Nasty mouth shot there ... Whoa

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (5/20/2015 10:17:57 PM)

Stamkos shuts down every one of pierres snarky questions.

I'm also impressed with Johnson, too. He can skate, handle the puck, and he's not afraid to sacrifice his body to stop the puck. And he's only about an inch taller than I am!

He's an incredible story

wild had him 2x in their developmental camp, the latest when he was 19 (in 2010). never signed or offered a contract with us. don't know which.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (5/20/2015 10:26:18 PM)

Love it when a guy like Kreider sells out on a headhunt, and gets BURNED by it.

That sucks but hopefully Zucker turns in to him.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General NHL (5/21/2015 7:47:18 PM)

Anyone watching the game, did you see blood? 4 minutes for a high sticking against Toewes. They show the replay and he's (Toewes) showing the ref his mouth, specifically. Before that, you had no idea because it was behind the play.

No blood, that I can see, So I'm assuming "2". They put 4 on the board and show the replay. Not only is there no blood, it wasn't even close to his mouth. The stick went up the side of his cheek.

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL (5/21/2015 7:48:17 PM)

4 minute power play and nothing to show for it. No rhythm on offense so far. And somebody please get Bickell off the ice. He's a complete waste of a roster spot right now.

stfrank -> RE: General NHL (5/21/2015 7:51:42 PM)

The announcers make it sound like Kane knew exactly where that puck was going.........he just threw it towards the net and got lucky.

Haha! No doubt. You can't aim at something if you are facing in the other direction. That was a fast 20 minutes of hockey.

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL (5/21/2015 7:58:29 PM)

Nordstrom is playing in place of Timonen. Fresher legs, I guess.

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL (5/21/2015 10:03:26 PM)

Uh oh. The better team won that game.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (5/22/2015 7:20:25 AM)

That was a mans game there.
Holy cow.
Two really good teams that know how to battle.
Classic series that has seven written all over it.

You got that right. Watching these two teams go at it makes it very clear why the Wild are golfing right now. We just aren't at their level yet.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (5/22/2015 10:04:48 AM)

Chicago is not big, but they skate so damn well, and are relentless.
Anaheim is big everywhere, and they also skate well, and are relentless.
Just don't see that needed extra level on enough of our guys, sadly.

I see the key word of relentless for both teams, but can honestly only say the same thing about one player on our team.....

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (5/22/2015 10:56:32 AM)

Been thinking about it the past couple weeks while watching the other teams.
Imo, Parise would be killing it with any of the final four.
He'd be a top liner, and he'd be loving life. Not surrounded by whiffers.
We have a few others who could play, but only if they learned a new gear.
I mean, when a guy like Marian Hossa has become synonymous with relentless two-way play, you understand how it can be done.
Coyle and Nino could step it up enough.
I know people don't want to hear it, but Spurgeons our only clear D man who can skate well enough. Scandella, woops, him too.
Suters gotten too calm, and Brodins kinda lost at this point, and soft at times.
But once again, hey ... Stoner is playing big minutes, important minutes. It can be done.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (5/22/2015 11:07:11 AM)

The skating ability of guys like Oduya and Keith is so fun to watch.
These are world-class skaters trying to drive on them, and they never give in.
Odd-mans are so rare, good looks off the rush are so rare, and that's due to the skating ability of these remaining D, and their ability to close on the play once they enter dangerous areas.

Good coaching. I really think it boils down to that. We have the talent, IMO.

Saw your FB like of Kieffer Bellows/Sioux Falls

That can't be Brian Bellows' kid, can it??

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (5/22/2015 3:25:19 PM)

Oh yes.
Boston U commit.
I see the Stampede already moved on from Eades to Scotty Owens.
They've been getting some big names thru there.
Winning will do that.

Now i'm really feeling old, if Bellows' kid is headed to college Hockey.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (5/22/2015 3:28:29 PM)

I couldn't believe it either originally
Even when I started hearing about him as a youngster
Just doesn't seem possible
Heck, we're still in our 30s aren't we?
