I think I've figured out the QB puzzle. This is a pissing match between O'Connell and the GM. I don't think O'Connell ever wanted to lose Darnold, and the new GM wanted to see McCarthy play because he was his choice. Now that Darnold is gone, O'Connell is sticking it to the GM for how bad of a decision that was.

Don't kid yourself, there is nothing wrong with McCarthy.

I came to that conclusion when I seen him avoid getting rolled by Jefferson when he went out of bounds earlier this game. He looked pretty nimble to me.
