2-0 GG's after 1 but some troubling D-zone stuff already. Wally having to make way too many grade-A stops.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/11/2026 7:52:10 AM)

It was a good win last night and it was nice to see Boldy get a goal early to start things out. I like the BEEK line and would be ok with them staying together for a while. Also liked the new 3rd line of Lorenz-Yurov-Brink. Let the young guys play and they bring some speed to the game that the Foligno's just don't have. Going to be a long season and the big boys will get their time when they are needed in the playoffs....

Phil Riewer -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/12/2026 4:48:30 PM)

The 2nd round pick from the 2022 draft is looking pretty good......(maybe we don't need Larkin)?

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/12/2026 8:00:42 PM)

Good guys up 3-0 over Vegas after 1. The young guys looking hungry and like they belong, with a goal by Yurov from Brink and Lorenz.

That’s really important in the coming games. They decided to load the first line with KK, Boldy and Ek. If the young guys can chip in with regular offense and be that second unit, we will be in good shape.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/12/2026 9:49:22 PM)

It got close at the end there but we hung on for the 4-2 win after the empty netter by Ekker. Overall a good game, but Coleman needs to stay out of the box. Refs sure were calling a weird game...let some stuff go and then called some off stuff against us to keep giving Vegas a chance to get back in the game. The Wall in St Paul was up to the task and will get a rest tomorrow in Winnipeg.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/14/2026 10:43:48 AM)

I didn't get to watch much of last nights game in Winnipeg, but the outcome was about what I have come to expect when we go up there for the 2nd of a back to back. Flush that one and move on after a day off. Hope we can get a few of our injured guys back sooner rather than later.

The Jets are playing Skinner in goal. And we lost!

Phil Riewer -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/15/2026 4:55:03 PM)

Down Faber, Matta, both Folignos, Sturm, and Spurgeon for tonight?

Lots of injuries already.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/16/2026 3:49:16 PM)

Our top line was on a roll last night and completely dominated the Blues. Even though they got a couple of late goals to make the final 5-4, it was never as close as the final score looked. The Russian line of Shaby-Yurov-Trenin had a sweet play tic-tac-toe passing play finshed off with a Yurov goal to help out. It will be nice to get a few of your injured guys back, but if they keep going the way they have been we should be good. The more I watch the BEEK line the more I want them to stay together. When they get rolling with Hughes on the backend they are a joy to watch.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/18/2026 11:11:18 AM)

Word out of Detroit is that Larkin is 7-10 days from being traded. The Wild and Canadians are the front runners. The package I here speculated from the Wild is still Yurov, Stramel and our 2027 first. Personally, I’d rather just roll with Yurov, except for my belief that Hughes is waiting for Larkin before he signs and extension. To this point Yurov has been more productive in 8 fewer minutes a game and on a lower shift than Larkin.

Yurov has improved on faceoffs even. What we offer may change.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/19/2026 9:35:05 AM)

The more games we play the better Yurov gets and the less I want to see him included in any trade. But, I have a feeling the Hughes signing has something to do with getting his pal Larkin on the team as well. If Hughes signing is contingent on getting Larkin we may have to bite the bullet and just do it. Larkin is better now, but in a few years I could see Yurov being his equal or more while Larkin is aging and heading in the wrong direction.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/19/2026 9:46:18 AM)

I don’t know if a lot of people realize how good Yurov is on all three levels. His goal last night was a great example. First he came back into the defensive and stole the puck after a failed clearing attempt by Bogo. Then he quickly passed the puck up the right boards to Trenton, hauled ass from the rw boards in the defensive zone, through the neutral zone to the left side ahead of the rush and buried the cross ice pass.

Yurov is 22, already pretty damn good with his best yet to come. Larkin is 30 and on a long term deal that will likely see his production decline. If they are hell bent on Larkin, the Wild need to find a deal that doesn’t include Yurov. Frankly, it would be easier to find a scoring wing to pair with Yurov.

I love Hughes’ game but if that big of a diva (won’t sign unless Larkin)…f-him. Get what you can for him.

The waiting game on this sucks.....but I still don't think it is because of necessarily Larkin. Hughes can wait as long as he wants and I don't think that necessarily makes him a diva.

I say we tell NJ that Quinn is all theirs for their captain, Nico Hischier and their 1st round picks for the next 2 years. We get a 1C without messing with Larkin and have some capital for future moves.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/19/2026 2:36:19 PM)

Rumor is that Detroit sent their GM and two different scouts to the last 3 Wild games......so that points to something.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/19/2026 4:08:23 PM)

I'm not saying it's true. I'm saying that if it is, and there's a lot smoke out there that it's the case, I'd pass. It would be great to get Larkin but it's a lot to give up just to appease a single guy, even as good as he is. Larkin is the #1 on THIS team. He's a #2 on most.

I heard that too. Sounds like they are doing final scouting on Yurov.

That came from Skor North today.

The thing is if it was Yurov, Stramel, Trenin, and a first was rumored I think it would have been done.

I am thinking more of Rieger Lorenz, Stramel, Trenin and a first is being offered. The longer the wait; I am thinking Guerin might pull Stramel.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/19/2026 4:29:58 PM)

Watching the game the other night LaPanta mentioned there were some Detroit scouts, including the interim GM in one of the suites. If anything is going to happen with Larkin I just hope it happens soon so we can get on with the season one way or the other.

twinsfan -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/26/2026 9:51:42 AM)

I hope this isn't true. Just want to pass it along here.

Just received some inside info from a couple of inside sources with the Wild. Larkin is going to be traded to New Jersey and Hughes is next. With New Jersey's acquisition of Hellabuck along with its current roster of all star talent, including Jack Hughes; it's poised to add its final piece in that of Quinn Hughes.

TJSweens -> RE: Wild 2026-27 Season (10/26/2026 9:51:50 AM)

Well, Hughes had a fun return to Vancouver last night. He picked up his 500 and 501 career points in leading the good guys to a win.

This is from Saturday:

The fact Hughes was so positive on Saturday about his experience in Minnesota could be seen as encouraging. The Wild defenseman said “something could happen soon” related to a contract, which raised some eyebrows around the hockey world.
