I know. Crazy, right?

I'm attributing it to the fact that a few games ago I dusted off my old Wild hoodie and they haven't lost since. I promise to keep it out and in front of the tv until the last vestiges of magic remain.

I figured somehow you had something to do with this hot streak. [:D]

I only refer to my input when they win. When they lose I'm like "What could have happened?" [sm=shrug.gif]

And the hoodie roll keeps on rolling......[:D]

Lynn G. -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/23/2025 8:18:08 PM)

I'm definitely not getting rid of that hoodie.

Nice game. Two shut-outs in a row, and both of our goalies are on fire!

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/23/2025 8:47:10 PM)

Wallstedt now leads the NHL in shutouts and save percentage. He has 3 shutouts in his last 4 starts. Yurov scored his 3rd goal while centering Foligno and Trenin. Nico Sturm made his season debut.

This is the Wild's fifth win in a row and moves them to 9-1-1 in November.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/24/2025 8:19:23 AM)

Actually Yurov has been centering KK and Zuc, he just happened to be on the ice with Foligno and Trenin due to an early line change with Sturm. It is nice to know Yurov can play up and down the lineup and looks pretty good with all of them. His play could make for a good problem to have at center when Rossi returns.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/24/2025 8:49:30 AM)

I just hope the Wild don't the Wild don't play their annoying game of...is he a center or is he a wing...with Yurov. He seems to have hit a bit of a stride since injuries forced them to move him to center. When Rossi comes back, Yurov will stay in the middle and just be allowed to grow in that role.

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/24/2025 1:48:34 PM)

I give most of the credit for the hot streak to Lynn, but it coincides with my first post of the year also. (dislocated shoulder patting myself on the back.)

Lynn G. -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/25/2025 8:15:27 AM)

All of us fans who have stuck with them can take equal credit.

You mean like trying HOF defenseman Brent Burns at wing to start out.....[:-]

Simple...leave Yurov there.
Rossi will have to be a 2nd or 3rd line C.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/27/2025 8:27:57 AM)

The victories keep piling up. The Wild score a 4-3 OT win in Chicago. Different script this time as they finally let the other team score first. I can't imagine how far down we would have gotten were it not for Gus kicking out all 20 shots in the first period.
Plus a good challenge kept the Hawks from going up 3-0 due to an off side.
KK scored the OT winner on the PP and has tied Zach for 3rd in all time goals with 199.

Lynn G. -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/27/2025 8:47:09 AM)

I was worried that the hoodie had lost its superpower, but it just faltered a bit. We couldn't watch the game because it wasn't carried on the usual Fan Duel channel, but I was keeping up with the score on my phone.

I just about tossed the hoodie back into the closet when I saw the score went up 3-0, but was relieved to see the number go back to 2 a couple of minutes later. Thanks, Tim for explaining it was off-sides. I figured something like that, but it wasn't spelled out in the scoring table.

Onward. We all know at some point they're going to lose a game again (knock on wood), but this run has shown they've got what it takes to go deep, or, dare I say, all the way. The hoodie stays.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/28/2025 6:03:51 PM)

The Wild take down the Avs 3-2 in a shoot out this afternoon in a real good game. The same team that couldn't complete 2 passes in a row a month ago and now are looking as good as any team in the league.....go figure.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/29/2025 8:53:57 AM)

I'm getting downright impressed. The Lanche were on a 10 game winning streak and 12-0-3 in their last 15.

Years past, the Wild would get on one of these early season runs and stfrank, Jeff, SMF and I would disect at length, the indicators that it was not sustainable. Those runs always included the Wild getting away with sloppy play in their own end, turnovers and the other team missing wide open nets. On top of that, we had goalies who were prone to soft goals. From the Manny Moments to the Backs Blunders to the Duby Du-ohs. We all knew that stuff would even out and sure enough, the Wild would hang for dear life to get the last playoff spot.

This is not that. The Wild are playing smart and within themselves right now. They have developed an identity that goes back to the Lemaire days. Smart positioning in their own end. Force shots from the outside. Look for the chance to counter-punch. Forecheck; if you can't get shots, get zone time.

The goalies, at this point, look like the best tandem the Wild have ever had. Now that Gus has embraced the concept of off-season conditioning, his play is so much more consistent. Wallstedt is just amazing. He is off to a 7-0-2 start with 1.93 gaa and a .938 save % and 3 shutouts. Last night he made 39 saves and stopped McKinnon and Makar in the shootout.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/29/2025 10:22:05 AM)

And I will add they are doing this while still short handed and playing basically an AHL 4th line. Once fully healthy, if that will ever happen, we should be able to roll all 4 lines regularly and keep the ice time manageable. It would be nice to go into the playoffs ready to go instead of limping in all worn out just trying to get in.....

kgdabom -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/29/2025 12:41:48 PM)

Amazing run by the Wild. Keep it up. Looks like our goaltending is in good gloves.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/30/2025 6:46:06 AM)

Not surprised they had a let down the day after going toe-to-toe with the Avs, but they at least still got a point against Buffalo. Gus got tagged for a couple of odd goals and wasn't very good in the shootout. For heavens sack please keep Tarasenko out of the lineup even if he is fully healthy. Whoever has to play on a line with him must feel like they are pulling around a boat anchor. He belongs in the Pross Box unless everybody else is injured.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (11/30/2025 9:55:34 AM)

Yeap. Was a bit of a letdown but not unpredictable. Gus has been good the Wall is starting to pull away IMO.

The Wall was just named rookie of the month. He celebrated by pitching his 4th shutout of the year. The Wild beat Edmonton 1-0 to extend to a 12 game point streak (10-0-2). Wallstedt is 7-0 with 4 shutouts in that stretch and is now the first goalie in 61 years to have 5 shutouts in his first 10 career wins.

He had Edmonton so frustrated......Don't hate to say that he is the better GT right now.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (12/3/2025 10:53:52 AM)

Yeap, man was I wrong. I thought the Gus extension would make it super hard to get proper capital back for Wall in a trade [:-]

He's clearly becoming the #1 guy so we may have to move Gus in the offseason now.

Such a big change from last year. He is so steady and can even handle the puck.....he cleared it during the PK last night even. Kind of said screw this Ill clear it.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2025-26 Season (12/3/2025 11:16:23 AM)

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here....
The Wall has been on a great run, but goalies are fickle and it's still a small sample size. Hopefully we will know for sure by the end of the season where stand and what the market will be for both of them.
I wouldn't mind getting a 1C out of a deal for either one of them.

This is true, but Wallstedt is doing things right now that haven't been done since the NHL was 6 teams, hockey was played with straight sticks and a 3-2 final was a goal scoring orgy.

What is the depth behind these two?
The weird thing is that the Wall is playing so well (that I see the Bus getting better just to keep up). Nothing better than that push from the backup. I think the Bus is playing better than he ever has because of it also.
