being a strategy, but here we are. At least the upside is enormous. A healthy Banks is an absolute monster. He changes the whole dynamic of the d-line. He collapsed pockets and generates inside pass rush. I would like to have seen the Vikings make the safer move with someone like Thieneman. A good player who it really sucks wound up on the Bears. They didn't and we are left hoping that the Vikings medical evaluators knew their stuff and the big swing is going over the fence. Bill, I have some duck tape, bailing wire, cotter pins and oil to contribute to get the rusty old band wagon rolling again.

I’m just saying … taking DT Darrel Jackson in the third would give us a humungous defensive wall (and insurance for Banks). Jackson like Banks plays inside and out. Caleb (when healthy) and Darrell could take turns swinging baby Redmond around at ballcarriers trying the middle. Draft Kilgore Stukes Haulcy or Clark in 2nd. Jackson and a c or rb or wr in the third … Cmon Brzez … regroup … its still possible not to have a terrible draft!

Only 2 DT's taken in the 1st round and we reach for the broken one. Not smart. In 4 of his 5 years he had 1 or 0 sacks I'm not sure Kwesi would have done worse What an ass pick!

Lots of reaches but rumor is only a few teams wanted to trade up.....then who knows if someone else drafts him. The weird thing is the letter that circulated about his health just a day or two before the draft...... They drafted their wild card now draft production.

Obviously … there’s a chance this dude could find a good shaman somewhere to prescribe rubbing dart frog poisen or ayahuesca or something on his bad foot to miraculously heal it or regrow it or whatever. Anything’s possible. It just seems so lazy, like if this guy is there we are going to take him because he’s our guy, regardless of the blatantly high risk or who else is on the board. I’d start interviewing GM candidates tonight in the back corner of the draft warroom. ‘Don’t mind us keep doing your thing, picking the highest risk prospect in each round … we are just going to be talking to some people back here.’ Shewt during the interview, I’d ask the candidates who they would pick instead … after they stop chuckling from our actual pick.

Obviously Brian Flores wanted a big, disruptive IDL over anything else. I hope Banks stays healthy enough for us to see what Flores will do with him. Maybe the Vikes have a magic footwear consultant.

A healthy Banks could be a dominant inside force on the D line. The problem is that there is such a big IF attached to the pick. I agree on Mendoza. He is the top of a really bad QB class. Taking him #1 is drafting a QB for the sake of drafting QB.

The first round was so weird.....even though I liked the Oregon S.....just a few weeks ago he was slated for early 2nd round. Simpson was a late 1st rounder/early 2nd. RB price was considered a 2nd round pick. If I was to guess I think we liked Downs and Bey more. Hope we stock the shelves the next couple of days. A couple of Skor North guys......Thor and our former LG were upset (Don't know if it was Sirles or Bone with the pick). I learned a long time ago after being happy about a draft pick that the opposite would probably happen. Examples: Kevin Williams over Suggs/Trufant. The problem is that at 8-10 so many options. At 18 to get a star player? Have to take a chance (I guess). A C for me and I am normally positive.

Sky isn't falling. Banks is an extremely talented player. Nobody likes that he has an injury history but if that's behind him we just got a hellava player. Trading back and selecting him in the mid twenties would have been ideal. But obviously, nobody was interested in trading up. Looking at whom was still on the board there was nobody worth trading up for.

Well I slept on it and I am still not happy with the pick. Everyone gives Flores so much latitude on this team but some of his recent picks in free agency have been injured players who have not panned out and now we take a player at 18 who has a serious injury history? I will eat crow gladly if he stays healthy and turns into a monster in the middle of our D line. Gotta say not to hopeful the Vikes make good decisions the rest of the draft.

It is tough to watch and read thru the draft and they draft an unknown (to me anyway). A trench pick is always less exciting than the TE, WR, or S choices. I don't know if I would have felt any different though with an OT or another DL guy...... I was thinking with the rumored Grenard trade it would be an edge but those are easier to hit on later.

There are plenty of C and C+ grades....here is one of the more positive ones: Matt Verderame, Sports Illustrated: “B” grade If Banks were consistently healthy throughout his college career, he’d have been a surefire first-round pick. However, in being limited to just 34 games across five collegiate seasons, there are lingering questions. When on the field, the 327-pounder showed burst and agility on the interior. In 2024, Banks played 12 games for the Gators and amassed 4.5 sacks and seven tackles for loss, but only suited up for three contests last year due to a foot injury. How he fits with Vikings: After moving on from Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen this offseason, Minnesota nabbed a long-term answer for coordinator Brian Flores on the interior. Heavy-handed and able to penetrate the pocket, he should make life easier for Andrew Van Ginkel and Dallas Turner off the edges.

Well I will give the Vikings this. They do have excellent orthopedic doctors and surgeons over there. I had my knee replacement done at the TCO surgery center there by one of the Vikings docs. If Banks ever needs a new knee I can vouch for them. Seriously though, the injuries? Who knows? You want to take a shot, take a shot. I only question whether they could have dropped down a few spots, added a lower pick and gotten Banks anyway. That’s the kind of shuffling maybe a first time draft boss doesn’t pull off.

Ballsy is good in sports … maybe the whole point … but too ballsy creeps into just plain irresponsible. This selection is skirting that area. Can’t wait to see this guy play.

Grade: A- This might be the highest grade on Banks you’ll see, but this guy can really do all the hard stuff in terms of defeating blocks and understanding leverage within a true top-1% athletic frame. The injury and lack of finishing makes him a risky pick, but he does so many other things at a high level.

After tinkering all night and using copious amounts of 'duck tape, bailing wire, cotter pins and oil' [;)] the Hope Bandwagon is rolling, technically anyway. Pretty creaky... wobbly wheels, misfiring... almost as if it's saying "Again?" But it WILL be by so jump aboard! Seems McVay is not happy about the Simpson pick. Only grade I saw for Banks was a D from Bleacher Report.

It's an A++ pick if it was on Day 3. But considering C is average, it's below a C at #18. If Banks is healthy though, the front 7 just got a whole lot better.
