ORIGINAL: SoMnFan Of all the great canadien hockey lore, their super series with the Russians in the early 70s is their proudest moment If you ever get a chance watch it You'll never think of Canada the same way again First, get pissed that Russia is getting better at hockey than you are Then, invite them to a friendly tournament Agree to some terms like allowing them some home games, but do it bitching the whole time Because, you know, they should just be happy they GET to play you Series starts, treat them like little snotty cousins, laugh at their gear, laugh at their faces, etc Then get your asses handed to you in a couple straight Probably the greatest FU two games in sports history ... Then have everyone in the country turn on you, start making excuses about why it's happening .. But most importantly, turn it from hockey into WAR The last games were ridiculous, you had players openly threatening coaches players and refs. Biggest decision was hey, let's take out that guy we can't stop. Don't play better defense, I'm saying TAKE HIM OUT So Bobby Clarke decides he wants to be hero, and mid-game, sneaks up from behind on a rush, and Paul bunyans his already shaky ankle. Instant national hero. They never apologize or back off it They truly think it was genius and deserved. Whatever it takes to win a hockey game. That's why it's so funny when they bitch about American goon hockey. You remember how they play. Our kids never forget games they play against Canadiens They are the most polite dirty bastards in the game. [:D] Wasn't that the same series where JP Parise went ballistic and all but attacked a ref with his stick?? Looked it up and found this link with a video of it..... https://slapshot.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/09/01/the-summit-series-of-1972-talking-with-j-p-parise/?_r=0
