It happened exactly once, right?

So it's "that was the day."

I believe banner itself spanned days.

Red alert, Red alert! <insert cool siren sound here>

Todd M -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (8/4/2014 11:42:16 AM)

*yellow alert

Todd M -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (8/6/2014 4:57:06 PM)

At the hospital today in emerg...

Nothing too serious...wife had an episode of vertigo I guess. Went down at work and they called an ambulance. She's ok.

But this guy in the next cubicle - you are the reason people spend 5-6 hours in an emergency room! [X(]

'Hi Mr X, what brings you here today?'

'I've had a really bad headache that won't go away'

'And where would you say your pain is at right now? 1 being the lowest, 10 being the highest?'

'Oh, I'd say 2'

Are you shitting me? This is the emerg!

I wanted to finish Brian Regan's bit right there...

Oh, I'm a 2. Maybe the really high 1's. If you could get me a baby aspirin and cut it in half, I'll be on my way so you can deal with the 3's and 4's and such...if anyone is saying such ridiculous numbers...

Unreal.

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (8/6/2014 5:26:28 PM)

Dang. Take care of her, Toddy.
Glad it doesn't appear serious.
Can't agree more on the pussification of the human race.
One of my night shift responsibilities at my job is taking all the "I'm sick today" calls in the early am.
Most are "I've got a bad headache"

I've worked most every day since I was 18. Rarely missed a day. Couple kidney stones, broken wrist, chicken pox. In 30 plus years.
The "headache" thing cracks me up.

Honestly, if I stayed home every day I had a headache ... I'd have missed approximately 97 or 98 percent of the days. [&:]
Suck it up people.
And get the hell off my lawn.

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (8/6/2014 5:27:21 PM)

Say EIGHT!
Say EIGHT!

Todd M -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (8/6/2014 5:32:19 PM)

Someone's an 8 again! [&:]

I usually have to call in fake sick to get a day off as I am rarely sick. Too sick to go to work anyway.

It's a little different as a PSW as I work with vulnerable people so I have to let my work know if I have symptoms and they decide from there.

Yup, every job is different.
I was just making an observation.

I go to the minute clinic for kidney stones. Pick up a pain killer and I'm on my way. If you go to the emergency room for a headache, it better be a brain bleed. Sick people need that bed. Hope your wife is feeling better. One of my coworkers takes Valium occasionally for her vertigo, and she told me that it seems to help.

I'll mention that to my wife. Thanks.

Never heard of a minute clinic. We have walk in clinics here. An option vs emerg or 'urgent' care centers.

Still takes 90-120 minutes to get seen there.

4-6 hrs at emerg. 3-4 hrs at urgent care.

It's similar to a walk in clinic, but it's attached to a pharmacy. There are not many of them around because many drug seekers got really good at faking symptoms so they could score pills. I think CVS still has some minute clinics. They come in handy during cold and flu season.

I'm a little pussified.

Just got back from Zappa plays Zappa. Awesome concert. Anyone that likes Zappa I would highly recommend this show. Dweezil and his band absolutely rock and also do a great job of recreating the humor and sometimes the absurdity of original Zappa songs. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Ricky J -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (8/10/2014 8:31:37 AM)

Damn, I just caught the whole hospital thing.

I hope you're wife is doing ok.

My wife is an RN. If you were in our neck of the woods I'd guess the headache patient wasn't going to pay the bill or didn't have insurance, etc.

Dweezil is a great musician and a really nice guy. I would like to see that show if it comes to Chicago.

Dweezil is an awesome musician and seems very laid back and humble as though he really appreciates the audience just for being there. He has put together an incredible group of musicians to tour with him. If you have a chance to see them and like Zappa definitely go.

Todd M -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (8/29/2014 10:31:44 AM)

Please don't hate me for this...

I'm in trouble.

Partially because of circumstance, mostly because I suck at life.

Fighting more than one thing here but the most important thing for me is keeping my family intact.

Rescued a client's pregnant cat he was going to ditch when he ditched town. A year later I have 4 of the 5 boys. And they need to be fixed.

No matter how hard I try, my neighbor, little miss scratch and sniff, complains about the smell. They're spraying. They think it's the litter but

I am all over that like a champ.

They're coming to inspect my unit next week...which is useless because I'm obviously going to clean the shit out of place and they'll wonder what

the problem is...until the cats continue spraying and I get another complaint and get kicked out. I Can't afford to be kicked out. Everything

is balancing by a precarious thread as it is.

I finally got a decent check, my job is feast and famine and has been mostly famine since Christmas, so I called around to get this done. I'm

like $300 short on the discount chop shop - forget about my vet...I'm $300 short before we even get to the neutering...

I don't need any rah rah - good luck with that's, nor do I need 'just get rid of them'...

I need a little help and have virtually no one to turn to...except this board.

Which is probably going to be frowned upon. So be it. Hail Mary time.

If anyone is comfortable in life enough to get me the rest of the way there with this problem it would be extremely appreciated. Please pm me asap if you can help.

It doesn't have to be a gift...if you can just hold on until I am in a better place I will pay you back.

Todd M -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (8/29/2014 12:09:49 PM)

Issue resolved.

I'll be able to get my boys in next week.

Hell of a board we have here.

Todd M -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (8/29/2014 12:16:49 PM)

Thanks, Joe.

Ima keep fighting. Nice to get a helping hand though. Tough to ask but with the pressure coming at me from so many directions I had to humble myself and put it out there.

Did one of the board's hit men take care of your neighbor?

Todd M -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (8/29/2014 12:40:57 PM)

We talked about it and decided that was the easiest option. [&:]

Lynn G. -> RE: Vikes Water Cooler Thread (8/29/2014 1:53:09 PM)

This is a good board. I posted an appeal recently for my new non-profit for kids and got a very nice donation from one of our members. I don't know if he would want the public mention here so I won't say who it was unless I hear from him an okay to say it, but I can say that there will be many kids who will benefit from his generosity.

Lasagna needs to be made with a red sauce and meat. What you created is a crime against the order of things! (It looks very good, though [;)] ).
